Chapter 33
He frowned but didn’t say anything. Then he looked at the woman beside him.
She looked a little disturbed.
After coming back, Summer had been thinking about the children she saw. Could they be Abby and Ballard? She was so obsessed that she did not hear Jonathan talking to her on several occasions.
And what brought her back to her senses at the moment was the quarrel between Alick and his son.
“I have said that I have something very important and have to leave.”
“What could possibly be more important than accompanying great-grandpa to the show?” Alick had a hint of anger on his face. “Don’t forget that today is your great grandpa’s birthday.”
Sanford wanted to refuse but could not say anything. His little face was covered with anxiety.
He just received a message from Ballard saying that Abby was missing. What if she got lost? Would she be scared right now?
“Sit down.” Alick commanded him, “Wait until you finish watching the show.”
“But…”
“Sanford, sit down first.” Summer took his hand and said in a soft voice, “Even if something really happened, it is too late to do anything at this moment.
“Besides, this is the Hill family. It’s safe.”
That sounded a little strange.
Alick glanced at Summer suspiciously. But she looked very calm. Sanford had already. sat back into the chair.
He was even more upset that his son would follow her advice so easily.
Backstage, a lovely little girl dressed in a pink dress was curiously looking at the surroundings.
“Selina, are you sure you want to put this little girl on the stage instead of Helen

Churchill?” The dark-skinned man said, “We don’t even know who she is!”
“We have no other choice.”
The woman named Selina Megan was busy doing makeup on Abby’s face while replying, “If we mess this up, we both know exactly what the consequences will be.”
The man was speechless. When they were carrying the gears needed for the show onto the stage, the girl suddenly rolled out of a barrel. Everybody was surprised, while Selina was looking at her like a diamond.
On the way to Landom City, a little actress in the troupe suddenly fell ill. They were worried about whether they should change the song when the little girl appeared out of nowhere.
The dark-skinned man had no option but to take his chances.
“Can you understand what I am saying?”
Abby nodded at Selina. It was just a piece of cake for her.
“When you get on stage later, you don’t have to do or say anything. Just sit there quietly,” Selina squatted down and said with a sincere and earnest voice.
“Please.”
Just now, she had heard the dark-skinned man and Selina’s conversation. Abby remembered what her mommy used to say about helping other people. Therefore, she did not think much about it and agreed.
But she had requirements too.
After hearing Abby’s conditions, Selina agreed to her without hesitation.
Then the music started playing.
As the familiar music started floating in the air, Jonathan immediately realized which musical it was.
The musical was about the story of a girl who tried to look for her dad based on her mom’s diary. Compared to other musicals, this one had a relaxed atmosphere and was one of the classic musicals.
“The troupe will perform two musicals. The next one is…” Alick paused and went on to say, “Chicago.”

Jonathan was stunned. Then complicated emotions welled up in his eyes.
He nodded. “Good.”
Sanford was not paying attention to what was happening on the stage at all. He was anxious.
Summer obviously had found out something. Could it be possible that she had already known that Abby was missing?
The child frowned and couldn’t figure out where exactly went wrong.
And about Abby….
But soon, his attention was caught by the appearance of a little girl on stage.
The girl had shining blond curls and was dressed in a pink dress. Thanks to the long distance from the stage, he could not see her appearance.
But still, Sanford immediately recognized that it was Abby.
He felt it was incredulous.
He looked at Summer. She looked nothing different. It seemed that she still had not found out the girl on stage was Abby.
Selina’s singing and dancing on the stage were so obsessive to the audience. However, Sanford couldn’t help getting nervous.
Sitting on a temporary swing, Abby did not move at all. If it were not for her big eyes. that blinked from time to time, the audience might as well take her as a delicate puppet doll.
At this time, passionate rock music was being played. The next was Selina’s solo. After this, Abby could get off the stage.
But when the music had faded, Selina’s voice still hadn’t come.
“What’s going on here?”
Jonathan frowned. In his memory, the blank interlude should not have lasted so long.
“I heard that this troupe is famous for its adaptations. Maybe…” Clark smiled. “This is also an adaptation?”
The audience also felt strange. Nobody knew what was happening.

Chapter on
Clark had just finished speaking when a clear solo suddenly came over.
But it was clearly a child’s voice.
The audience was instantly taken away by the little girl who had suddenly appeared on stage. She gathered her skirt and was spinning in delicate dancing steps toward the center of the stage.
It was obviously her who had been singing. The band on stage also soon came back to their senses as they hurried to keep up with her rhythm.
“How come it has been changed to a child’s solo? But she has a great voice.”
Jonathan said in an admiring tone, “It’s a good adaptation.”
In contrast to the inner monologue of an adult heroine, the mood generated by the child had a special taste. The audience was all obsessed with the beautiful melody and were appreciating it wholeheartedly.
Seeing this, Selina finally could feel relieved. Who the hell knew what had just happened to her microphone? But fortunately, that little girl had come to everybody’s
rescue.
No, she was simply an angel.
After finishing the song, Abby went off the stage like a butterfly in the flowers. Selina, having changed her microphone, also returned to the stage. When they met each other on the stage, she gave Abby a grateful look.
And Abby winked at her as if to remind her not to forget the agreement they had.
In the main hall, Summer suddenly stood up.
“Jonathan, I need to go to the restroom.”
Then Summer quickly left the table, while Alick stared at her back wondering what had happened.
What was this woman up to now?
Just now he had realized that something was wrong with Summer. But before he could think things through, Sanford also stood up.
“Grandpa, I need to go to the restroom, too.”

Chapter 83
Summer went directly backstage. Initially, she was not able to confirm that the little girl on stage was Abby until she heard her singing.
No one knew how she had been going through those few minutes.
She was being tormented throughout.
The moment she recognized it was Abby on stage, Summer almost stood up instantly. But she forced herself to stay calm for fear that Alick would notice something went
Wrong.
Since Abby was here, Ballard must also be here. Summer put on a gloomy look.
Before the show started, she had seen Sanford’s reaction and had guessed almost everything. The two children must have come to the old mansion secretly without her knowledge.
But what she didn’t expect was that Abby was so bold as to appear in front of the Hill family in such a straightforward manner.
Was Abby trying to p i s s her off?
“Sorry Miss, the show is not over yet. You can’t get in.”
A staff member stopped Summer. But she was not as good-tempered now as she was.
“Get out of the way.”
Since the man wouldn’t let her go, Summer wanted to barge in. As the staff was about to call someone for help, he saw “Sanford”.
“Mr. Stanford…”
Ballard imitated Sanford’s tone and said, “Did you not hear her words? Hurry up and get out of the way!”
Only then did the man obediently get out of the way. Summer looked back at Ballard. and dragged him backstage. Inside, Abby was getting changed.
“Abby Wright!”
