Chapter 169

It took Yvette a while to fully wake up and realize that her forehead, hands, and legs were wrapped in
bandages.
The sky outside was darker than usual in the early morning hours.
The lights in her hospital room were still on, and when she turned her head, she saw someone slumped
over next to her.
“Claude…” she whispered, her lips pale.
Claude, who was a light sleeper, woke up quickly upon hearing her softly calling his name.
“You’re awake. Are you still in pain?” he asked.
The doctor had told him that her injuries weren’t too severe because she had been in the back seat.
Yvette shook her head. “The driver…”
Claude reassured her, saying, “He’s fine too, thanks to timely treatment.”
Yvette felt relieved and then asked Claude what had happened after she had lost consciousness.
Claude explained that shortly after she passed out, he had arrived with his people and captured Andy, who had tried to escape.
“Xavier was also there. He’s the one who brought you to the hospital,” Claude admitted, not hiding this
fact.
However, he didn’t tell Yvette how Xavier had pulled her out of the car or that Xavier had stayed by her side the entire night and only left half an hour ago.
Yvette knew Xavier had bodyguards following her, and the driver was also one of his man, so it was easy for him to find out when she was in trouble.
She felt grateful that Claude had arrived and scared Andy off; otherwise, she might not have survived. Instinctively, Yvette believed that Claude had arrived before Xavier and thought it was Claude who had rescued her.
Perhaps it was natural to be selfish in love, so Claude didn’t clarify the details.
“Xavier has always forbidden me from seeing you. Does he know you’re here with me?” Yvette asked, worried.
Claude understood her concern. “Don’t worry. He knows.”
Claude and Xavier had arrived at the hospital one after the other. While Yvette had been in the emergency room, they had maintained a facade of politeness, not wanting to embarrass each other.
Xavier had had to leave an hour ago due to some matters. However, he had placed several bodyguards at the door before he had left, ensuring that everything in the room was under his surveillance. If Claude and Yvette did anything, Xavier would know.
Seeing Yvette’s dry lips, Claude got up to get her a cup of warm water and helped her drink it.

“I’ve already arranged for Andy to be taken care of,” he informed her. “While Ray is away, I’ll have someone else protect you.”
After drinking the water, Yvette nodded. “Okay.”
Claude helped her sit up. “I’ve had someone look into it. The man who crashed into you is named Andy Holt. He used to be the owner of a small business abroad.
“When Daphne first approached him, he was already engaged. Andy liked Daphne a lot. He broke up with his fiancée for her and spent a lot of money to make her a star.
“He even wrote songs for her himself. But when Andy’s business went bankrupt and he could no longer support Daphne financially, she chose to return to Tirion.”
Yvette listened silently, not feeling the least bit surprised. She had already heard about Daphne’s past, but not in such detail. She believed that if Xavier went bankrupt now, Daphne would leave him too.
But this wasn’t something many understood.
“So the person who truly wants me dead isn’t him; it’s Daphne,” Yvette said. “From what he told me today, I learned that he did it to please Daphne. I don’t want to just send him to prison.”
She knew that the real threat was Daphne. Sending Andy to prison would be a favor to Daphne since it would remove a potential nuisance for her.
“I want him to see Daphne’s true colors,” Yvette continued.
She thought Andy might come back to harm her again if they just let him go. It would be better to help Andy see the truth about Daphne and let him be completely disappointed in her.
Other than that, from today’s conversation, she realized Andy was someone who did things in an extreme
manner.
Since Daphne wanted to use him to harm Yvette, why couldn’t Yvette do the same and have Andy punish Daphne?
