Chapter 40
Gaia hugged Alyssa and said, “Did that jerk Sean stand you up again? Oh, come on. Don’t be upset. Let’s not think about him. I’ll take you karaoke singing. I got a new karaoke setup last week at my place. Let’s give it a try.”
Alyssa twitched her lips and replied, “With your apartment’s soundproofing, are you sure you want to karaoke this late at night without worrying about the neighbors complaining?”
Gaia scratched her head. “Let them complain. We’ll indulge ourselves first.”
“Indulge in what?” Alyssa reached out and tapped her on the forehead.
Rubbing her head, Gaia said, “I just don’t want you to be sad. I know you can’t really break up with Sean after all these years and how much you’ve given him. But can we at least stay angry a little longer? Give that guy a sense of crisis, will you? Look at you, you were ready to move in with me this morning, and by evening, when he said he’d come to pick you up, you hurriedly packed up to go back. How is he supposed to cherish you like this?”
Alyssa was hopeless. “It’s really not Sean.”
“Then who…”
“Ring, ring, ring. Please return what’s mine if you’ve taken it. The records inside the shining red star have turned into our dialogues now. Please pay me back what you owe me…”
Gaia was mid–sentence when Alyssa’s phone rang.
Alyssa glanced at the caller ID; it was the number from the call she received in the afternoon, so she quickly answered, Hello.”
rew said, “Haven’t saved my number yet?” –
Alyssa blinked. “I have.”
“Then why do you sound like I’m a strange caller again?” Andrew was somewhat speechless.
“Cough, cough…” Alyssa cleared her throat. “I didn’t know what to say as an opening line.”
“Come downstairs,” Andrew said directly.
“Oh.” Alyssa had barely uttered “oh” when Andrew hung up the phone.
Watching Alyssa answer the call, Gaia asked, “Who was that?”
“The person coming to pick me up,” Alyssa said with pursed lips. “I gotta go now.” With that, she went to grab her suitcase and prepared to leave.
Gaia followed her out. “Really not Sean? Then let me see who it is. If it’s Sean, don’t go, spend the night with me.”
“Alright.” Alyssa nodded in agreement.
Gaia and Alyssa went downstairs together.
As soon as they came out, they saw a Mercedez parked downstairs and a handsome man leaning against the car, holding a cigarette between his fingers. He looked like he stepped out of a comic book.
Gaia couldn’t help but scream, “Oh my God, when did such a handsome guy appear in our neighborhood? He’s even more handsome than those young stars on TV, and most importantly, he has more of a manly vibe.”

Alyssa looked up and saw Andrew narrowing his eyes and looking over at them too, his face shrouded in smoke, giving off a mysterious and profound feeling.

Gaia excitedly grabbed Alyssa’s sleeve. “He’s so hot, so cool. Alyssa, he… he’s looking here, right?”
Alyssa slapped her hand. “I see him, now get your greasy hand off my white shirt.”
Gaia retracted her hand, still looking enamored at Andrew.
Seeing Alyssa come down, Andrew stubbed out his cigarette and walked toward her.
Gaia excitedly said, “He’s coming over. He’s not trying to hit on us, is he? I think he is much more handsome than Sean, why would you put all your eggs in one basket? With your figure and looks, landing this man is no problem.”
