49 Chapter 49 The Hunter
Gunner.
My dad hit Hank across the face with the back of his hand. One of
his teeth flew out of his mouth and slid across the floor.
“You fucking dog” Hank spat with blood dripping down his chin.
“You do not speak of the girl again, understood?”
“Fuck you!” he screamed and tried to break free of his chair.
› Dad hit him again on the other side of his face, this time tipping the chair over, Hank along with it. Dad motioned for Spartan to pick the chair back up.
“I’ll fucking kill you, you worthless dog” he yelled shaking and fighting against the restraints.
“Not yet you won’t, first you will answer my questions” Dad’s voice remained calm and steady.
“I’m not telling you shit” Hank yelled.
“Is Zelena your daughter?” Dad asked, ignoring the yelling and cursing or the stupid idiot,
“Fuck! You!” Was his answer.
Dad nodded at Spartan and he stepped forward, punching Hank in the stomach. He coughed and spluttered and gasped for air.
“It doesn’t have to go this way, you just have to answer some questions and then you can go home“. Dad spoke softly as he grabbed a chair, placed it in front of Hank and then sat down. After

a few moments of wheezing from Hank, and silent staring from Dad, he finally spoke,
“So, are you ready to talk?” Dad asked tilting his head to the side.
“How do I know you won’t just kill me afterwards?”
“Fucking coward” Spartan hissed. Dad raised his hand to silence him but did not turn his gaze from Hank.
“I give you my word as Alpha, I will not kill you“.
I growled at my father, why would he make such a promise to this worm. Hank looked at me and smirked, knowing all too well that’s not what I wanted.
“Yeah, alright, I’ll answer some questions” he said with a devilish. grin.
“Is Zelena your daughter?”
“No” he said bluntly, turning his gaze back to my father.
“Where is her father?”
“Dead”
“Why is he dead?”
“Because I killed him” he said proudly. A growl escaped my mouth and the hot rage set back in.
“Why?” Dad asked sternly. Hank looked back at me and chuckled.
“Because, that’s what I do” he paused before looking whispering
“I’m a hunter“.

Cole and Spartan growled and bared their teeth, stepping toward Hank in attack positions. Dad stood and held them both back.
**Not yet my brothers, not yet**
**He’s a hunter, he needs to die**
**Soon, we still need more information**
Cole’s mother was killed by hunters when we were five. Along with Smith’s Dad. The fighters of the pack tore the clan of hunters to pieces, but not before they killed eight of us. One of which was Cole’s mother. After that, he swore to kill every hunter he came across. In the region that we’re in, being so isolated and a somewhat reclusive pack, we thankfully don’t cross paths with hunters often.
Hank was screaming to Dad’s back, taunting them with his words.
“If I had of known you mongrels still lived in these parts, I would have hunted you down years ago” he yelled manically.
While Dad was distracted, I lunged forward and with all my strength landed a punch to Hank’s eye. The chair tipped over and Hank was out cold. They all turned to look at me and Cole burst out laughing.
“Gunner” Dad growled,
“What? I didn’t kill him“.
If he isn’t Zee’s father, then why was she with him? And he’s a hunter, if he knew or even thought that she was a Were, why wouldn’t he just kill her. When has a hunter even shown mercy to a wolf? What would he have to gain by raising her?

We stood and waited for a few minutes for Hank to come too again.. I got another bowl of water and threw it on him. Nothing. Dad tapped on his cheek a bit while I got more water. The skin below his eye was split and bleeding, and his eye socket was swelling fast. Payback is such sweet candy. He started to moan and groan as he was waking up.
“You little fucking prick” he mumbled. Cole and Spartan chuckled quietly.
“Why did you have Zelena?” I yelled,
“Because I took her” Hank said groggily.
“Why would you keep her?”
“They told me to“.
**He’s working with other hunters** Cole flashed urgently.
**He said they**
“Who are they?” Dad demanded,
Hank let his head fall back and laughed a little,
“They’re coming for you, they’re coming for your little wolf” he chuckled in a sing song tone. My skin burned with a thousand hot needles, I felt like my head was on fire. My wolf took control and my eyes blacked over. I raged out.
“WHO ARE THEY!?” I yelled rushing in for another punch to the face. My fist only just connected with his jaw, as Dad grabbed me around the waist, pulling me back. He lifted me off my feet and pushed me toward the door of the cell.
**Get him out of here**

Dad flashed. Cole grabbed my arms and kept pulling me up the
stairs.
“I’ll fucking kill you, you psycho cunt” I screamed down the
staircase. I could hear Hank laughing behind me. Cole got me outside and let me go.
“Take a breath Gunner” he said calmly. I tried to rush past him back into the cabin but he caught me. I screamed in frustration and turned to punch the closest thing to me, it was a tree. The bark splintered and the tree creaked at the force of my fist.
“Feel better?” Cole joked,
“Don’t laugh, you heard him, there’s more coming”
“Yes, I heard him. I heard him say that he’s a hunter. So, this isn’t just about Zelena anymore“.
I turned to look at my friend. His face was full of hurt and anger. Having a hunter so close must be torturous for him. I walked to him and pulled him into my arms.
“I’m sorry brother“.
I squeezed him tight and he hugged me back. He patted my back and we both took a deep breath.
“So, let’s evaluate everything so far” Cole said pulling himself from
my arms. I nodded.
“He was given orders to take her, but not to kill her. Plus, he knew she is a Were” Cole spoke slowly, thinking about the words he was saying.

her wolf” Cole asked.
“Do you think maybe he knew she was special?” I asked him, ignoring his last question. I still can’t bare to think about that monster touching her.
“He knew of her line” Dad said walking out the door and coming over to us, while wiping blood off his hands.
“Huh?” I questioned looking at him intently,
“He knew that she’s descended from Selena, but he doesn’t know she is the Triple Goddess”
“He said that?” I snapped,
“Not in so many words” Dad smirked.
I growled and went to go back into the cabin. I’m going to kill this worthless heap of crap. Dad grabbed me before I could go past him,
“He has nothing more that he can tell us” Dad said sternly,
“I’m going to test that theory” I growled and tried to shake out of
his hold.
“Gunner, enough” he growled back. I stepped back and curled my hands into fists, I lifted my chin and screamed.
“Fuck!” I shouted into the air.
I turned away from my father and ran my fingers through my hair. I think Zee is in more danger than I first thought. If hunters know about her line and they kidnapped her because of it, then they must know of her power and possibilities. If they are coming, it won’t just be a couple of hunters. It will be a whole fucking army.

“Son?” Dad said softly,
“Yeah?” I answered turning to look at him.
“He uh… he wants to talk to her”
“Are we sure that’s a good idea?” questioned Cole.
I know that she wants to talk to him herself, she said as much. But that was when she still thought he was her father. Now though, with the light of this new information, I’m not sure. Can I really keep her from him though? Is that fair? She deserves to ask her own questions. Perhaps I’m being selfish in wanting to keep her from this revelation. I sighed to myself and flashed Smith.
**Smith?**
**Yeah boss man**
**How is she?**
**She’s actually really fucking great**
I growled with jealousy seeping into me. The growl sounded through the link to Smith.
**I mean her training is really great. Gunner, she’s a natural**
**He wants to see her**
**Oh?**
**Do you think she can handle it?**
**I think you need to give her a little more credit man**
I looked at Cole who was listening to our flash. He nodded, agreeing with Smith.

**Try and prepare her a little**

**This isn’t what she’s expecting**

I turned to tell my dad, but he was now whispering with Spartan. I tilted my head at them curiously
“What?” I questioned,
“It can wait son, is Zelena coming?”
“Yes. Smith is bringing her in” I answered.
