Chapter 22
JANE

I stared at Cecilia, wondering why she was trying to bring that up. We could have just looked past it and lived on
with our lives. After all, she was Stanley’s mate now and that was all that mattered.
“What do you mean? Stanley, what is she talking about?” John asked and he shrugged, shaking his head which
meant that he didn’t know.
The four of them turned to stare at me and I instantly felt so small under their gaze. It felt as if I should have the ability to disappear from the room that moment because I was ready to do exactly that if it was needed.
I didn’t know how to explain it to them, where I would start from and how I was going to tell them everything without making it seem like I was trying to use their status to gain power and authority.
Jane, what is Cecelia talking about?” John asked and this time around, he directed the question to me, but I said nothing, a lot of thoughts running through my head.
She talked about Beta Stanley being her boyfriend,” she said again and David gasped, placing a hand over his mouth when John glared at him.
Jane, do you care to explain that? Are you and Stanley really dating?” He asked and I shook my head.
“You know that’s not true, so why would you believe that? I cannot date any guy that has or will have a mate. And not even in my current situation, I don’t have the energy for that, “I defended myself.
“Then, why did you claim you were dating him in front of the people there? We all believed that you were really dating him and I felt that it would be very difficult for me to cope if the two of you are really dating, especially since you are living in this house with him,” she added and I refused the urge to roll my eyes.
So, was she trying to say I should leave the house?
Cecelia, the mate bond, supersedes every other thing. He didn’t reject you the moment he found you, he accepted you and brought you to this house. I would like for us to become friends, and I don’t want any ill feelings between us, “I told her.
So do I, and that’s why I’m telling you to explain yourself. At least, it would be better for you to do that now that

they were all here than for them to hear it somewhere else,”

Qq” I am not dating Stanley, I have a lot on my plate right now than to do that. I only said that at the restaurant because it was an inevitable situation. No matter how I try to tell her otherwise, she wouldn’t have believed me, so I just told her what she wanted to believe and used it to shut her up. If I was truly dating him, then I would not be living here,” I admitted, hoping that was enough explanation and assurance.
“What happened at the shopping mall?” John asked and I explained everything to him, not leaving a single detail.
“Stanley, were you aware of this situation?” John asked after I had finished explaining to him, turning to face. Stanley who shook his head.
“Where were you? I left her under your care, so where were you when all these things were happening?” He asked, raising his voice.
“I ordered food at the restaurant for both of us and went to put all our bags in the car. Then, I received a call from my mum and the both of us talked before I went back inside the restaurant. I didn’t know all those things were going to happen ” he defended himself.
“You know she isn’t supposed to go through all of this, it’s dangerous for her health,” he lamented.
John, I’ve told you, I’m not a child and I can take care of myself, “I interrupted.
“I agree with her. Besides, why are you all getting all worked up because of a lone wolf? No offense, Jane. How did your oaths even end up crossing each other?” Cecelia chipped in and even though it sounded annoying. I couldn’t do anything about it..
“Lone wolf? What are you guys talking about?” David asked, his face filled with confusion.
She claimed to be a lone wolf when Cecelia asked her what pack she was from,” Stanley explained and John and David turned to look at me again.
Jane, why did you call yourself a lone wolf?” David asked.
Are you not a lone wolf?” Cecelia asked.
“I was sent away from my pack, so I am technically a lone wolf,” I answered and John snorted.

“Is that your own definition? You were not cut off, you were only sent away. I’m pretty sure you can still mindlink
ents if you try,” John explained to me, but it was the explanation I had in mind that I decided to stick
your
with.
“Why were you sent away?” She asked, getting so curious, but I didn’t bother to answer that question as I felt we weren’t close enough to share personal matters.
Instead, I went out of the room, walked downstairs and I went to the kitchen. I took a bottle of water and chugged down half of the contents, heaving out a frustrated sigh.
I didn’t know if it was okay for me to keep living there, now that Stanley had found his mate. I didn’t know what would happen if the remaining two found their mate as well, if I would be able to stay in the house.
I felt like Cecelia didn’t like me at all because of the way she asked me questions, as if she was trying to make them hate me. But, there was nowhere for me to go if I tried to leave the pack.
Jane,” Cecelia called out and I turned to look at her. Talk of the devil.
“You are pregnant, aren’t you?” She asked and my eyes widened in surprise.
