Chapter 82
School had just ended for Zachary, and the driver was later than usual.

Malcolm was chattering beside him. “Do you always get picked up by your driver?”
“What’s the alternative?” Zachary was exasperated.
Malcolm looked proud. “The elders in my family are the ones who pick me up every day.”
“Great–grandpa says that he wants me to feel the love of the entire family.” He lowered his voice mysteriously. “Do you know who’s picking me up today?”
“Who?” Zachary wasn’t interested, but he asked anyway. If he didn’t, he knew that he’d never hear the
end of it.
“Grandma Shannon,” Malcolm said triumphantly.
Zachary did not know what he was so happy about. Shannon wasn’t even his real grandmother. As he was pondering the matter, Shannon’s car pulled up.
It was a high–profile presidential limousine, and Shannon was dressed to the nines in high heels and a bodycon dress. Although she was over 50, she still maintained her looks, and her every action exuded
charm.
“Grandma Shannon!” Malcolm ran over to her on his little legs. He spoke sweetly, but Shannon was
apathetic toward him.
If Clifford hadn’t mentioned that Malcolm’s parents were still abroad, Shannon would never have come to pick someone else’s grandson up!
Shannon smiled tightly, keeping her thoughts to herself. “Let’s go.” She glanced casually at Zachary as she spoke, and her expression softened at once.
“Zac.” One of the reasons she came here was to see the child who bore a striking resemblance to Xavier in his childhood.
Shannon had sent someone to investigate. She had discovered that Zachary had come back from abroad recently and was now living with the Torres heiress, Kiki. It was unclear who his father was.
Shannon had met Kiki once or twice, but she was not familiar with her.
Zachary looked up meekly when he heard her call out his name. “Hi, Mrs. Lane.”
