Chapter 60 Melancholy
Nathaniel revealed her wounds and said. “Here.”
This stunned Ozzy as he wondered if Nathaniel was an idiot when he expected him to check up on her wounds with so little room. So, he let out an awkward cough and mumbled, “Mr. Morgan. I. I can’t see the wounds like this.”
Nathaniel replied. “Then, you’re not a very good doctor.”
This offended Ozzy so much that he wanted to argue with Nathaniel. However, Freya got up before he could say anything.
“Thank you doctor, but I’m fine. Could you give me some cream and I’ll apply it myself?”
Ozzy wondered how they expected him to prescribe anything to her when things would only be worse for him if he prescribed the wrong medicine.
Nathaniel panicked when Freya wanted to leave, so he ripped her dress open, revealing a huge burn mark. It was also blistering. Ozzy gasped when he noticed the burn as he said, “You need to be careful with hot water, Ms. Gomez. How did you end up like this? I’ll prescribe some medicine for you, but I want to disinfect your blisters first before I can apply some cream on you. You’ll be fine after that.”
After Freya received the medicine from Ozzy, she got out of Nathaniel’s grasp and rushed out the door. The housekeeper’s voice could be heard coming from outside. “Are you not going to stay the night, Ms. Gomez? It’s already this late now, I’ve made your favorite food.”
“It’s fine. Thanks.” When she rushed out the door, she stopped and turned her focus to a dark building. The building was dark and she presumed that it had not been maintained by anyone. It almost seemed like the building had been forgotten by the world. That was because the owner of that building had committed suicide while the owner’s wife–had fatten into a coma. The owner’s daughter had reduced herself into a hostess too. Even their son was missing after the accident. Yes, their son had gone missing. There was no news about their son’s fate. It would be unfortunate to think about how a five year old child could survive in the world when the child was dragged into the city’s infighting.  Ads by PubFuture

Freya was breathing heavily while she clenched her fists in silence. Suddenly she was met with hasty footsteps behind her as someone yelled, “Please hold on a second, Ms. Gomez, I’ll send you home.” Koen was apparently ordered by Nathaniel to send her home. Although she wanted to turn him down. It was already late. It would be impossible for her to call a cab in such a wealthy area since everyone who lived there had a driver. If she was to refuse him, she had to walk home. She wanted to show Nathaniel that she could stand up for herself, but really was often cruel. So, she followed Koen back to the garage and left with him.

However, she did not notice Nathaniel as he was watching her leave from the third floor balcony. He was smoking a cigarette and apparently, he panicked when he saw her burn. He received a call from Hudson soon after that. “Sir, I’ve found the culprit and I’ve sent you the information already. The person who wanted Ms. Gomez dead, ended up dead as well. His body was found in the ocean by some fishermen. But, his corpse was basically unrecognizalde from the burns. I was only able to confirm that it was him through DNA analysis. His phone was smashed and I found it wedged between some rock. I’ve also recovered the data and was able to pinpoint the last call made. The last call was to an out of state number, but we’ve recovered some recording from the phone.”

Chapter 61 Shattered Trust
Nathaniel frowned impatiently. “Get to the point!”
idence to
Hudson hurriedly replied, “The gambler probably wants to keep the phone recording as blackmail someone. The audio is only partially audible due to special processing, and we were only able to recover one sentence with Mr. Perez’s help.”
“Mr. Morgan, I think… maybe you shouldn’t listen to it?” Hudson suggested cautiously.
Nathaniel felt like Hudson was asking for trouble today. He had rambled on for so long, only to end with a suggestion to not listen. Did he think he would feel uncomfortable if he listened?
“Send it over!” Nathaniel gritted his teeth. “If you don’t want me to send you to Besmura for mining, send it over.”
There was an obvious tremor on the other end, and shortly after, a short audio file was sent.  Ads by PubFuture

Nathaniel’s finger hovered over the file, hesitating for a moment before finally tapping on it.
When you go to Buranda, I will transfer the remaining money to your account… the dock… the rendezvous…
Then there was a burst of noise, but that voice made Nathaniel’s hand tremble involuntarily.
He couldn’t even hold his tablet, and it fell to the ground with a loud thud.
It was Abigail’s voice. Although it was slightly different, Nathaniel had known her since childhood. He was so familiar with her voice, how could he not recognize it?
Nathaniel desperately smoked, but he smoked to much, burning his hand.
Even with just a slight burn on his finger, he couldn’t bear it. Freya had a large blister under her neck.
His phone started ringing, and Nathaniel, annoyed, walked into the bedroom. He looked at the caller ID and surprisingly, it was Abigail calling.
He gathered himself and answered the call. Abigail’s voice sounded somewhat aggrieved on the other
end.
“Nathan, why did you leave without saying anything earlier? Is everything okay? Is it related to business? Should I come and accompany you?”
“No need!” Nathaniel firmly refused.
There was a long silence on the other end, followed by Abigail’s soft crying.
In the past, whenever she cried like thi
Nathaniel would surrender. He always felt sorry for her.
But now, he felt an overwhelming irritability. He had wanted to endure it, but he couldn’t anymore.
