Chapter 68
Cathy had tried to find out where Andrew lived by following hit in her car, but she lost him. Andrew’s driving skills were exceptional, as though he had trained as a race car driver, and lie quickly left her behind.
Andrew looked at Cathy and said in a businesslike manner, “Have Simon swipe you for the elevator, or… His gaze grew colder. “Take the stairs,”
With that, Andrew started the car and drove into the parking elevator, which began descending
Cathy could only watch as Andrew drove off, feeling bitter and hirt. She couldn’t understand why Andrew could easily separate professional and personal emotions. They spent the most time together every day. She refused to believe he didn’t have any feelings for her at all.
Cathy wondered if it was because she wasn’t pretty enough. However, she had helped Andrew a lot in his work and managed the company’s logistics extremely well. Someone as successful as Andrew needed a capable woman beside him. A pretty face was useless.
She was too embarrassed to get Simon to help her swipe the elevator. Thus, she had no choice but to take the stairs. Unlike Alyssa’s boldness, Cathy cared dearly about her looks and was afraid of bumping into one of her colleagues. And so, she refused to take off her high heels and could only make her way down from the 39th floor.
Alyssa spent the entire afternoon in the design department, reviewing design drafts. She noticed something interesting. Every year, Coleman Fashion released one very impressive design, created by a mysterious anonymous designer. Despite being anonymous, this designer’s work consistently became the brand’s best–seller.
Alyssa grew so absorbed in reviewing the designs that she lost track of time. It was long after work hours when Tamera, the last employee to leave, came to turn off the lights in the break room and discovered Alyssa was still there.
Surprised, Tamera exclaimed, “Ms. Dawson, you’re still here? You’re so dedicated. But I’m afraid no one will submit their designs today. Everyone’s already gone. Coleman Fashion doesn’t encourage working overtime.”
Alyssa smiled, “There’s no rush. I’ll come back tomorrow and wait. Take your time with the drawings.”
“Wow, you’re so nice,” Tamera remarked sincerely.
Alyssa grinned, “Just make sure to meet your deadlines.”
“Don’t worry. We always keep track of time. Mr. Sanders is very capable. He assigns tasks according to each person’s strengths and manages our schedule well. We’ve never missed a deadline. It’s just that the secretarial department gets anxious each time and rushes us,” Tamera explained.
Alyssa nodded. “Alright, I’ll be off then. Are you done for the day too?”
“Yes, let’s leave together.” Tamera nodded.
They headed out together. The employee elevator was out of service, but luckily the design department was only on the third floor, so they took the stairs. As they entered the stairwell, they suddenly heard a “thump, thump, thump” sound from above. They froze.
“What’s that noise? It’s creepy,” Tamera said, startled.
Alyssa blinked. “It sounds like high heels to me.”
“What the hell! It sounds like something out of a horror movie. It’s terrifying. Is this place haunted?” Tâmera swallowed nervously.

Alyssa pursed her lips. Has someone ever seen a ghost here before?”
“No.” Tanera shook her head.
