Chapter 19
Adeline West
I stared at Laurel in shock and surprise. What is she doing here? glanced at the file and saw the company name, “Parker.co, which was under Volkov Enterprises.
Oh! Moon Goddess! I didn’t think that could be her company.
I quickly masked my surprise and maintained my composure. Lurel was taken aback, her eyes narrowing as she tried to process what she was seeing, Lcould read her expression–she couldn’t believe that I was the CEO of MoonLuxe. Her shock quickly turned into a sneer, her eyes flashing with malice.
She quickly composed herself and asked, “What are you doing here, Adeline?”
I met her gaze steadily. “I’m the CEO of MoonLuxe.” I said, thankful my tone came out professionally.
Her eyes widened in disbelief, then narrowed again. “You? CEO? That’s impossible!” She said with a sneer and rolled her eyes. “That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.”

Sophia stepped in. “Ms. Parker, you’re talking to the CEO and founder of the Moonluxe companies.” She informed her, and her tone came out harsh and with a hint of warning.
Laurel looked at her and back at me. Her jaw clenched as her gaze sent daggers through me.
“You… You’ve always been nothing but a gold digger, Adeline.” She said, pointing her finger at me. “How could someone like you possibly build and run a company like this?” she snickered.
I tried my level best to remain calm, not letting her words get to me. “I worked hard for everything I have,” I said, my voice steady.
“Oh, please,” she scoffed. “Everyone knows you only get anywhere by using men.
g from you
“That’s rich coming from you.” I retorted.
“Shut up!!” she yelled in rage.
I could feel my temper rising and my wolf growling inside, pushing at me to attack her, but I controlled myself.
“I bet you slept your way to this position.” She said, “First Killian, and now who? Don’t lie, Adeline. Did you sleep your way to the top here? Is that how you became CEO?”
I remained calm, but inside, I was boiling. My fingers clenched around the edge of my desk, my knuckles turning white, but 1 kept my face neutral, “I earned my position through hard work and dedication”
Laurel laughed with a cold, mocking sound. “Hard work? Dedication? You wouldn’t know those words if they hit you in the face. You’re nothing but a manipulative little witch. You think jus because you have a fancy title now, you’re better than everyone else?”
Sophia moved as if to grab Laurel and escort her out, but I raised my hand to stop her. “Nothing to say, Adeline?” Laurel continued, her voice louder. “You’re still that pathetic little girl from the Silver Moon Pack. Always scheming, always trying to worm your way into places you don’t belong
I stood up. “Laurel,” I said, with a mocking smile on my lips, as pinned her with a cold stare. “Td say I’m surprised by your venom, but we all know you’ve never been one for elegance.”
Laurel’s face flushed with anger, her eyes narrowing into dagger She clenched her fists tightly, clearly taken aback by my sharp retort. Her mouth opened and closed as if searching for a comeback. “You know what? You’re a joke, and this company

I took a deep breath, steadying myself against the onslaught of her insults,

“Thank goodness Killian chose me over you.” She said, a strick playing on her lips. “He’s going to marry me soon. Her words cut even deeper. The old wounds reopened, reminding me of the painful truth that Killian, my mate’s love, had never been mine to hold
Despite the ache in my chest, I managed a smirk, refusing to let her see how deeply her words affected me, “Ah, Laurel,” I began, my voice tinged with icy calm. “It’s fascinating how you enjoy being the mistress who crept into a marriage, isn’t it? But then again, I guess that’s all you’ve ever been good at–sneaking into places where you don’t belong.”

Laurel’s face twisted in anger, and for a moment, she seemed at loss for words. Taking advantage of her silence and driven by the opportunity, I continued, my voice ringing with disdain, “As for this company, it thrives on dedication and integrity, qualities you wouldn’t know about. Unlike you, I built this from the ground up–something solid and real, not just a fleeting affair.”
Laurel’s face flushed with anger and glared at me, gritting her teeth in pure rage. “How dare you!” She hissed. “You think you can talk to me like that?” She spat before lunging at me, trying to slap me. “You are nothing!” She yelled.
I grabbed her wrist and twisted it, pressing it to her back. She gaped in pain, “Let go of me, you bitch! she yelled at me.
I stepped closer to her, my voice steady and controlled. “No, Laurel. You’re nothing. You’re a parasite, leeching off others success because you can’t achieve anything on your own. I moved to her ear and said it out loud, “You’re the one who’s nothing.”
Her assistant tried to intervene but one glare at her, She shut her mouth and stepped back in fear.
“You’ll regret this, Adeline. I swear, I’ll make you pay for insulting me.” Laurel’s eyes blazed with fury.
“I’m not afraid of you, Laurel,” I replied coolly. “Now, leave my office.” Sophia quickly opened the door, and I released Laurel, who stumbled out of my grip, clutching her wrist.
“You’ll pay for this, Adeline!” She glared at me, her hands clenched into fists. “This isn’t over,” she screamed as she was escorted out, along with her assistant.
As the door closed behind her, I took a deep breath and unclenched my fists. Sophia looked at me with concern. “Are you okay, Adeline?” She asked.
I nodded, taking another deep breath. “Yes, Sophia. Thank you for your support” I said, looking at her.
Sophia smiled. “You handled that perfectly. I don’t know how you stayed so calm.” She said, her tone filled with surprise and disbelief.
“It’s all about staying focused on what’s important,” I said, sitting back down. “We have bigger things to worry about than Laurel’s empty threats.”
Inside, I felt a mix of anger and satisfaction. Laurel had tried to belittle me, but I had stood my ground. Despite the turmoil of the past.
I had built something incredible, and no one, not even Laurel, could take that away from me.
