Chapter 520 The Unexplained Vomiting
Lysander’s internal body clock was remarkably accurate, so she should have woken up around this time.
Josiah, carrying the child, headed over to Lysander’s room. The door was wide open, revealing only the cleaner busily at work within. Not only was Lysander nowhere to be found, even her luggage had mysteriously disappeared.
Immediately, Josiah adopted a serious expression and asked, “Where did the previous guest who lived here go?”
Before the cleaner arrived, she had been instructed by the front desk. So, when asked, she truthfully answered, “Ms. Thorne has already checked out.”
Josiah’s expression tensed up as he pressed on. “Did she mention where she was going?”
Lysander rarely acted without informing others. Fearing that she might have encountered an unexpected situation, his heart tensed up with worry.
When the cleaner noticed his expression turn gloomy in an instant, she quickly added, “Ms. Thorne had the front desk call a taxi. She said she’s going to the hospital to visit her sister.”
Upon receiving the answer, Josiah felt a slight relief.

Ever since she returned from the capital, she had been constantly worried about Michelle. Furthermore, it had been a while since she had last seen her parents. Therefore, it was only right that she went to visit them at the hospital.
“When did Ms. Thorne leave?” he asked again.
The cleaner could only vaguely recall it. “Probably about half an hour ago.”
A half–hour drive was all it took for Lysander to distance herself from the hotel and reach the suburbs. By this time, even if Josiah wanted to pursue her, it would be already too late. Moreover, once off the mountain, the roads spread in all directions, so he had no idea which one she would choose.
Right away, Josiah gave her a call.
Beep!
Following that tone, there was only the robotic voice message of an unanswered call.
Although Lysander didn’t answer the phone, Josiah understood her temperament well.
He knew that she was either too busy to check her phone or intentionally ignoring his calls. Regardless of the situation, he realized that persisting in calling her would be pointless.
Yet for reasons unknown, he always felt a certain unease.
Josiah stood in Lysander’s room for a while, his mind becoming increasingly chaotic. One moment he was picturing Lysander’s pale face, the next he was grappling with the news of her departure without a goodbye, never to return. Eventually, his thoughts even wandered to what had happened after her last pregnancy.

He had assumed she left simply because she didn’t want to see him. However, he never expected that she had gone straight to the hospital to get an abortion.
In an instant, Josiah felt a chill seeping from head to toe, a cold sensation piercing straight through him.
She had been throwing up for no apparent reason yesterday…
He dared not waste even a minute more. With utmost haste, he handed the child over to the hotel manager, instructing him to find a few stall members who had children to look after the baby. Then, he quickly drove off, heading straight for Central Hospital.
He wasn’t idle on the way there either. Instead, he was incessantly making calls to Lysander through his

Yet it seemed as if these three people had a mutual agreement of some sort. Not one of them was willing to answer the phone.
It was not until Josiah drove into the city that Daphne finally returned a call. Without a second thought, he picked up almost the moment the phone rang.
Daphne’s voice, filled with dissatisfaction, immediately echoed in Josiah’s cars. “Has Ms. Lionhart returned from her mountain climbing?”
“Not yet.
“Why did you call me, then?”
Josiah didn’t have time to argue with her about her attitude, so he directly asked, “Is Lysander with you?”
Daphne was taken aback when she heard that. “No, she isn’t.”
With a sense of urgency, Josiah pressed on, “Did she reach out to you today?”
Daphne continued to deny it, her voice filled with confusion. It did not sound like she was lying at all. “No, did you
call me so many times just to find Lysander? What happened to her? What happened between you
two?
Before she could finish speaking, Josiah abruptly ended the call. Since she didn’t know where Lysander was, he naturally saw no reason to waste his time talking to her.
Seeing that his attempts to get information from Daphne were futile, Josiah didn’t try to call Lynn again. Instead, with his mind in turmoil, he sped up his car. Upon arriving at Central Hospital without any mishaps, he headed straight for the obstetrics and gynecology department where Lysander had once worked.
Upon seeing a man like Josiah show up here all by himself, the nurse’s first reaction was to assume that he had lost his way. She approached him and said, “Sir, this is the obstetrics and gynecology department. You can’t just walk in here-”
“I’m looking for Dr. Thorne,” Josiah said straightforwardly.
The nurse hadn’t quite processed what he said. “Dr. Thorne? We don’t have a Dr. Thorne here. There’s only Dr. Latour and Dr. Vale-”

“I’m looking for Lysander Thorne. She used to work here,” Josiah said, emphasizing her name.
That was when the nurse had a sudden realization. “Oh, I see! Might you be Dr. Thorne’s-”
“Where is she now?” Josiah yelled impatiently.
The nurse was startled by his fierce expression, stuttering as she replied, “5–She’s in Dr. Vale’s office.”
Meanwhile, Lynn was in the office having a casual conversation with Lysander. “Have you been under a lot of stress lately? This kind of situation is quite common. Given your abilities, you shouldn’t have misunderstood.”
With a wry smile, Lysander said, “I have been a bit busy lately.”
“You really should take care of your health, even when you’re busy, but…” Lynn sneakily leaned in closer as she continued, “Did you get a new boyfriend?”
“There’s nothing going on, so don’t jump to conclusions.”
Lynn pouted. “You’re still lying to me. If there was no intimacy involved, you wouldn’t even think of this
With a resounding thud, the office door was thrust open with immense force.
“What the f*ck? Who’s that? You’re Dr. Thorne’s loser ex–husband? What are you doing here?” Lynn bolted to her feet.
Josiah hurriedly glanced sideways. He saw Lysander sitting there, perfectly composed, a momentary relaxation visible on her face.
Lynn subtly shifted her position, placing herself in his line of sight as she said, “We’re in a hospital, Mr. Guerra. Could you maybe be a little gentler? If you end up breaking the door, you’ll have to pay for it.”
“I’ll pay for it, no matter the cost.”
Josiah paid no attention to what was said to her, instead she quickly moved to the side of Lysander, who was sitting on the treatment bed.
As soon as Lysander lifted her gaze, she locked eyes with him and saw that his eyes were tinged with red, filled with visible anxiety and worry. It was quite the frightening sight.
Seeing his strong reaction, she said, “Haven’t I already asked the reception desk to inform you I came to see Michelle,”
Josiah had been in such a rush on the road that he was still panting heavily, unable to calm down. He strained to look at Lysander’s flat belly, his throat bobbing dramatically. Yet, he couldn’t utter a single
word.
Lysander glanced at Josiah, then followed his gaze to what he was looking at, her complexion turning somewhat unpleasant.
