Chapter 45
Adeline West
650
I had only one thing in mind since I woke up in the morning. I needed to talk to Samuel and ask how long it was going to take for the elders to come to a decision. I need to leave this pack as soon as possible. I still remember the uneasy feeling 1 felt last night–someone’s presence in my room. I felt a warm touch on my cheek, a familiar smell and that light touch made me feel everything I felt that night at the meeting hall. It was like a dream. I was confused when I woke

up.

Was it a dream?
Was someone really with me last night?
The questions kept running through my mind throughout the day. No matter how hard I tried to push those thoughts to the back of my mind, they kept bouncing back. I hated it. I know that my children’s father, the man who took my virginity that night, belongs to this pack, but I always wondered who it could be.

No, stop it there. I said to myself, I don’t want to think about it right now. Abigail told me that Samuel’s in the study room, and Lheaded there. I knocked on the door and waited for his response before entering.
He was sitting on the couch with a book in his hand. As he saw it, an instant smile appeared on his lips. He closed the book and placed it on the coffee table. He took his glasses and placed them on the book before turning to me.
“Adeline.” He said. “Come, take a seat.”
“Im so sorry for disturbing your reading time,” I said apologetically while sitting opposite him.
He waved his hand dismissively. “What is it, dear?” he asked.
“I want to know how long it will take the elders to come up with a decision” I asked, coming straight to the point. “I can’t stay here for long, Samuel, Tadded. “I need to head back to my work and my team.”
“I understand, dear; I have a meeting with them in the evening I will inform you about what’s going on, okay?” he said..
“Okay,” I said with a smile on my lips. “Til leave you to your reading then,” I said, standing up.
“Oh no, please sit. I would rather talk to you, dear.” He said, “I want to talk to you regarding something”
I sat down and looked at him. “About what?” I asked.
“About Bridget and Tristan?” He said. “Please don’t mind me asking this. I just want to know about your lovely children.” He was a bit hesitant. “You raised them quite well, but I was wondering about… their father?” he asked.
I felt a lump form in my throat. This question. I hate this question. Since the day they were born, there have been so many incidents where people would often ask me about their father. Some are close to me, some are quisiders. I always had nothing to say to them because I didn’t know who the father was
I lowered my head, avoiding his gaze. I don’t know what to say. Should I tell him that the guy who I saved one night had forced himself on me and got me pregnant with his children, or should I just tell him that I had sex with a complete stranger and ended up getting pregnant?

I just don’t know.
“Please, if you are not comfortable talking about it, then it’s completely fine, dear,” Samuel quickly said, noticing my discomfort. “I was just curious.” He added.

Chapter 45
“Thank you for understanding,” I replied.
“Can I ask you something?” He said.
“Yes, of course,” I replied, looking at him.
“I know Sebastian Cooper is a good man, a responsible Alpha, but I noticed his fondness for you and your children.” He said. his eyes filled with curiosity as he looked at me for answers. “It was clear to everyone watching that he likes you.” He added. “Are you both?”
“No, no,” My response was quick, and 1 don’t know why.
I sighed. “Sebastian is a very good friend to me. He’s been there for me when I needed someone; he helped me and supported me throughout the tough times. He’s more like a family to me and my kids.” I said, remembering the times he
was there for me.
“He’s my support system.” I said, my tone filled with emotions.
I know he loves me and wants to share his life with me, but somewhere deep inside me, I feel like he deserves someone who loves him more than anything, and I know I won’t be able to provide him that.
I’m not capable of that love after everything that happened to him. I don’t think so.
“You are lucky to have someone like that with you, dear.” He said
“Yeah, I agreed with a smile on my lips.
“Where did you guys meet?” he asked, curious.
married to Killian.” I said the word ‘married‘ felt bitter on “We actually met five years ago here in this pack, when I was still my tongue due to the experience I had. “I was waiting for the cab to go to the Volkov Towers.” I chuckled as I remembered the incident. “I actually ran in front of his car and almost got hit by it. That’s how we met.”
Samuel chuckled at it as well
“And when we got divorced and he…” I swallowed hard, remembering that painful memory, banished me; I went to the neighbor pack where I met Mary.” I kept the information about Creta helping me to myself. I don’t want her to get into trouble because of it. “Who was like a mother to me, and then I discovered that Sebastian is the alpha of the pack?” I smiled remembering all the sweet moments between us when I first care to the pack.
“I’m happy that you met such wonderful people and made a life for yourself, dear,” he said, holding my hand. “I’m truly happy for you and your children.”
“Thank you, Samuel,” I smiled.
“I really wish I was there for you, dear,” he said, with a sad look on his face.
“Oh no, it’s okay,” I said. “It’s all in the past now.” I smiled.
“I’m just happy that you are with us right now.” I added.
“Trust me, dear, I will make sure Laurel gets punished for what she did,” he said, with determination shining in his eyes. “1
promise.
“Thank you so much.” I said.
“It means a lot to me
