Xavier thought it was Yvette, so he swiftly picked up the phone. However, he saw that it was Daphne. He picked up impatiently, and her tearful voice came through the phone. “Xav, help me! The Internet is filled with malicious rumors about me.”
The Internet? Xavier thought about the birthday banquet and how the newspapers had reported Daphne’s plagiarism.
“Someone sent the company and me legal letters today, saying that my new song “A Sliver of Light” was plagiarized.
“A lawyer even started a rumor on the Internet saying that I built up my fame by plagiarizing. I really don’t know what to do now.”
Xavier couldn’t help frowning. “Alright.”
He hung up and sent a message to the legal department. He wanted them to deal with the person who had started the rumors. He was not interested in the news, so he did not go on the Internet to
check.
Therefore, he had no idea that the news that had been released was about how Daphne had used sponsorships to get resources from the time of her birth.

An hour later, Yvette was getting ready to go to the office when she got a call from the police station, asking her to bail Kiki out. She had no idea what had happened, so she rushed to the police station.
The first thing she saw was Daphne and her friend Yvonne. They were all dressed up, and they were in the waiting area.
Daphne saw her coming. She got up and walked over to her. “Yvette, I know you hate me, but how could you let your friend slander me on the Internet?
“Do you know how hard it’s been for me to climb to this position? She almost ruined me!”
Yvonne followed closely. “Daph, why are you wasting time talking to someone who has no principles? You should just let her friend rot in prison. That’s how they’ll learn their lesson!”
Yvette understood what must have happened. “If anything happens to Kiki, I’ll never forgive you!”
She walked over to the bail area, but before she had taken more than a few steps, Daphne’s voice rang out behind her. “Yvette, it wasn’t my decision to arrest Kiki. Xav sent someone to do it.”

Yvette had received a call to put up ball because Daphne had told them to do so. She was doing it on purpose so that Yvette would see the consequences of going against her.
Yvette stopped in her tracks for a while but then continued walking without saying anything.
An hour later, Yvette still hadn’t managed to bail Kiki out because Xavier’s entire legal department was out in full force. Kiki would be detained for at least seven days.
Kiki pretended to be alright. “It’s okay. I’ll just think of it as an experience.”
“I’m sorry.” Yvette did not know what to say, so she could only apologize.
She knew that Kiki had posted those things on the Internet for her. She also knew that Kiki had been arrested because of her.
“Don’t apologize. You’re not the wrong one. How could Xavier be so ruthless? I posted so much evidence on the Internet. Is he blind? Why is he still defending that slut?”
“I really don’t know what he sees in her. Men are blind! All they do is defend her!”
Yvette hugged her lightly. She did not know what to say.
Xavier had always taken Daphne’s side, even when she had been married to him, and it was still the same now. He never bothered about whether she was right or wrong.
Kiki knew that Yvette was feeling terrible. “Don’t be sad, Yvette. He’s just a scumbag. He’s not worth it.” Yvette swallowed. “I’m not sad. I stopped loving him a long time ago.
