Chapter 42
Gaia gritted her teeth and glanced at Andrew, initially wanting to confront him on behalf of Alyssa about when the wedding would be and how many engagement gifts would be. However, upon meeting his gaze, she was intimidated.
The aura Andrew carried was too strong, too oppressive; Gaia didn’t dare speak up. All she could do was whisper in Alyssa’s ear, “Make sure you’re not blinded again. No more supporting charity cases.”
“I know. I’m leaving now.” Alyssa waved at Gaia, opened the passenger side door of the car, and got in.
Andrew nodded slightly at Gaia as a greeting before getting into the driver’s seat.Gaia watched them get into the went upstairs herself.

However, after Alyssa sat in the car for a long time, Andrew didn’t start the engine; instead, he kept staring at her intently with deep, dark eyes.
She blinked, wondering if he was trying to mimic a scene from a drama where he would kiss her. After all, he had mentioned earlier about fulfilling marital duties.
Feeling nervous, she clutched the seat tightly, swallowed hard, and with a trembling voice said, “How about we head back first?”
She felt doing anything there didn’t seem quite right.
Andrew raised his eyebrows. “Aren’t you going to fasten your seat belt?”
Alyssa was taken aback, realizing she hadn’t put on her seat belt. She had been so preoccupied thinking about whether Andrew had heard her conversation with Gaia that she forgot to fasten it.

ng, she reached for the seat belt, and unable to resist, Andrew leaned over, pulled the seat belt toward her, and ed it for her.
He then couldn’t help but tease. “Your friend was right; there is something wrong with your brain.”
Alyssa retorted, “Mr. Coleman, as the president of a company, eavesdropping on others’s conversations isn’t very nice, is it?”
“Eavesdropping? I was listening out in the open. You were standing in the middle of the road talking, right? What? Was I supposed to cover my ears?” Andrew glanced at Alyssa.
Alyssa stared at him for a while before grinding her teeth and saying, “Why do you lack any gentlemanly manners?”
Andrew sneered, “I lack gentlemanly manners? Who has them then? Sean? Huh, your friend was indeed right about one thing–not only is something wrong with your brain, but your taste in men is terrible too.”
Alyssa was angered but managed to smile sweetly. “Yes, my taste in men is terrible which is why I ended up choosing you as my husband.”
Andrew looked at Alyssa through the rearview mirror and coldly scoffed, “You didn’t choose me; it was I who chose you.”
Alyssa let out a breath, wondering why she hadn’t known before that Andrew was so sharp–tongued.
She tried to calm her emotions and put on a pleasant smile before asking, “I’m grateful that you chose me. So, regarding the job opportunity I secured with my own ‘self‘, when will you fulfill your promise? When can I start working?”
Andrew pondered for a few seconds and replied, “Tomorrow morning.”
He paused before adding, “Be at work by 8:30 AM. Don’t be late.

Alyssa hummed in agreement and ignored him, leaning back against the seat and closing her eyes.
Andrew glanced at her again and brought up another matter. “You remember the condition I set after we got our marriage license, right?”
“Mhm.” Alyssa nodded. “Not to fall in love with you.”
While saying this, she thought to herself, ‘Who will be crazy enough to fall in love with you, such a caustic man?‘
