Chapter 28
Adeline West
I was getting dressed to meet that nasty bitch. I was finally happy with my children, living the best life I could with them after everything I went through. I know I deserved it. I thanked Moon Goddess every single day to Moon Goddess for giving my children as a gift for everything Lendured since my childhood. They are my everything. I would gladly die for them. I love them so much, and that bitch hurt my precious habies.
How dare she!!
She will pay for it
My phone began ringing. I quickly grabbed it from the night table and answered it.
“Hello, Adeline. I have fixed a meeting for you both, I’ve sent the address to you. It’s a fancy restaurant downtown. I’ve reserved a private cabin for your meeting.”
“Thank you, Sophia.” I said, my voice steely with resolve, and 1 lung up. As I stood in front of the mirror, my reflection stared back at me. Today, I was going to confront Laurel, and I needed to look and feel powerful. My hands shook slightly as I applied my makeup, but I forced myself to stay steady. This was for Tristan and Bridget. This was for my family. I slipped into a sleek black dress that exuded confidence and authority, paaring it with black heels that clicked sharply against the floor
as I walked.

“Mommy, where are you going? Bridget’s small voice came from the doorway. She stood there, clutching her stuffed bunny, her eyes wide with curiosity.
I turned and gave her a reassuring smile, kneeling down to her level. “I have to go take care of something important, sweetheart. I’ll be back soon. You stay with Mary and be a good girl, okay?” I said,
She nodded, but I could see the worry in her eyes. “Okay, Mominy. Be safe,” she said. My kind girl.
I hugged her tightly, my heart aching. I will, baby. I promise.” I said, kissing her on the check.
After saving cond
After saying goodbye to Tristan, who was still resting. I made my way downstairs. My mind was a whirlwind of emotions- anger, fear, and determination Laurel would regret what she did. I would make sure of it
I grabbed my keys and headed to the car, my mind focused on the confrontation ahead. The drive to the restaurant felt like a Blur, my thoughts consumed with what I would say and how I would confront her. I took a moment to compose myself. My heart was pounding, but I couldn’t afford to let fear or anger cloud my judgment. I had to stay focused and composed. This was a battle, and I needed to be prepared.
I parked my car in the parking lot and made my way inside, the restaurant’s upscale decor and soft lighting doing little to soothe my nerves.
A waiter led me to the private cabin, where I sat down and waited, my heart pounding in my chest. The door opened, and Laurel walked in, wearing a flashy red dress and a mocking smile.
“Adeline,” she greeted, her tone dripping with fake sweetness.
“Laurel,” I replied curtly, trying to keep my composure. “Take a seat,” I said.
She sat down gracefully, crossing her legs and leaning back in her chair. “To what do I owe the pleasure?” She asked,
My anger flared at her smug demeanor, but I kept my voice steady. “You know exactly why we’re here. Why did you attack my family?” I asked, coming to the point.
She raised an eyebrow, feigning innocence. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she said.

I clenched my fists under the table, struggling to control my anger. “You know exactly what I’m talking about.” I said, trying my best to control myself.
“Adeline, you are making no sense,” she said with an evil glint in her eyes. “What are you talking about?”
“Don’t play dumb with me,” I snapped. “You hired the man who drove the car that attacked us.” I said, glaring at her. “Why?” I asked

Her smile widened, her eyes glinting with malice. “Even if I did, what could you do about it?” She said.
My blood boiled at her words, “How dare you!” I said, clenching my jaw in rage. “If you ever come near my children again. I will make you regret it, Laurel. I said
She leaned forward, her smile never wavering. I did enjoy it, you know. Watching you panic and seeing your precious children hurt. If given the chance, I’d do it again.” She said,
That was it. I lost my temper. My hand shot up, aiming to slap her smug face. But just inches away from her cheek, someone grabbed my wrist with a tight grip and stopped me. I turned to see who it was
Killian Volkov. Dressed in a sharp black suit. He stood there with an air of sheer dominance and power
s cold and filled with hatred. “Stay away from Laurel” He said, his tone hard and
care,
He pushed my hand away, his eyes a authoritative.
We hadn’t seen each other in four years, but the hatred in his eyes was the same as it had been back then. I didn’t though.
I was furious. “Tell that to her, Mr. Volkov,” I said, seething with rage. I glanced at Laurel. “I’m warning you, Laurel Parker, stay away from us,” I warned, my eyes fixed on her.
Laurel quickly stood up, tears welling in her eyes as she began to cry. “I didn’t do it, Killian! She’s blaming me for something I didn’t do!” She cried.
Her act was infuriating. My anger surged again. “Stop acting, Laurel! You know exactly what you did!” I spat at her.
Killian stepped between us. “She didn’t do anything. You’re just trying to stir up trouble.” He said,
I was furious.
Tm trying to stir up trouble. She tried to harm me and my children!” I said.
He looked at me with disdain. “Laurel has done nothing wrong. You, on the other hand, are making baseless accusations.” He dismissed me.
The pain and anger in my chest felt like they were going to explode. “Baseless? She admitted it! She said she enjoyed it!” I yelled in anger.
Laurel sobbed louder, clutching onto Killian. “Please, Killian, make her stop!” She sobbed.
Killian’s expression hardened. “You heard her. Stop this nonsense. Adeline.” He said, his tone filled with annoyance and, hatred
I could hardly believe what I was hearing. “Nonsense? She planned an attack on us. My son was in the hospital for a whole day because of her, and you are saying all this is nonsense?” I yelled in anger.
I saw a hint of surprise and disbelief in his eyes, which quickly was replaced by the usual hatred, which I didn’t bother to acknowledge.
“What made you think that I would believe a word coming out of your mouth? You are a liar,” Killian said, his voice cold and

final. “Laurel would never do something like that. You’re just trying to gain attention like the attention seeker you are,” he said
Attention Seeker?
Liar
Is he for real?
“I don’t care if you believe me or not, Mr. Volkov” I said, looking at Killian coldly. “I know what she did,”
1 ignored him completely and turned to the bitch hiding behind him.
“Touch my family again.” I leaned forward, glaring at Laurel with fire gleaming in my eyes. “I swear to the moon goddess, I will make sure you regret it.” I warned her.
With that, I turned and stormed out of the restaurant, leaving Killian and Laurel behind. The confrontation had left me shaken, but I knew one thing for sure: I would do whatever it took to protect my children from that evil woman, even if it meant standing against Killian himself. I will do it.
