Andy had still been harboring hope for Daphne until Claude’s men took him to the address Daphne had
sent him.
When Andy saw a group of undercover police officers hiding in the bushes, he sat in the black car in
disbelief.
“See? That woman never intended to save you. Not only that, she’s been using you,” said one of the men guarding Andy.
Andy shook his head. “I don’t believe it. Maybe her phone was tapped!”
The man couldn’t believe that Andy was so stupid to refuse to accept the truth even at this point.
Claude had ordered them to make sure Andy saw Daphne’s true colors. Even though Andy hadn’t seen through her yet, Claude’s men could take it slow. They had plenty of time anyway.
The car soon drove away. Thus, team of police officers who had been sent to capture Andy returned empty–handed.
Daphne had expected Andy to be caught, but once again, he had managed to escape.
As worry seized her, she was at a loss for what to do next.
Yvette returned to Dewberry Manor after she was discharged from the hospital. As soon as she got home/ she received a call from Kiki.
The first voice she heard was Zachary’s concerned one. “Mom, how have you been lately?”
Yvette had told Claude not to let Kiki and the others know about her car accident, so Zachary was
unaware of it.
“I’m doing fine,” Yvette replied gently. She then asked, “How’s school? Have you been a naughty boy and caused trouble for Kiki?”
Zachary replied seriously, “Mom, I’m not a three–year–old anymore.” He glanced back at the messy house and Kiki, who was memorizing legal documents.
He quietly sighed. If only Yvette knew that he was the one taking care of Kiki. Ge had to admit that Kiki was a bit of a silly goose.
As that thought crossed his mind, he noticed Kiki grinning at him, holding a basic law book.
She really was a silly goose.
Yvette chatted with Zachary for a while and then asked him to give the phone to Kiki. Hearing that, Zachary walked over to Kiki reluctantly and handed her the phone.
“Kiki, Mom wants to talk to you.”
“Sure!” With a book in one hand, Kiki took the phone in the other.
“Yvvy, don’t worry about Zac; he’s doing fine. I’m telling you, all the kids in kindergarten listen to him…”
Kiki began recounting Zachary’s activities at kindergarten in the past few days.

Yvette listened without saying a word. She felt guilty for not being able to be with both children all the time and seeing their growth.
As they chatted, time flew by. Kiki planned for them to go on a spontaneous trip together after the lawsuit
was over.
Although Yvette knew it would be a long time coming, she agreed.
Before they ended the call, Zachary gave her a few reminders, such as to drink milk, take vitamins, and so
on.
Yvette felt genuinely touched by this.
Xavier had left the house in the afternoon without telling Yvette when he would be back. Deciding to rest properly today, Yvette strolled in the manor’s garden.
Yvette had once planted flowers in the garden, but Xavier had disliked the vibrant colors and turned it into a garden devoid of flowers.
The whole garden looked lifeless, much like Xavier himself.
As Yvette walked, she suddenly spotted a bunch of wild daisies in a corner. She couldn’t help but stop and quietly admire them.
When Xavier returned and didn’t find her in the living room or any of the other rooms, he came out and discovered her staring at the wildflowers in a corner.
It reminded him of the year they had gotten married. She had been all covered in dirt and had proudly shown him the various flowers she had planted in the garden.
Back then, he had coldly told her, “Make the garden look the way it used to.”
That night, she had silently pulled out the flowers she had planted as silent tears had streamed down her face.
Without disturbing Yvette, Xavier went back to the living room and called Luther Gresham, the butler at Lane Mansion.
“Luther, get a few gardeners to come and plant some flowers in Dewberry Manor tonight.”
