Chapter 112
After Cathy hung up the phone, she wiped the tears from her face. Her chest heaved as she stood outside the ward drawing short breaths for a while. Then, she went into the ward and asked the doctor, “How’s my father?”
“He could no longer breathe on his own and had to rely on the ventilator. Now that the ventilator has come off, he is in critical condition.” The doctor explained to her briefly and did not elaborate further.
Cathy was asked to leave by a nurse.
She stood outside the ward, feeling a little anxious. She truly had not intended to harm her father. She hoped that nothing would happen to him.
About twenty minutes later, Andrew arrived. When Cathy saw him, her eyes were filled with tears, and she wanted to throw herself into his arms.
Andrew wore a chilly gaze, and his voice was as cold as ice. He asked, “Why did Mr. Carlson’s condition suddenly worsen?”
Cathy stopped in her tracks when she heard his question. She stood rooted to the ground and bit her lower lip. Her eyes were slightly red as she shook her head vigorously. She lied, “I don’t know.”
Andrew did not speak to her anymore. He said to Simon, who came with him, “Go and inquire the doctor about Mr. Carlson’s condition.”
“Alright,” replied Simon as he went in to have a word with the doctor.
After a few minutes, Simon returned and whispered something to Andrew.
Andrew glanced at Cathy with a cold stare. He asked again, “Are you really unaware as to why Mr. Carlson suddenly took a turn for the worse?”
Cathy shook her head and answered, “I don’t know.”
She figured she had to feign ignorance. If she admitted her wrongdoings, Andrew’s image of her would be completely tarnished.
Andrew stared at her coldly. It was as if he could see through everything. This made Cathy feel a chill down her spine. She did not dare to look at him.
After what seemed like ages, Cathy felt as though she was about to explode. Just as she was about to give in, Andrew asked, “What do you want?”
Cathy glanced at Andrew. He was staring at her with a razor sharp gaze, making her uncomfortable. She said nothing. Andrew repeated, “What ulterior motives do you have for you to be so ruthless toward your own father?”
Cathy looked up at him in shock and shook her head vigorously She denied, “I don’t have any ulterior motives. It wasn’t m I really didn’t do anything. Mr. Coleman, believe me.”
Andrew ignored what she said. He merely asked again, “What do you want?”
Cathy gritted her teeth and stopped denying. She looked him in the eye and said, “I want to go back to the company.”
“Alright,” said Andrew plainly.
Cathy looked at Andrew in disbelief. She stuttered, “Really?”
“Yes.” Andrew nodded.

Chapter 112
Cathy was overjoyed and a little proud of herself. She thought, seems that my gamble paid off Andrew cares about his savior. In the future-
Before she could finish the thought, she heard Andrew say indiferently, “I allow you to return to the company this time because you’ve worked hard for the past few years and didn’t make any major mistakes. I’m giving you another chance. It is not because your father saved me.”
Cathy looked at him in surprise. He continued, “Your father save me to make up for his mistake. The car accident was caused by his exhaustion while driving. I was merely his passenger. He didn’t want to owe more money, so he had no choice but to ensure my safety. Over the past few years, I’ve been paying for his medical expenses and letting him stay in this sanatorium. I also found people to care for him. I feel that I’ve done my part. From today onwards, I will no longer shoulder your father’s medical expenses and the sanatorium’s expenses. Your father isn’t my benefactor. You shouldn’t consider yourself the daughter of my benefactor, let alone think that you can use this to ask me to do anything
