Chapter 190 No Doubts Left
Eric’s gaze deepened as he looked at Kate.
Kate moved closer to his touch, her eyes mirroring his worry.
George had let Eric know that Kate was the one who first felt something was off and quickly sent aid to the eastern suburbs. Her fast actions saved them from being stuck much longer.
While he was out of it, and Davison Group’s stocks were nosediving, Kate stepped up.
She did all she could to safeguard him and his business.
However, Eric caught Kate’s eye, paused, and gently asked, “Kate, how did you know I was in the eastern suburbs?”
He hadn’t told her his plans when he left Starlight Tower. So, how did she figure it out?
This question stuck with Eric, making him think hard..
Kate was caught off guard and didn’t know what to say.
Should she admit to having memories from another life, where in this timeline, Eric was caught in a blast in the eastern suburbs and trapped under debris for two days?
It sounded too bizarre.
After hesitating, Kate bit her lip and replied, “I saw you leave.”
Her voice was sad, “I won an international design award, Ric, and you weren’t there to celebrate. I figured you had to attend to something urgent, and then I heard the explosion. That’s why I hurried to your side with help.”
Eric stared intently at Kate, emotions swirling in his eyes.
Kate, however, held his gaze without flinching.
Unsure if Eric would take her word, she had no choice but to be honest.
Feeling overwhelmed and the onset of a headache, Eric chose to drop the issue, trusting her explanation for now.
The tension in the room immersing himself in work.
calated again as Eric turned his attention back to his laptop,
Sitting silently, Kate eventually voiced her concerns with a hint of hurt, “Ric, don’t you trust me at all?”
Her innocent eyes searched his, “Do you really think I could betray you? Is it just a coincidence I was the first here?”

Her voice dropped, a mix of pain and softness, “But Ric… I’d never hurt or leave you. I’ve cut ties with Simon and the rest for good.”
“We’re married, Ric. We’re supposed to be doing this together. Can’t you let go of your doubts?”
She gently took Eric’s hand, her eyes radiating sincerity, “Please, Ric, trust in me.”
Eric looked at her, taken aback.
Since he woke up, Kate had been nothing but devoted. He’d wanted to confront her about his lingering suspicions but hesitated until now.
His instincts urged him to trust her. Yet, the deeper they connected, the more his underlying fears surfaced.
He worried about becoming too dependent on Kate, scared she’d leave once she got what she wanted.
Torn between hope and fear, he questioned her out of the blue.
Her answer surprised him, revealing she always knew about his doubts.
Maybe Kate wasn’t as light–hearted as she seemed.
