Chapter 191
Xavier’s eyes reddened as he looked for Yvette like a madman. However, he still didn’t see her after searching in multiple rooms, and he was about to send some people to check the airport.

When he arrived at the backyard, he saw Yvette sitting on a chair there. He finally stopped feeling anxious.
Yvette couldn’t sleep, so she was getting some fresh air outside. Then, she saw Xavier approaching her anxiously. 1
She had thought that he wouldn’t return that night. As they looked into each other’s eyes, he ran to her and pulled her into his embrace.
Yvette’s body was slightly stiff under the dim light. She didn’t see how red his eyes were or how anxious he was.
“Why aren’t you in the bedroom at this hour?” Xavier asked in a deep voice.
She thought he was being ridiculous. “Why must I be in the bedroom at this hour?”
Xavier was stunned, and he didn’t know how to answer her. He also didn’t know why he had felt so anxious when he couldn’t find her earlier.
Before he could say anything, Yvette asked, Is Daphne alright?”
“Someone grazed a knife against her neck, and she’s still receiving treatment at the hospital now.” He told her the truth.
When she heard that, she couldn’t help being impressed by Daphne. In order to achieve her goals, Daphne had been willing to be cruel to herself. “Did they catch whoever did it?”
When Xavier heard that, his gaze turned cold. “No. However, we found out that Claude’s bodyguards were there other than her fan.”
Yvette was still in his embrace. When she heard what he had said, she slowly looked up at him. “What do you mean by that?”
Seeing how her expression shifted, Xavier gulped a little. “Did you tell Claude something?”
He didn’t think she would hurt Daphne. However, that didn’t mean that Claude wouldn’t do anything to hurt Daphne for her.
Yvette suddenly felt her throat closing up as her eyes started to tear up. “Do you think that I told Claude to hurt Daphne?”
After so many years, she had given up on Xavier. However, it still felt terrible when he accused her.
Her pitiful tears were like needles piercing through his heart. He softly said, “Daphne saved my mom before, so I don’t want her to die. If you have a problem with her, you can tell me about it. Don’t tell another man to do something about it.”
Yvette pushed him away immediately with an empty look in her eyes. “What makes you think that I’m upset with her and want to hurt her? Why would I tell Claude to hurt her? Where’s your proof?”
Xavier didn’t say anything, and she added, “You’re the reason why Daphne and I are enemies. But now….. She stopped for a second before smiling bitterly. “It’s been five years. What makes you think that I still
love you enough to hurt someone else because of you?”

The cold wind blew in the dark night. However, it seemed as if Xavier couldn’t feel it at all. He approached Yvette slowly. “What did you say?”
She looked at his cold gaze and answered, “I’m a fool. But I’m not foolish enough to hurt a person for a
man.”
Xavier felt like he was suffocating. He forced Yvette into a corner and punched the wall next to her. The punch landed loudly, and it scared Yvette so much that she couldn’t help flinching.
Xavier didn’t know what was wrong with him as well. He slowly got closer to her until they could hear each other’s breath. “Are you saying that you don’t love me anymore?” 1
Yvette realized that she had said something wrong because she had been too angry earlier. If she were to offend him now, he might find out something. Then, her plans would be foiled.
She clenched her fist tightly and said something that went against her conscience. “I don’t know how I’m supposed to love someone who doesn’t even love me
