Chapter 21
JANE
Stanley paid for our orders as soon as he found his mate and collected our orders, heading out of the restaurant with her. I stood up from my seat and followed them to the car, entering the backseat.
I was glad that he had found his mate, but this was the wrong time. She was also among the people that were listening to what we said and she must be getting the wrong idea now.
It was as if the Moon Goddess was purposely doing this to mock me and make me embarrassed, because there were many other times for them to meet than that moment.
“Hi,” I greeted her as soon as Stanley drove into the streets, and she glanced at me, bowing her head in greetings which made things more awkward for me.
Jane, what happened back there? It looked like there was a commotion and that lady was abusing you,” he asked and I forced out a smile at him, not knowing how to explain the situation in front of his mate.
“It’s nothing that serious, she was just trying to play games with me,” I answered, not going into details.
“Really?” He asked and I nodded in response. “Then, what was that about the slap? She would have actually hit you if I didn’t come there and you just stayed there, doing nothing,” he scolded and I heaved out a sigh of frustration.
“I would have preferred to get hit than for you to appear at that moment. You just destroyed everything at that moment and made me into a joke, “I mumbled under my breath, but it seemed as if Cecelia, his mate, heard me as she kept staring at me from the rearview mirror.
“When our eyes met, I was quick to take mine away, but when I turned to look at her again, she was still staring at
me, like she was observing me.
“You know, John would have had my head for dinner if she hit you? He would have told me to return all the things I bought for myself at the shopping mall as a punishment,” he said, his voice laced with amusement and I forced out a smile at him again, hating the fact that he was having fun in this situation.
Cecelia, are you from this pack?” I asked her after I noticed that she didn’t want to avert her gaze from me even though she knew I was staring at her.

“She definitely isn’t. If she was, I would have found her a very long time ago, “Stanley answered and I glared at
him.
Was I asking you? Are you Cecelia?” I snapped and he pursed his lips together, saying nothing else.
“I am,” she answered and he snapped his head to look at her.
“You are?” He asked and she nodded.
Isn’t that obvious? Her pack scent is the same as yours. You are the Beta and you don’t know something as trivial as this?” I muttered audibly.
Her mate’s scent overwhelmed my senses that k couldn’t detect her pack scent,” he tried to defend himself.
“What about you? Are you from this pack?” She asked, referring to me and I licked my bottom lip, looking down at my fingers.
No. I’m a lone wolf,” I answered, smiling softly at her.
Stanley got to the house and he stopped the car inside the compound. We all got down as David and John came out of the house, walking towards me.
“You’re back,” David shrieked, punching the air happily and I giggled.
“Did you miss me that much?” I asked and he nodded, pouting.
I was unable to see you when I left and you weren’t here when I arrived as well,” he whined and I bursted into laughter. Now, I know why John said he always acted like a child.
“John, thanks for the card, “I appreciated, smiling at him and he nodded in response.
Guys, it seems like we’ve got a visitor,” David spoke out, and I turned to Cecelia,
“She is Stanley’s mate,” I informed and his eyes immediately brightened. He screamed, jumping everywhere.
Π
Awwn!” He cooed. “You’re the first mate we’re having in this house, welcome home. I’m David,” he greeted, extending his hands for a handshake which she accepted.
“Guys, come help me with these bags,” Stanley called out and we all rushed to him. The three of them carried

all the bags, leaving me with none.

“You should give me some to carry, I can help, “I told them, but they all ignored me, like they didn’t hear what I
was saying.
“I
“Guys, “I shouted and they all stopped walking, turning to me. “You should give me, I want to help you out,” I repeated.
Jane, we’re carrying it fine on our own, why should you bother?” David asked.
“It looks heavy on you guys. Besides, they are my things and I should help in carrying them, don’t you think? “I

“Did we complain to you? You should go upstairs and rest, you ha suggested but I shook my head.
stressed yourself so much today,” Stanley
You should stop treating me like this, I’m not a child. Let me help when I want to and do whatever I want to. It doesn’t make sense that you guys are treating me like I’m an egg,” I stated.
“That’s because right now, you are and I’m not going to let you win this time around, even if you cry your eyes out. Your leg is all swollen up, you should take your bath so I can apply some ointment to it,” John said, dismissing the topic and I grumbled, walking past them and going upstairs.
They soon got to the room, dropping all the bags on the ground, while I did nothing but watched them.
“David will help you arrange the clothes tomorrow, you shouldn’t do it yourself. You didn’t take your medications this morning, so you have to take it this night,” he explained, but I said nothing and they turned
