Chapter 185 You Were Once The Mother Of My Son
Lysander descended the stairs.
Downstairs, in the familiar spot, was the familiar car.
When Lysander was just dropped off by Zachary a moment ago, the area was virtually empty. The old residential district had virtually no designated parking spaces. This was merely a narrow lane within the neighborhood.
The Cayenne was huge. Thus, even when parked on the side, it took up half of the street.
Fortunately, this residential area was far from the city center, causing many to relocate. Now, it was primarily inhabited by older folks, with few young people choosing to live there. The area was somewhat desolate, and even if the roads were occupied, no one would complain.
As soon as Lysander stepped out of the apartment door, Josiah spotted her.
He turned off the engine, exited the car, and leaned against it as he waited.
As Lysander approached, he asked, “Are you going shopping? Or just out for a walk?”

Lysander chuckled. “And what about you? Are you here to share some good news, or to hand out wedding favors?”

Josiah’s expression darkened slightly as he pulled open the car door. “Can we talk?”
Lysander didn’t want to get in the car. “Let’s talk here.”
Josiah’s hand rested on the car handle, his grip tightening and loosening intermittently. “You can see this place from your house window.”
Lysander studied him for a while, then, bypassing him, she opened the back seat door and seated herself inside.
Regarding the issue of the front passenger seat, the two individuals had experienced more than one unpleasant incident in the past. Josiah understood Lysander’s intentions but chose not to comment. Instead, he casually closed the front passenger door and took his place in the back seat from the other side.
Inside the car, there was a strong smell of smoke,
Lysander frowned and waved her hand, prompting Josiah to roll down the car window. “I apologize. My smoking habit has been out of control lately.”
Lysander didn’t say much. She simply asked, “The reason?”
Josiah asked, “What reason?”
“What do you think?”
Josiah didn’t know what to say.
“Turns out, I was just reading too much into things. Recently, you’ve been coming to our neighborhood not because of me, but to scout locations for the amusement park. It makes sense, really. Whether it’s the geographical location or the development cost, this place is quite ideal for an amusement park. As always, you have a keen eye for these things.”

Josiah’s gaze narrowed as he took a deep breath. “I won’t hide it from you. Indeed, Walter Constructions is
one of Guerra Group’s companies.”
“Then, here’s to wishing you success in your new endeavor.”
“Lysander, said Josiah, “it’s ins

the two of us. I want to have a civil conversation with you. Must we continue
Lysander simply said, “Mr. Guerra, don’t forget that you’re now engaged. Shouldn’t you maintain some distance from other women?”
Josiah let out a snigger. “Are you just any other woman?”
“Of course.”
“Of course not, you were once the mother of my son!”
In Josiah’s eyes, flames seemed to be flickering in them.
“Lysander, I’ve spent these past few days reflecting on our history. Given the circumstances we find ourselves in, I think it’s time for some honesty. I did have a pact with Lysanne when we were young, and I genuinely cared for her. But once she was married overseas, I let go of those feelings. When I married you, we led a peaceful and comfortable life, and I never once considered leaving you….”
After a pause, he continued, “Lysanne is the only child in her family, hence she is spoilt. I knew this from a young age. Mrs. Thorne wasn’t in the best of health, so I always accommodated her, which became a habit. When she returned to the country, I thought her actions were just her being petulant. I never imagined she was trying to reconcile with me. Before she confessed her feelings, I had actually been planning to distance myself from her and to focus on building a good life with you.
“But in the end, you still chose her, didn’t you?”
