“How about I sleep with you later? Cynthia said softly as she lay in Liam’s arms. She was listless because she had been worried about Queena and couldn’t get much sleep the night before.
When Liam heard that, he smiled and walked over to the coffee table with Cynthia in his arms. She sat on the couch and watched as he opened the lunch box. The aroma of clam soup immediately filled the air. Cynthia took a deep sniff, and her face was full of happiness. She commented, “You’re so thoughtful, Honey.”
Liam handed Cynthia the spoon and sat beside her, saying, “Eat. You didn’t sleep well last night, so I made you some good food to replenish your body”
Cynthia eagerly scooped up a spoonful of clam soup and ate it, but immediately burned her tongue and stuck it out
“Eat slowly. I thought you woul
wouldn’t eat that fast, so I deliberately made it hotter, Liam explained while wiping Cynthia’s mouth with a tissue.
“It smells so good. I can’t help it,” Cynthia said, blinking cheekily.
“Give me a minute, Liam said. He found a container in the room and filled it with water. Then, he placed the lunch box in the container and stirred the chowder occasionally with a spoon. A few minutes later, when the chowder was about the right temperature, he took it out. Cynthia was touched when she tasted the food.
Cynthia had a small appetite and was full after eating half of the lunch box. Liam took the lunch box, ate the rest without hesitation, and put it away after washing it Cynthia was lying lazily on the couch when he lifted her and headed for the bed.
