Chapter 66
Killian Volkov
I shouldn’t be here.
I know Adeline didn’t want to talk to me. She hadn’t answered my calls and hadn’t replied to my messages. But after everything–the press, the photos, the kiss, her sudden announcement–I couldn’t stay away any longer. I needed to talk to her about this, the truth about the kids, to settle things once and for all.
And maybe… maybe I just needed to see her.
I walked up to her house, my steps heavy with all the thoughts racing through my mind. My wolf was restless, more so than usual. He had been ever since that kiss–the moment when I let thy guard down and the feelings I had buried deep inside surged to the surface. Feelings I hadn’t wanted to acknowledge. After her sudden announcement regarding her sudden marriage to Sebatian, I know she lied about it, but when I saw their engagement at the lake house, I knew it was the truth. She was indeed getting married to my biggest rival and enemy, Sebastian Cooper.
I couldn’t just let everything slip away from my hands. She’s with Sebastian now. This isn’t about her. It’s about the kids. I reminded myself. But even as I thought it, I knew it wasn’t the full truth.
The door wasn’t locked. I called her name, but there wasn’t any response. I pushed the door open. The house was quiet, too quiet, but I heard voices–faint and muffled–coming from the living room.
And that’s when I saw them.

Adeline was standing close to Sebastian. Too close. His hand slid to the back of her neck, pulling her closer in a way that made my blood boil. She was looking at him in a way she hadn’t looked at me in years.
It was like something inside me snapped.
The air in the room shifted, and I felt my pulse quicken. Sebastian leaned in, his lips hovering dangerously close to hers. My wolf surged forward, rage and possessiveness erupting in a violent wave. He not only had an affair with her behind my back when she was still married, and he’s marrying her. Claiming her as his.
She is mine.
My mate!
She belongs to me.
I knocked sharply. “Get your hands off her,” I growled, my voice filled with the heat of a barely restrained snarl, and before I knew what I was doing. I was crossing the room in long, angry strides, my focus entirely on the man who dared touch what’s mine.
My mate.
Both Adeline and Sebastian jumped in shock, turning to face me. Adeline’s wide, startled eyes found mine, but it was Sebastian’s hand I couldn’t tear my gaze from. His hand was still on her neck, as if he had a right to touch what was mine.
I grabbed his collar. “How dare you!!” I seethed in rage.
“What the hell?” Sebastian snapped, grabbed my hands, and shoved them aside.
He then stepped forward, his hand falling to his side but his body still blocking Adeline. “Killian? What the fuc you’re doing here?”
you think
“Move,” I spat, every muscle in my body coiled with tension. My wolf was snarling inside, clawing to the surface, demanding

Chapter 66

I tear Sebastian apart. Icouldn’t think straight.
“No.” Sebastian growled back, his eyes darkening. “This is our hose, and you’ve got no right to walk in here like this. I don’t know what you think is going on, but Adeline is mine.”
Mine.
That single word ignited a fire in my chest. White–hot jealousy exploded in my veins, clouding everything, and before 1 could stop myself, I lunged forward and grabbed Sebastian by the collar of his shirt.
“You don’t get to say that, I snarled, pulling him close until our noses almost touched. “She was mine long before you ever showed up.”
Adeline gasped and tried to push herself between us, her voice rising in panic. “Stop it, both of you! Killian, let him go!”
But I couldn’t stop.
Not now.
How dare he!!
The idea that Sebastian had been playing house with the kids, pretending like he’s their father, touching Adeline–thinking she belonged to him–made something primal take over.
Sebastian shoved me back, freeing himself from my grip again and stepping into my face, chest puffed out, muscles tensed. He wasn’t backing down.
“What the fuck are you talking about?” Sebastian demanded, his voice edged with fury. “She’s my fiancée now–so why are you even here?”
Fiancée.
The word was like a punch to the gut, and I couldn’t hold back anymore. My vision blurred with anger, and I lunged again, this time pushing him back until his body slammed against the wall. “You don’t understand a damn thing!”
“Killian, STOP!” Adeline’s voice pierced the air as she desperately tried to pry us apart, her hands on my chest, pushing me back. “You’re acting crazy! Just stop it!”
But I couldn’t. Not when he was here, trying to claim her in front of me like she was some prize he’d won.
“Adeline is my mate,” I growled through gritted teeth, my face inches from Sebastian’s. “She’s my wife.”
Sebastian’s expression changed instantly, his eyes narrowing hell are you talking about?”
in confusion, then widening in shock. “Your… mate? What the
I didn’t answer. I stared at him, watching him as he acted like he didn’t know that we were married when he started to have an affair with Adeline. I was breathing too hard, my blood boiling, and my heart pounding in my ears.
I had kept the fact that she’s my mate a secret for too long–trying to pretend she wasn’t still mine–but now, faced with the reality of him staking his claim on her, I couldn’t keep quiet any longer.
Sebastian stepped forward, his jaw tight, his eyes blazing with fury. “You’re lying,” he spat, his voice low and dangerous.
this is a lie.” “Adeline, tell me
Adeline froze, caught between us, her face pale, her eyes wide with shock and fear. “I–I…” she stammered. Inced at Adeline, putting two and two together. A realization hit me. He didn’t know that she was married to me when they started
the affair?
