Chapter 1407
Alaric’s face was a portrait of barely–contained fury.
Georgia could tell he was truly pissed, her heart skipping a beat as her usual haughty attitude took a nosedive. In a meek voice, she said, “Alaric, I… I didn’t mean what I said just now.”
“Just go!” Alaric ground out between clenched teeth, a low growl in his voice. The eyes that usually sparkled with charisma now blazed with a quiet rage, forbidding Georgia to come any closer.
Georgia froze, startled by the anger in his voice.
Alaric continued, his voice rising, “And I meant every word I said. You go tell your parents right now. Go on, hurry up!”
The last words came out in a roar.
He had been living this repressed, suffocating life for three years. He couldn’t take it anymore.
Tears started to well in Georgia’s eyes from fear and pride alike. She was too proud and too stubborn to simply give in to Alaric.
With a mix of hurt and anger, she glanced at Alaric with mournful eyes and then shot a furious look at Hertha before she spun on her heel, hit the elevator button and stepped inside.
She was afraid that if she stayed even a second longer, her temper would erupt, and she’d end up throwing a tantrum, hurling objects, or lashing out at Alaric.
Right now, they were only engaged, not yet married. She had to listen to her mother, to control her temper, not to break things and not to hit anyone.
Otherwise, Alaric would be even less likely to marry her.
She needed to bear it, to bide her time. Once she married Alaric, she could let her temper fly freely.
As the elevator doors closed, Georgia could no longer hold back. She was so enraged that her face contorted as she kicked the elevator wall, her chest heaving with anger, cursing under her breath, “That shameless Hertha, I swear, one day I’ll make her disappear from this world! And Alaric, you damn scoundrel, just wait until we’re married, I’ll show you who’s boss!”
“Argh!” She was so furious that she wanted to scream, but she could only growl in a low voice.
She should have never agreed to accompany Alaric to that meeting today. Then she wouldn’t have had to witness his encounter with -Hertha.
Out of sight was out of mind. She then wouldn’t have been so agitated and tormented.
Alaric had his share of flings, but as long as she became Mrs. Falconer, why should she care about his dalliances?
Why couldn’t she just remember her mother’s advice?
Their wedding was approaching, just in a month!
Just one more month, and she could be Mrs. Falconer as she’d always dreamed. Why was she picking fights with Alaric at such a critical time?
Georgia was frustrated and fuming. She had to go back to her mother, to seek her counsel and to figure out a plan.
Back on the 20th floor, Hertha had witnessed the entire spat between Alaric and Georgia, feeling somewhat guilty that she was the cause of it.
She scratched her head awkwardly.
“Aren’t you going to chase after her, maybe explain to her?” Hertha asked, a hint of apology in her tone.
Alaric snapped back to reality, his handsome eyes now held a mature man’s restraint and depth.
“Do you really want me to patch things up with her?” Alaric’s anger had subsided, his voice slightly hoarse as he posed the question.
