Chapter 179
Shannon thought Xavier didn’t want anyone to know about Noah’s mother. She figured that was the reason he hadn’t told anyone when he had brought Noah back.
Xavier was speechless. He wondered if she would still treat Noah as her family if Noah wasn’t his son.
“Stop sticking your nose in this matter.” After saying that, he ended the call.
He could no longer sit still, and he went through his phone’s gallery. He had three photos in a hidden album.
The first one was a photo of Yvette’s examination report when she had gotten pregnant in the past. Then, there was Noah’s photo. As for the final photo, there was the back of a young woman in it.
He looked closely at Noah’s photo and wondered if he was truly Claude’s son.
Xavier didn’t fully believe it, but he didn’t dare to get someone to check. If the results proved that he had nothing to do with Noah, all his hopes would be dashed.
With that thought in mind, he decided he would rather not look into it, and he turned his phone off.
Meanwhile, Shannon was overjoyed. “No matter what, I need to know where the child is right now!”
She looked at the call that had ended and told Mandy to look into it. She had to find Noah, no matter how
much it would cost her.
She wanted a grandchild badly because that would mean that Xavier would have an heir. It would also help her prove to the Lane family that her genes were fine.
A few dozen years ago, Shannon had given birth to a pair of twins. Right after they had been born, the doctors had found out that her younger son had inherited a genetic disease.
Shannon’s mother–in–law had started targeting her after learning about it back then. When Xavier had taken over the Lane family, the elders of the family had started to treat her better.
However, he still hadn’t had a child, and everyone was saying that he wasn’t healthy as well. They speculated that he might never have any children.
Shannon was a proud woman, and there was no way she would admit that her genes were the problem. She wouldn’t tell Xavier about her troubles as well.
When Yvette returned from the hospital, the lights in the living room were still on. She entered the house and saw Xavier sitting on the couch, reading a book under the soft light.
He didn’t even lift his head when he noticed that she had returned. Although he continued flipping through his book, his mind was elsewhere.
Yvette slowly approached him. “I’m back. I saw the flowers outside. They’re pretty.” She had seen them that morning, but she was only mentioning it at that moment to please him at the right time.
Xavier closed the book in his hands and lifted his head slightly. Then, he turned his dashing face toward her and looked at her.
“Sure.” His voice sounded alluring, but his eyes hid complicated emotions. Yvette sensed something was

“When I was on my way back, I saw a restaurant selling great foreign food. So, I bought some for you,” she said as she placed a bag of food on the coffee table.
Xavier wouldn’t usually have supper, but she just wanted to give it a try and grab any opportunity she
could.
As expected, he pushed the food away. “I don’t want it.”
He sounded indifferent, and he felt like something was stuck in his chest. He was the only one who knew why he felt that way. It was because of his call with Shannon and the child Yvette had had with another
man!
“Alright. I’ll wash up and get some rest first.” Just as she was about to head upstairs, he suddenly grabbed her wrist.
She stopped in her tracks and turned around to look at him in confusion. Then, he slowly said, “Did our child really die back then?”
It was the first time Yvette had seen pain in his eyes. She didn’t know how to answer him. The lies were stuck in her throat, and she couldn’t get them out at all
Seeing how she wasn’t answering him, he stood up and pulled her into his embrace. “Do you hate me?”
