Chapter 231
Alyssa spun around, caught off guard to see Andrew gearing up to pay for a bottle of water and two loaves of bread. She cleared her throat, “Just to let you know, this is my own little recipe. If you’re hoping I’ll whip it up for you sometime soon, don’t hold your breath”
I’m not,” Andrew muttered, sounding emotionless before finding a spot to sit. He picked up the bread, munching on it with sips of water.
Sitting beside him, Alyssa couldn’t help but comment. “You’re just gonna chow down on cold bread for dinner? That’s really not the best for your stomach, you know.”
Glancing at the calorie bomb Alyssa was about to dive into, Andrew shot back, “Honestly, I think your mystery recipe there is a bigger stomachache waiting to happen.”
Alyssa didn’t bother responding and just took a big bite from her hotdog.
After their silent meal, Andrew was the first to leave the convenience store, and Alyssa wasn’t far behind.
Waiting for a taxi by the roadside, Alyssa was surprised when Andrews‘ car pulled up. ‘Huh, this guy’s got some manners, offering me a ride home. Not bad, that earns him a point, she thought.
But then, Andrew just rolled down the window and said. “Don’t be late tomorrow,” without any hint of offering a lift. He rolled the window back up and drove away, leaving Alyssa in disbelief.
Seriously? The nerve of him! We’re getting registered tomorrow and he couldn’t even offer me a ride home? Alyssa thought.
Muttering under her breath about Andrew’s rudeness, Alyssa was left with no choice but to hail a taxi to the Ocean Enclave.
Once there, a fresh wave of irritation hit her when the gate code wouldn’t work. “Great, so Brenda and Megan decided to change the gate code on me? Is this their idea of a prank?”
Alyssa bit her lip, whipped out her phone, and called Sean.
Right then, Sean was hanging out with his buds at a bar owned by one of his friends. He glanced at caller ID and chuckled to himself. He thought Alyssa would need more time before she cracked and came crawling back to admit she was wrong.
Looks like I give her too much credit, Sean thought. He just let the phone ring. He wanted to play the waiting game, eager to see Alyssa grovel for forgiveness.
His friends caught on to who was calling and ribbed him about it, laughing, “Hey, Sean, didn’t you guys have a huge blow- up? She’s ringing you up already?”
Sean, with a smuggish grin, said, “Thought she’d last longer this tune. Didn’t even make it a day. How boring!”
“Man, Sean, you’ve got a way with women. Give us some pointers” His buddies gathered around, eager for some of Sean’s
wisdom.
Smirking, Sean said, “Wanna know the secret? Watch and learn. With women, you can’t let them walk all over you” Then, he linally decided to pick up the call.
Before Alyssa could get a word in, Sean jumped in. “Figured out you were in the wrong, huh? Save it. You should be apologizing to Hailey for what happened yesterday, Convince her to forgive you, and maybe I’ll reconsider. Meanwhile, don’t bother calling, Just make sure my mom and sister are alright at home.”
Alyssa, on the other line, listened to his rant with patience before retorting. “Don’t latter yourself. I’m just calling to say you’ve got three minutes to get your mom to open the door for me and text me the new gate code. Otherwise, kiss goorllaum
