Chapter 65 Not Divorced Yet, Still a Legitimate Couple
Before Susan finished the call, Lysander’s phone started vibrating again.
It was an unfamiliar number.
Lysander thought it might be a patient with an emergency, so she quickly said goodbye to Susan and answered the call.
But the voice on the other end shocked her. “Miss Thorne, hello. We are the Harborbrook Police
Station.”
When Lysander arrived at the police station, she was still limping.
A female police officer saw her condition and quickly ran over to support her. “What’s wrong? Are you okay?”
“I’m fine. I’m here to bail Josiah Guerra out.”
“Are you his…?”
Lysander didn’t know how to explain her relationship with Josiah now.
They had not completed the divorce procedures, so they were still legally protected as a married couple.
But in reality, they were no different from strangers.
As they were talking, Josiah walked out of a room with a male police officer by his side. Upon seeing Lysander limping, he asked the female police officer next to him, “Is she here to report a case?”
“She’s here to bail Mr. Guerra out.”
The male police officer nodded and asked Josiah, “Is this your family? Your sister?”
“My wife.”
Both the male and female officers were shocked and looked at each other. “Isn’t the pregnant woman you asked me to send back your wife? This lady is your wife too?”
Lysander quickly interjected, “I’m his ex-wife. The pregnant woman is his current wife.”
“So that’s how it is.” The male officer chuckled. “But there are regulations for bail. It must be a relative. Your ex-wife no longer has any legal relationship with you, so she can’t help you with bail.”
“We haven’t divorced yet.”
The male officer said, “If you haven’t received the divorce certificate, you
are still legally married then.”
The female officer was even more shocked. “You haven’t divorced here, but she’s already pregnant over

Lysander sighed and did not want to explain so much. “Excuse me, where do I sign?”
The female officer handed her a form. “Right here.”
Lysander leaned against the wall and made her way toward the table slowly. Josiah hurried over instinctively to help her, but she refused politely. “It’s okay, Mr. Guerra. It’s just a minor injury. I can manage on my own.”
She insisted on walking to the table, took the pen handed to her by the female officer, and signed her name on the form.
The female officer guided her through the procedures. “Write your name here, your ID number here, and your relationship with him here.”
Lysander skillfully filled in her name and ID number. She hesitated at the relationship column, but finally gritted her teeth and wrote “spouse.”
“Done”
“All right. Come with me-to the office to get a receipt then.”
“Okay.”
Josiah quickly said. “Officer, let me go get it. She’s injured and can’t walk properly.”
The male officer stopped him. “The procedures aren’t done yet, so you can’t move freely for the time being. How about this? You both wait here and I’ll go get it for you.”
Josiah looked at Lysander and she did not insist anymore. She just smiled and nodded to the male police officer. “Thank you.”
The two officers went to the back office.
In the corner of the hall, there was a row of waiting area seats.
Lysander leaned against the wall and slowly walked over there.
Josiah wanted to support her, but her refusal was obvious. He didn’t dare to reach out rashly, so he just stood by her side and followed her closely. He was ready to catch her in case she fell.
However, Lysander didn’t give him the chance. Although she walked slowly, she was very steady.
It was a short distance, but it took her two or three minutes to finally reach the seat at the outermost position.
Josiah sighed and walked to the other side. He chose a seat one space away from her and sat down.
“Your leg…
“I understand what you’re about to say. It’s fine. It’s just a minor injury. There’s no need for you
you to apologize. Ever since we decided to get divorced, I have to endure your apologies almost every time we
