Chapter 31
Silas POV
“What, pray, are you doing?”I growled, my voice filled with rages I stormed into the room.
My eyes locked with Phillip’s as he was standing over Katrina, whose body was limp.
Her limbs were spread out and her head hung forward as if she forre already unconscious.
I could barely contain the fury inside me.
I closed the distance between us in rushed steps, shoving Phillipway from her with more force than I realized I had in me, my heart pounding in my chest
Beads of sweat dribbled down her face as she panted heavily
Her eyes dropped before she finally went unconscious.
1 immediately unchained her, and her body fell into my arms, lamp.
She was barely breathing and I was scared at the thought that she would die.
I had only been unconscious for a day, and then this happened?
The moment our eyes met I instantly knew that it wasn’t Phillip
No. This was Simeon, the sadistic bastard who shared the same body with Phillip.
The one who enjoyed pain and suffering and thrived in chaos.
It took everything in me not to kill him on the spot.
The rage boiled so violently inside me that my vision blurred.
“Have you gone insane?” I hissed, my fists balled up by my sides
I have never been so angry in my life, and it took everything in the not to kill him on the spot.
“Imagining me waking up and finding out that my wife had been accused of poisoning me, and my second in command is torturing her without much evidence,
Simeon just grinned a sinister, wicked smile that made my skin crawl.
He shrugged, his shoulders relaxed as if this was all just some game to him.
And maybe it was. Simeon didn’t care about anyone but himself. And what angered me the most was that he was most definitely torturing her because it made his heart race. “The poison was found in her room,” he replied, his voice dripping with mock innocence. “Isn’t that evidence enough”
He didn’t look the least bit remorseful about what he had done.
1 stepped closer, feeling the heat of anger flare in my chest.
The desire to destroy him burned through me, but I knew that killing Simeon would mean killing Phillip too.
As much as I wanted to crush the life out of the man standing in front of me, I had to restrain myself.

Chapter 31
But that didn’t mean I would tolerate this. Not for a second Longer.
“Bring him back.” I ordered, my voice was low and dangerous. “wish to speak to Phillip
Even Simeon knew not mess with me.
Simeon’s smirk.
n’s smirk faltered for a moment,
He didn’t like being told what to do and he most definitely did like letting Phillip take control.
Phillip was the dominant personality, and in situations like this, I was happy about that.
Simeon’s eyes gleamed with defiance as he stood there, staring me down. They were emotionless and cold.
I have never seen any look on his face except this one.
“Now!” Londered.
Simeon rolled his eyes, clearly irritated, before giving me a mocking salute and stepping aside.
It was as if relinquishing control was nothing more than a minor inconvenience to him.
I watched as the shift happened and Phillip blinked, his expression softening.
Now the thing was,
Phillip had a split personality.
While he was cold and calculating.
His split personality, Simeon was the exact opposite.
He was fuckin unpredictable.
And the worst thing was that Simeon enjoyed torturing people for the fun of it.
My eyes once again flickered to Karina who was in my arms with wet clothes. I could barely feel her pulse.
I will fucking kill him.
What did he put her through?
Silas. You’re awake,” Phillip stated and I turned my attention back to him.
Without thinking, I raised my fist, connecting it with his jaw.
still felt a bit weak so the punch didn’t hold as much weight as had wanted it to..
urprised by my assault, Phillip took a step back.
silas, what the hell?” He asked, running his jaw.
‘ou had no right to lay a hand on her,” I growled, feeling minty, Anger rises to the surface.
I let myself go, I was going to do something I would regret, and I was avoiding that.
wasn’t supposed to care about her. She’s the daughter of a traitor, so I shouldn’t care if she lived or died.
it I knew I was merely deceiving myself if I kept believing that

Chapter 31
“Why would you accuse her of poisoning me with no evidence? You tortured her this way. Do you wish to kill her?” I growled
He raised an eyebrow, his lips pulling into a thin line. It seemed as if he was trying to understand why I cared so much or why I was acting differently. “She’s a traitor,” he said flatly and my nose flared.
“No” I shot back, stepping closer. My body vibrated with anger, my hands clenching by my sides.
“You’ve let this get out of hand. You’ve tortured her without any proud. You’ve gone too far this time, Phillip,
Phillip didn’t answer. His gaze flickered to her lifeless form, indiference remaining on his face.
“She’s a liability. What if she did try to poison you? I have no idea why you’re defending her so much,”
You know whose daughter she is,
His reminder did nothing to quench the anger I felt, and for the first time, I found myself saying something I didn’t think I would say
“The blood that runs through her veins doesn’t define her. You know whose WIFE she is,”
Phillip’s eyes widened slightly before he masked his shock immediately
“Wat?” Phillip repeated, the word hanging in the air.
“That doesn’t change anything. I know the reason you got married to her but it seems you have forgotten. Don’t let feelings like lust mask your judgment. Silas. This isn’t the You that I know He seemed disappointed but I didn’t care.
I was the leader of this mafia, not him.
If this was someone else, I would have had them killed immediately. I wouldn’t have cared about anything, but with her, it seemed different.
‘Get a doctor to treat her,” I ordered, turning away.
“We still haven’t found who had poisoned you,” Phillip stated and I turned to him, a cold glare on my face.
Did I fucking stutter?”
de was pushing my buttons.
hillip knew better than to go against me. But this was him doing the exact opposite of what I asked.
I seems like I have been too lenient with him and given him more power than I was supposed to do.
Vith a reluctant nod, Phillip gestured to a guard who immediately rushed off.
he best thing to do was to take her to a hospital but I didn’t want her to leave my sight.
don’t want to see Simeon anywhere around Katrina or me. Do you understand Phillip?” I growled and he lowered his head i submission.
‘es, boss,”
Good.”

Chapter 31
Because if I saw that fucker anywhere close to me. I wouldn’t care that he shared the same body with Phillip.
Rushing to my bedroom, I place Katrina gently on the bed
Her wet clothes stuck to her body like a second skin and I knew the needed to take it off.
Without thinking about it, I unclothed her, wrapping a blanket around her body immediately.
Her skin was pale, with dry tears on her cheek, and it made my blood boil.
How could he treat her like this?
What exactly had he done to make her this way?
I had come in while he was drowning her in water, and I knew it would be bad for her because she had asthma.
Fuck!
My fist came down on the table, the wood splitting.
A knock came on the door and the doctor walked down immediately.
I clothed the distance between us in fast strides, grabbing him by his collar.
His face blanched in fear and he opened his mouth, spluttering
What took you so long? Check what’s wrong with her and fix her, I growled in his face, pushing him towards her.
“Let him do his work, Silas. He won’t do it well if you keep getting him frightened,” Phillip said from the door, leaning against its frame.
“Sho-should I take off the blanket?” The Doctor sputtered and I turned to him immediately.
“Get out. I’ll let you know when to come in. I growled out.
The thought of him seeing her naked made my blood boil.
Going to my wardrobe, I pulled out the first shirt I could get my hands on and went back to bed.
The door clicked shut and I pulled the blanket away
Once again keeping my eyes off her body, I pulled the cloth gently on her body, letting it fall to the mud of her thighs.
fer body felt hot to the touch and my heart raced. She seemed to be coming down with a fever.
You can come in now,”
The door pulled away and the doctor rushed in once more.
Why does she have a fever? Treat her,” I ordered and the doctor nodded his head.
e immediately pulled out his stethoscope, checking her vitals
o? What’s wrong?” I growled impatiently, tapping my foot
seems she has gone through a lot of torture. Her body has been worn out but that’s all I can say for now. We need to focus getting her stabilized first,” he replied, his tone steady.
iger boiled beneath the surface again and I turned to glare at Phillip.

Chapter 31
His face held no emotions as he watched the doctor doing his work.
I wanted to lash out at but I knew that wasn’t going to help her now.
But that didn’t mean that I wasn’t going to make him pay.
For the same amount of pain she had felt, he would feel ten times worse.
As the doctor continued his work, I stood at the edge of the bed, watching anxiously.
My thoughts drifted back to the night before when Katrina had cared for me when I had a fever.
I was drifting in and out of consciousness but I still remembered her small hands tending to me.
Hours passed, and the doctor worked tirelessly to bring her fever down, but I still felt frightened
The doctor stepped back, wiping his brow with the back of his hand..
“She’s stable for now, We’ll need to keep an eye on her. But the worst.
I let out a breath 1 didn’t realize I had been holding.

Why are you still here? Do you want to make sure that she dies before you leave?” I growled at look at him.
I heard the door open a second time, and it clicked shut.
Phillip, not even turning
I took a seat beside her, watching her chest rise and fall, the sound of her breathing filling the silence.
I sat in the same spot for hours, watching her as she slept. At least I assumed she was sleeping.

Chapter 32
My world was a blur of darkness and pain, as I was fading in and out of consciousness.
Different voices drified by, sounding muffled and distant, like I was underwater.
I couldn’t tell who they were or what they were saying.
Every time I tried to focus, my mind slipped further away, pulling me deeper into nothing
I gasped for air, but my body wouldn’t respond. I opened my mouth to speak, but no words would come out.
I tried to open my eyes, to see where I was, but it seemed like it was sewed shut.
Panic spread through me, a helpless feeling wrapping around my chest.
What was this? Why couldn’t I control my body?
I didn’t know where I was. I didn’t know if I was safe. I kept hearing voices like they were calling me, but I couldn’t answer
Something cold touched my forehead but it seemed distant, like it wasn’t real.
I could feel someone’s hands on me, but I couldn’t make them out.
What was happening? Why couldn’t I understand anything? I couldn’t even open my eyes.
Voices came again, soft, and once again, it sounded far away.
It seemed as if someone was calling out to me to come to them, but each time I reached for the light, everything went black
My brain struggled to keep up, but I couldn’t make sense of it
My consciousness slipped once more, and the world around me faded.
It felt like ages till I finally forced my eyes open. The room was dim, shadows moving across the walls.
I could hear voices around me, the room spinning
Was there someone in the room with me?
I closed my eyes once more, falling asleep this
s time.
The room was silent when I opened my eyes once
ned my eyes once more, and like
like the first time, it was dim.
I could barely see a thing in the dim room and the thoughts of Phillip watching me spread fear through my body.
I had no idea where I was but the fact I wasn’t locked in the dungeon like before was a good sign, wasn’t it?
The air felt heavy, my throat dry and burning like I hadn’t spoken in days.
Vater. I needed to drink water.
Thinking about water brought back memories of Phillip pouring water over my head, and for a moment, it felt as if I was rowning.
fy heart dropped, and I struggled to breathe, shutting my eyes tightly.
‘s okay Katrina, you’re not there. It had ended.
