Chapter 36
Cynthia missed the warmth as soon as it was gone and just wanted to snuggle up again. She could hardly stand it. Right as she got really antsy, suddenly she felt light as a feather–Liam had scooped her up and was taking her to the bathroom. Looking up at him, she was all confused until he chuckled. “Hang tight, my little clingy kitten. We’ll get back to it after a quick wash.” He winked. Cynthia’s ears turned bright red, and she hid her face against his chest, mumbling. “You went right to it when we got home… I almost thought you’d-”
“Skip the cleanup?” Liam said, playfully cutting her off.
She nodded, her face all hot, then added, “Actually, it’s not always a must… is it?” Feeling Liam laugh, she wondered why he found this funny.
Liam’s voice was like a smooth blanket. “Guess I’ve left you wanting these past days,” he said. “But don’t worry, I’ll
make it quick. Gotta be careful with a delicate woman like you.”
Now Cynthia was super embarrassed. She just didn’t want them to spend forever in the bathroom, thinking back
on how intense last time was.
They dashed into the bathroom, not even bothering with the tub. They just stood under the shower’s rain. Cynthia’s wet hair stuck to her, making her look, well, irresistible. Liam couldn’t get enough. Before she knew it, Cynthia was propped against the vanity, and Liam was right there, holding her and kissing her until she was gasping for air. Then he stopped, and she caught their messy reflection. The sound of the water was all that filled the silence, and it was all so overwhelming, she couldn’t even look.
“Baby, open your eyes,” Liam said.
Cynthia shook her head, lip between her teeth.
“Just look, you’re beautiful,” he urged, half teasing, half demanding.
She peeked, got a glimpse, and had to close her eyes again. Her heart was going wild, and that shower just kept
pouring down.
Afterwards, Cynthia was totally wiped out. Liam rinsed her off gently in the tub. She was so tired and shy, she just closed her eyes, cheeks red. Once they were clean, Liam tucked her into bed before heading to his study. The Sullivan Group’s headquarters had just moved back to Clusia, and there was a ton of work waiting for him. Moreover, there was a charity auction that evening, and he wanted to surprise Cynthia.
In his study, his assistant Ziv had a bunch of important papers ready. He had raced over to Sullivan Group without even a water break after arriving and ended up waiting an hour for him in the study. Ziv told him everything he needed to know about work, then he left.
Meanwhile, Cynthia had fallen asleep the minute her head hit the pillow. All that action plus waking up early had

her out cold until her stomach woke her up around two. Sore and hungry, she fumbled downstairs.
Winnie, ready when she saw Cynthia coming, served up a hot meal she’d kept warm.

Cynthia was just about to dig in when she noticed Winnie rush upstairs. A moment later, Liam strode down, towering and cool as ever. She swallowed her bite and blurted, “Didn’t you have a ton of work? I figured you’d be buried in it after your trip.”
Liam slid into a chair, snagging some silverware. Cynthia’s eyes went wide. She checked the clock then back at Liam, who was chowing down like a king. “You’re just eating now, after two?” She had crashed out, but why Liam
didn’t have meal till now?
He shot her a sweet glance. “Eat up.”
Winnie popped in, grinning. “I just asked Mr. Sullivan to have the meal first but he refused for fear that you would be bored while eating alone. He wanted to be with you.”
Cynthia’s heart melted a little. She felt bad making him wait but smiled, “Next time, just wake me up, okay?”
Liam teased, squeezing her cheek. “You’re like a little sleeping pig, can’t wake you for nothing.”
Cynthia started to argue, then clammed up, aware of Winnie. She ducked her head, her face on fire. Liam couldn’t help but smile.
Winnie watched them, all motherly pride. She’d seen Liam grow up, always so guarded. He’d become even more of an ice block after his parents‘ crash. But here he was, grinning because of Cynthia. He loved her a lot.
With Cynthia blushing and chowing down, Winnie slipped out.
Post–meal, Cynthia was feeling more like herself, albeit a bit stiff. But no matter, Liam led her to Jerry’s, the styling wizard of Clusia. Tonight’s charity auction was a big deal, with Auroran’s big shots showing off and showing out- philanthropy for the guys, fashion battle for the gals. When Jerry saw Cynthia, his eyes nearly popped out of his head. However, upon noticing her casual clothes, his brows scrunched up tightly.
