Chapter 23
Adeline West‘
of the event still buzzed through me.
After the successful launch in New York, Sebastian and I returned home. The e was so happy that the new products were an instant hit. Sebastian, as always, was kind and gave me the space I needed to process everything, including his proposal. He never pressured nie, a quality I deeply appreciated. His kindness and maturity were constants I could rely on.
While I was busy with the launch throughout our stay. Sebastian bad taken the time to buy gifts for my kids. When we reached home and looked at the gifts, they were overjoyed, their eyes lighting up with joy at the new toys. Sebastian had become such an integral part of our small family. Watching him interact with Bridget and Tristan warmed my heart. He was like the father they never had–always patient and attentive.
Later that day, I joined Sebastian and the kids in the backyard. They were playing a game of tag, with Sebastian chasing the twins around the garden. Their laughter filled the air, and I couldn’t help but smile.
“Mom, come join us Bridget called, waving me over.
I laughed and joined in, the four of us playing together under the warm sun. Sebastian caught me in a gentle hug during the game, and our eyes met for a moment. There was a lot of tension between us. I could feel it in the air whenever we were around each other. This week, there’s a lot happening between us, and I know he has feelings for me. Every time I see him, I find him already staring at me with affection and adoration shining in his eyes. I never had anyone look at me like he looks at me. It makes me feel things I don’t understand.
As the day wore on and the kids eventually grew tired, we all settled on the porch, enjoying some lemonade that our matic Julie, had prepared. That night, as I tucked my twins into bed. I took a moment to admire them. Bridget, with her curious nature, always asks questions about the world. Tristan is handsome, taller and smarter than most kids his age. Well, Bridget is also taller than her age and they have faces that sometimes made me feel like I was looking at someone I knew, but I couldn’t quite place it.
I wondered about their father all the time.
Who is he
What was he doing now!
Did he ever think about that night?
He doesn’t even know that he had twins looking exactly like him.
Every child deserves to know about their parents, and I wish that one day my kids would get to meet their father.
The next day was my twin’s birthday. Sebastian suggested that we take them out today. Sebastian, Mary and I decided we would celebrate it in a special way by taking them outside of the pack for the first time. Sebastian mentioned a wonderful water park for kids in the neighboring city, saying it was the perfect place for them. So, we began packing and hopped into the car for the trip. Throughout the ride, my kids were bubbling with excitement,
As we drove, Sebastian kept the kids entertained with stories and jokes. It was heartwarming to see how naturally he fit into our lives. Tristan kept asking about the water slides while Bridget was more interested in the wave pool. Their laughter and excitement were so heartwarming.
When we arrived at the water park, the kids‘ eyes widened in awe. “Look at that slide, Mom Tristan pointed eagerly. “And the pool! It’s huge!” Bridget added, her eyes sparkling
“Alright, you two, let’s get our tickets and have some fun,” I said, feeling their excitement rub off on me,

Sebastian handled the tickets while Mary and I ensured the kids were ready with their swimsuits and sunblock. As we entered the park, the kids ran ahead, their joy evident in every step. Sebastian and I followed, making sure they were safe but also giving them the freedom to explore.
Thank you for this, Sebastian.” I said, as we watched the kids from a bench near the splash pad. “They’re having the time of their lives.” I said.
“They deserve it. And so do you, Adeline. You work so hard, it’s nice to see you relax and enjoy yourself. He smiled, his eyes following Tristan and Bridget
I nodded, feeling a mix of gratitude and something deeper–something I don’t understand. “You’re a wonderful person. Sebastian. I don’t know what we’d do without you.” I said, looking at him.
“I’m just happy to be here with you all. Seeing you and the kids happy is more than enough for me.” He looked at me, his expression sincere.
We spent the day enjoying the various attractions. Sebastian went down the big slide with Tristan, both of them coming out laughing and splashing each other. Bridget and I floated in the lazy river, her little hands gripping mine as she giggled at the gentle current.
Later, we all met up for lunch. The kids couldn’t stop talking about their favorite parts of the park, their eyes shining excitement Can we come here again, Mom?” Tristan asked, his face hopeful.
“We’ll see,” I said with a smile. “But I’m glad you’re having fun today.”

After lunch, we spent a few more hours enjoying the park. After a fantastic day at the water park, we began our journey home. The twins were chattering excitedly in the backseat, their faces still glowing from the fun they had. Mary was sitting beside them, gently nodding off, while Sebastian drove and I sat in the passenger seat, reflecting on the wonderful time we had spent together.
Then it happened–a sudden jolt, a deafening crash. The car swerved violently, and Sebastian fought to keep it under control. Before we knew it, another hit came, this time from the side, sending us spinning off the road. I barely had time to register what was going on before our car was thrown off course The children’s screams echoed in my ears, blending with the ringing that filled my head.
“Everyone, hold on Sebastian shouted, gripping the steering wheel with all his strength.
The sound of metal scraping against metal filled my ears as I turned back and clutched Tristan and Bridget, trying to protect them from the impact. The car finally came to a stop, and my heart pounded in my chest as I checked on the kids.
“Mommy Bridget cried, her voice trembling with fear.
“Are you okay, baby?” I asked, my hands shaking as I checked her for injuries. She seemed fine; she was just scared. I turned around and saw Tristan. Blood trickled down his forehead from a gash, and his face was pale. He clutched his arm, and I saw blood seeping through his fingers.
“Tristan,
