Chapter 75
Alyssa hadn’t bought new clothes or bags in years, so gradually, she lost interest and stopped chatting with those people.
The constant stream of group messages was overwhelming, so she eventually muted the group, Unless someone specifically tagged her, she wouldn’t even notice the notifications.
She had nearly forgotten about the group altogether until today when her phone started buzzing non–stop with messages from that chat. People kept tagging her repeatedly.
Irritated by the constant notifications, Alyssa opened the group chat and saw that it was full of tags from Megan and her friends, all aimed at her.
“Megan Slows Down“: [Alyssa, does it hurt watching Sean pick out a ring for Hailey?]
“Just a Child“: [Ms. Dawson, feeling regret now? Too bad, there’s no cure for regret in this world.]
“Why Be Trapped By You“: [I’ve seen people make dumb mistakes, but never this dumb. She literally pushed her boyfriend into someone else’s arms. Bet she’s crying in the bathroom right now.]

At that moment, Sean was lounging on his sofa, watching the group messages with a smirk. Holding his phone, he was waiting for Alyssa to call him and admit she was wrong.
He had purposely taken Hailey to pick out rings today, and all these messages in the group chat were orchestrated by him
He was certain that seeing him buy a ring for another woman would make Alyssa panic.
They had been together for so long, and she had given him everything. He knew she loved him to her core–there was no way she could stand by and watch him marry someone else.
Since she wanted to play this game of leaving, he’d let her crawl back on her own, and she’d have to beg for forgiveness when she did.
These past few days, both Brenda and Megan had been furious at Alyssa. When she came back, they’d swear to vent all their anger on her.
Sean was confident that she’d call him tonight. But just to mess with her, he put his phone on silent mode, planning to answer only when he felt like it–just to make her even more anxious.

Meanwhile, on Alyssa’s end, aside from the group messages tagging her, she received a private message as well.
“Heart Set on You“: [Do you know what a ring represents?]
“Heart Set on You“: [Alyssa, Sean doesn’t want you anymore. Hurts, doesn’t it?]
Hailey knew exactly how much Alyssa loved Sean and how deeply she was attached to him. She also knew that if Alyssa lost him, it would be something she might never fully recover from.
That’s exactly what Hailey wanted–to see Alyssa in pain for the rest of her life.
Seeing Hailey’s smug attitude, Alyssa just smiled. She didn’t bother replying to any of the group messages or to Hailey. Instead, she quickly posted a brief, straightforward update on her social media: [Married.]
She attached two images: one of a marriage license, and the other of the screenshot Celine had sent earlier–the one showing her and Andrew holding hands.
After posting it, she suddenly realized she’d forgotten to block Andrew from seeing it. She thought about deleting it and

reposting, but then decided against it. She thought, ‘Maybe he won’t even check his feed, or maybe the post will get buried quickly under other updates.
With that thought, she turned off her phone and went to sleep.
Meanwhile, in another room, Andrew opened his social media and immediately saw Alyssa’s post. It stood out because he didn’t have many contacts on Facebook–just his family and a few close friends. He hadn’t even added most of his relatives. As for his friends, they were all high–powered professionals who rarely posted anything. If they posted something once every two weeks, that was considered frequent.
So Andrew quickly spotted Alyssa’s update.
He clicked on the image of their hands, smiled, gave her post a like, and then set his phone on the nightstand before drifting off to sleep.
