Chapter 1508Two days later, at Royal Estates.
The head of security approached Lysander with a careful air of guilt, “Mr. Sinclair, Susan has
escaped. We’ve looked for two days but haven’t been able to track her down.”
“Did you check the passenger lists for trains, planes, and buses?” Lysander’s voice was a deep
rumble.
If they couldn’t find her in Starhaven, there was a chance she used public transport to go
somewhere else.
The security head nodded, “We’ve checked. There’s no record of Susan buying a ticket.”
Lysander’s presence turned icily formidable.
The security head, sensing the mounting pressure, nodded with a nervous apology, “Mr. Sinclair, I
failed in my duties. I’ll definitely intensify the search for Susan immediately.”
Lysander waved him off.
The security head bowed and retreated.
David rushed in from outside. Seeing the tense departure of the security head, he cast a curious
glance his way before approaching Lysander, “Mr. Sinclair, I’ve set up a meeting this afternoon with
a team from a jewelry design firm. We’re meeting at the equestrian center to discuss a partnership.
You should come with me.”
Lysander gave him a deep and somber look.David quickly explained, “During the three years you were away from the company, your cousin,
Payton Sinclair, took charge. Under his management, the company has been losing rather than
gaining. This jewelry design project, which I’ve undertaken in your name, marks your return to the
company.”
If Lysander intended to get back in and take over the Sinclair group once more smoothly and
logically, he’d naturally start with a project. He’d use the success of the project to relaunch the
shareholders’ meeting and reclaim his position as president at the meeting.
For the past three years, David had been in name only the president’s assistant. But as Payton had
his own aides, David was basically sidelined.
David longed for the days when he worked closely with Lysander, filled with purpose and energy
every day. Having a goal, a promising career path, and a high salary made him feel motivated.
Now, drawing a meager salary that didn’t match his position, his status in the company dwindling by
the day, he felt sidelined, a nonentity to snobbery colleagues who now dared to belittle him.
David believed it was time to return to the company’s former glory with Lysander’s awakening.
Thus, he negotiated a jewelry development project with a leading design firm. The project was a
means to regain real power.
Lysander’s deep gaze rested on David without immediate response.
David waited, his breathing cautious, for Lysander’s decision.
Each passing second was fraught with anxiety for David.
If Lysander refused, all his efforts would have been in vain. As the president’s assistant, failing to lift
the weight of a project would be a personal defeat.”Go get the car,” Lysander finally said after a pause.
novelbinDavid’s anxious heart leaped with huge joy, and he quickly responded, “Right away, I’ll get it ready.”
