KAEL.

“You need to leave. Now!” Rasmus said, and I could hear the urgency in his voice.

“Shit! It’s fucking midnight!” I brushed my hand over my hair while the other was on my hips.

I turned around to look at Adessa. She was sitting, the blanket covering up to her waist. The color had gone out of her face.

“You need to go. In approximately forty minutes, they’ll reach the packhouse,” Rasmus said.

“Put your clothes on. We’re leaving,” I told Adessa in a much calmer voice. She nodded, and I stepped out of the room and closed the door.

“I’ll prepare something that you can take with you on the road,” Aunt Aria said as she walked away from us. I thanked her, but I was not sure if she heard me because she was walking too fast.

“How the fuck they ended up here? And at midnight?” I asked, still in disbelief.

“I have no answer for that, but it didn’t matter at this point. Here…” He handed me a pouch, and I opened it. “Good thing they gave me this after dinner. Or tomorrow would be too late.”

The ID cards were for Adessa with her red hair.

“Those are Adessa’s ID cards that you requested. I also got her some credit cards. I suggest you don’t use your personal cards for safety, as they might be tracking you. Use the one with Samantha Grey for any transactions.” “Thank you, that part slipped my mind.”

“No problem. I’ll charge you double for all the expenses once she’s off the hook.” He chuckled. “The other ID card-that’s the name listed on the Moonlight Ball, so she needs to present that. It’s a masquerade ball, so choose a mask she won’t be recognized easily.” “Nice.” I couldn’t deny the relief in my voice.

At least no one will notice her until I find the King that day. It seemed fate was on our side this time.

I was checking the rest of the cards when I saw the one she needed to use for the ball. “Savannah Gray? Why the fuck did you use Savannah for her?” I asked, my forehead creasing.

Savannah was the name given to him by Desiree when they met and fucked each other. It was not that I was still bothered by it, but I didn’t want to associate Adessa with her.

Rasmus raised his hands up. “Let me explain. I gave my friend, Kevin, your name and requested a plus one for you. He asked me what the name of the plus one was. I wasn’t fucking prepared. I was caught off guard, and that was the name that came first in my head, and I was staring at my gray-colored wall. Be grateful I got you in.”

“Fine,” I said before I let out a breath. “Thank you. Did you get me a car?”

“I got you a rented car. It’s downstairs. The new car is in the Bellouf Theme Park parking lot. This is the key. I’ll take care of the rented car after that.”

I took the keys from him and tucked them inside the pouch. Bellouf was two hours from here.

“Thanks, man.”

“After this, you’re on your own. Don’t call me just in case they tap my lines. I will find a way to call you. Hopefully, whoever is investigating Adessa’s case had checked the list of guests for the Moonlight Ball before Kevin added you and Savannah. It’s the reason I provided another identity for her credit cards, so if they try to trace you and Savannah Gray, they won’t be able to.”

I nodded my head, grateful that Rasmus was already steps ahead of me. “I don’t know how to thank you.”

“Just tell me I’m off the hook for that one night with your ex.”

I chuckled. “Maybe. I’ll see you downstairs.”

“Yup, hurry up.” He said as he stepped back.

He had already turned around when I called him again. “Rasmus,”

“”Yes?” He replied without stopping from walking.

“Did you use a condom during that encounter?” The idea that he was the father of Desiree’s child just came to mind.

He stopped walking and turned around. His hand went to his hair and scratched his head. A sheepish smile tugged at his mouth, and I already knew the answer.

“Everything happened so fast. I had no plans of getting laid that night…”

“I see.”

“If I got her pregnant, then you should know that already. Or was this about some fucking disease I might have passed on to you? I don’t have any…”

“What made you think, after what happened, I would still welcome her in my bed?”

“I have no fucking idea! I was just guessing why you’re asking that when there are important matters to attend to.”

“Go away.” chuckled before

him about the child, but then what if it wasn’t his? I would just mess up many lives.

Besides, Desiree knew what she was doing. She should be the last of my worries.

“I’m ready Adessa approached me with a shirt in her hand, the same one I had given her earlier to use. “Do you want to wear this, or should I get you a new shirt?” She asked.

“I can take that.” I took it from her before tucking the stray hair on her face at the back of her ears. “Your name is Samantha Grey while we travel to the North.”

She nodded her head.

“I got your IDs in here,” I added.

“I’m scared, Kael.” She confessed.

I slung my shirt over my shoulder before I cupped her face. “I got you. I’m here.” Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ ƒind ηøᴠel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Don’t abandon me.”

“No, never again. We’re in this together.” I leaned closer and pecked her lips before I spoke again. “From now on, we only have each other to trust. My words above everyone else, and I promise you, your words above all.”

She nodded her head before wrapping her arms around me and hugging me tightly. I could still feel the uneasiness in her aura.

“We need to go.” She said before she let go of me.

I immediately put on my shirt and slipped into my shoes. I had no underpants, but it didn’t matter. This was not the first time I had gone out without one, so it wasn’t a big deal.

I handed Adessa the small pouch that Rasmus gave me before grabbing her backpack and my duffel bag.

I took her hand in mine, and we rushed out of the bedroom.

I had no idea what more bumps lay ahead of us before we reached the King’s Palace, but I was sure as hell that I would face them head-on just so I could take my Luna home with me.
