Chapter 37
At that moment, Alyssa had just returned to Gaia’s home and was lying on the couch, applying a face mask and eating watermelon. She was in high spirits having done something significant today. Spotting an unknown caller, she answered cheerfully, with a piece of watermelon still in her mouth, mumbling, “Hello, who’s this?”
Hearing Alyssa’s muffled voice, Andrew’s mind instantly conjured up some inappropriate images. ‘Her voice sounds so vaguely. Is she kissing Sean? She must be cuddling up with Sean right now, laughing at me. Mocking how I’ve been fooled by her time and again, acting like a complete idiot!
The more he thought about it, the angrier he became, grinding his teeth as he said, “Alyssa, I’m not doing well.”
Alyssa recognized his voice immediately, blinking in surprise, she asked, “Andrew?”
“Humph.” Andrew snorted.
Alyssa pursed her lips, asking again, “You’re calling me because you’re feeling down? Wanted me to comfort you?”
Andrew scoffed, “Who do you think you are? I’d want your comfort?”
“Well… their why did you call me?” Alyssa was puzzled.

“Where are you?” Andrew questioned.
“At my friend’s house,” Alyssa replied honestly.
“Boyfriend?” Andrew asked sarcastically.
“No, a girlfriend,” Alyssa said, batting her eyes. I’m your wife now; how could I still have a boyfriend?”
“Humph, good that you realize,” Andrew snorted again.
“Of course, I know that,” Alyssa responded.
“Text me the address, and I’ll come get you after work,” Andrew instructed.
“What? Come get me? Why?” Alyssa was bewildered.
“You just acknowledged being my wife. You tell me why. Shouldn’t a married couple live together?” Andrew stated coldly.

“Is that necessary?” Alyssa probed tentatively, “And, are we expected to fulfill our marital duties?”
“Don’t you want to?” Andrew raised an eyebrow in challenge.
Alyssa thought for a moment, ‘Our marriage is already done; fulfilling marital duties isn’t out of the question, though it’s a bit regrettable.’ She and Sean had maintained their last line of defense for so many years, and now it would benefit Andrew instead.
She sighed and said, “It’s not that I’m unwilling, just feels a bit awkward.”
Andrew suddenly chuckled. “You’re willing but I’m not. Send over the address, right now.”
Alyssa breathed a sigh of relief and replied briskly, “Okay, I’ll send it via WhatsApp.”
Speaking of WhatsApp made Andrew annoyed again. He gritted his teeth. “Send it via WhatsApp? Do I even have you as a contact?”
“Yes, didn’t we add each other after getting the license today?” Alyssa asked, puzzled.

“Unblock me,” Andrew said, tired of Alyssa’s nonsense, and hung up the phone.
Alyssa listened to the beep sound from her phone and felt a bit lost. ‘What’s wrong with him?
She took out her phone and searched for Andrew’s WhatsApp account in her contacts. After looking for quite some time, she couldn’t find him, mainly because she didn’t remember his phone number.
Reflecting on his earlier words, a light bulb moment struck her could it be that the account she blocked that afternoon was his?
She hurriedly removed him from the blacklist and sent a message: [Andrew?]
A reply came quickly, just as curt as his tone on the phone: [Humph.]
Seeing this message, devoid of any emoji, Alyssa somehow found it amusing. She could almost imagine his expression, especially since making him angry wasn’t her first rodeo.
