Chapter 119
After getting in the car, Xavier turned back to glance at the hospital. “What did you and Tristan talk about after I left?”
“He asked if I had saved someone back in university. Yvette didn’t hide the truth.
When Xavier heard that, he remembered how Daphne had seen Tristan and Shannon get into an accident back when he had been in university. She had even saved both of them.
“What happened after that?”
“Then, you came.”
It was
She didn’t want to talk about it anymore. getting late, and Xavier had to attend the company’s anniversary celebration.
Yvette didn’t think it was necessary for her to go back to the office with him, so she said while looking. out the window, “I want to go back.”
“You’ll attend the anniversary celebration tonight.”
Confusion flashed in her eyes, but Xavier didn’t explain himself. Instead, he told the driver to take them to the celebration venue.
Before the celebration started, he arranged for her to stay in a quiet room.
She changed into an elegant dress, looking extremely beautiful.
Xavier stood by the door, and his gaze flashed with surprise as he looked at her. He gulped slightly and said, “Wait for me here. Let’s go back together later.”
She looked up at him and nodded subtly. “Sure.” The way she obediently listened to him sent ripples of emotion across his heart. Xavier didn’t say anything else and left quickly.
It was the company’s anniversary celebration, so Daphne and Shannon arrived early. “Are you saying that Yvette is back at Dewberry Manor?” asked Shannon.
“Yes. I don’t know what’s going on either. Maybe she’s starting to bother Xav again. After all, their divorce hasn’t been finalized yet, and she’s really good at bothering others.”
Daphne didn’t tell Shannon that Xavier was the one who had let Yvette return to the manor.
Shannon took a sip from the wine glass in her hand. She had run into Xavier and Yvette back at the dinner the other day and had been rather confused. She wondered if Xavier still had feelings for Yvette.
When she looked at Daphne, there was a hint of sadness in her eyes. “When will she finally let my son go?”
After saying that, she looked at Daphne again. “Since Xav has agreed to marry you, you should find a way to get pregnant soon. I’ll help you once more tonight.”
Daphne looked grateful. “Don’t worry, Madam Shannon. I won’t disappoint you.”

Shannon nodded subtly.
When her secretary told her that Xavier had arrived, she stopped chatting with other guests and approached him immediately.
Daphne stood nearby as she watched them. She was so nervous that her grip on her wine glass tightened considerably,

When Xavier arrived at the event, everyone shifted their attention to him. Shannon asked her secretary to pull him aside before asking someone else to bring them some wine.
“Xav, the company is successful today because of you. Let me give you a toast on behalf of your father and grandfather.”
Xavier couldn’t reject her toast.
Meanwhile, Yvette was sitting in a room on the second floor and could clearly see the view outside. Since it was a one–way mirror, she could see the outside, but the people outside couldn’t see her.

She grabbed a glass of wine and looked at the people outside. She saw Shannon and Daphne at a glance. She also saw that Xavier was escorted by the bodyguards. Just as she was about to look away, her gaze landed on something.
Yvette had just seen the waiter next to Shannon secretly adding something to a glass of wine. Then, Shannon passed that glass of wine to Xavier. At that moment, Daphne was walking toward them as well.
Even though Yvette wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, she knew what Shannon and Daphne were up to. So, she had no choice but to get up to leave the room.
The bodyguard stopped her. “Ms. Snyder, Mr. Jone wants you to wait for him here.”
She looked upset. “Can’t I go to the washroom either?”
She wasn’t worried that Xavier might get tricked by his own mother, she just didn’t want someone else to get what they wanted first.
If her hunch was right, she figured she could grab the opportunity. The bodyguard couldn’t hold her back anymore.
