Miles watched Kate leave, his usual laid–back look turning severe in no time. Breaking the silence, he asked Eric, “So, you’re keeping her in the dark?”
His voice had dropped its usual easygoing tone, now carrying a weight of authority.
Eric shot him a frosty look and said, “There’s no need for her to get tangled up in this mess.”
Miles couldn’t help but let out a laugh and leaned back, throwing in casually, “Man, she’s just my
muse.”
At Eric’s sharp glance, he hastened to add, “Hey, I’m a family man. It’s all about admiration, nothing shady!”
The chat turned towards the MC studio’s current turmoil, with Eric stressing how serious things had gotten.
Miles nodded, remembering the CEO’s sudden vanishing after the global design showdown.
Eric’s determination was clear as day when he declared, “Anyone laying a finger on Kate is in for a
world of hurt.”
After their low–key chat, Miles ducked out of the hospital room.
