“Mr. Coleman, can I have a few words?” Alyssa asked.

Andrew curled his lips. “So, Ms. Dawson’s back for more after that drama two years ago? What’s the plan this time?”
Alyssa, aware of the grudge he still held, took a deep breath and managed. “I’m eyeing a spot at Coleman Fashion.”
Andrew couldn’t help but smirk. “Really, Ms. Dawson? Two gap years, and you think you’d fit in with us at Coleman Fashion? It’s not like I’m just killing time here”
Alyssa felt a pang in her chest but quickly gathered her composure, offering him a smile. “How about I throw in 20% of Rivorn Clothing for a shot at joining the team?”
Andrew raised his eyebrows, glanced at his watch, and said, “Goth meeting in ten minutes. But it sounds like you’re in it for the long haul, right?”

Alyssa nodded without hesitation. “Yeah, that’s cool.
Andrew shot Alyssa a meaningful look before stepping into the elevator.
Left behind, Alyssa took a seat on the lobby sofa. She hadn’t anticipated having to wait for a whole day. Her nerves had kept her from eating all day, worried she’d miss her chance to catch Andrew.
Alyssa waited from dawn to dusk, long after the last employee at Coleman Fashion had clocked out. Yet, there she was, parked in the lobby, battling hunger pangs, all because she hadn’t caught a glimpse of Andrew,
Around 8 PM, Andrew’s assistant, Simon Hunt, finally showed up and told Alyssa, “Ms. Dawson, Mr. Coleman’s already taken off. You might as well head out, too.”
He’s
gone?” Alyssa couldn’t hide her surprise. “But he said he’d chat with me properly.”

“Well, Mr. Coleman did say he’d have a detailed chat but never mentioned when, Simon explained, keeping it strictly professional. He paused before adding, “Maybe tomorrow. There’s a good chance he’ll be free then.”
Alyssa felt a mix of disappointment and irritation but managed a polite smile. “Thanks. I’ll try again tomorrow,”
As she got up, a wave of dizziness hit, making her stagger. Simon was quick to catch her, earning a grateful smile. “Thank you,” said Alyssa.
She took her time leaving. Simon watched her go, then popped into the nearby store for a couple of sandwiches before heading back to Andrew’s office. “Mr. Coleman, Ms. Dawson has left.”
Andrew grunted a response, eyes glued to his computer.
After a brief silence, Simon added, “Ms. Dawson plans to come back tomorrow.”
Andrew was just about to say something to Simon when suddenly, the office door burst open. So, Mr. Coleman, feeling vindictive? I embarrassed you earlier, and now you’re paying me back, huh? It was Alyssa doubling down.
Without missing a beat, Andrew turned to Alyssa, but his message was for Simon. “The staff elevator didn’t stop? Someone’s getting fired tomorrow for this.”
His comment threw Simon off. He had just noted the staff elevator’s malfunction, and the president’s elevator only responded to a special card swipe.
Alyssa instantly clarified. “I didn’t use the elevator. I took the stars.

That caught Andrew off guard. He glanced up, noticed Alyssa’s bare feet, and couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.
Realizing she was still shoeless Alyssa hurriedly slipped her shoes on, slightly embarrassed. “Oops, forgot my shoes. But hey, no smelly feet here.”
Simon was left speechless.
