Chapter 55
KAIDEN STIRLING
The teacher looked taken aback by Safiya’s words and through the worry and anxiety I was feeling, I could not help the rush of embarrassment that flowed through me.
“Luna, there is absolutely no way that Cisco could have saved Harper. He must have known that yet he tried to help her and that resulted in both of them falling,” she said, speaking out her mind.
The weight of the situation I was being faced with hit me fully and I realized that I could very easily lose both of my children in one day. With the injuries I was seeing on them it did not seem like what two young children could endure.
Tears fell down from my eyes and I wiped them speedily, not wanting anyone to see them.
I was about to turn around and face the window until I was strong enough to completely stop my tears but I was distracted by someone rushing into the room. It was Freda. She must have heard the news. Oh no…
Francisco was like her world, her life. If anything happened to him…
I did not want to imagine what would happen.
“Cisco… Francisco!” She called, immediately hurrying to his bedside, seeming oblivious of everyone else in the room. That

was how anxious she was.
F**k.
“What happened to him? What exactly happened to him?” She turned to the teacher with tears in her eyes grasping her hands and urging her to tell her what had caused her son to be in this
state.
“Harper was falling down the stairs and he tried to stop her from falling. They’re still children, Freda. He could not hold his weight and hers… And he fell too. They had been playing,” the teacher explained regretfully and I was selfishly happy that I was not the one that had to remember and tell that story over and over to the parents of the injured children.
“Harper?” Freda whispered and as if something clicked in her head, she looked around the room and sighted Safiya and I. She blinked before looking back down at her son as ars started to stream down her face. “Francisco,” she whispered as she ran her hand over his hair. “Oh my baby,” she sobbed, running her thumb over his bottom lip that had a small cut. It had been treated but it was still red and rough looking.
I looked at Safiya who had been pacing beside Harper’s bed when I realized that she had been quiet for too long. It was too late. She was already advancing towards Freda with her hands. clenched into a fist.
She was mad. Very mad.
But her anger was not warranted because I was sure that Francisco was not responsible for Harper getting injured. They cared about each other too much to hurt each other. If he had tried to hurt her, why was he so severely injured?

“This is all your fault,” Safiya said through gritted teeth, wiping furiously at tears that left her eyes.
“Safiya,” I called her name in warning.
Freda looked up at her slowly. There was pain in her eyes but it was gradually turning to anger.
“Excuse me?” Freda asked, probably trying to be sure she had heard Safiya right. “I was not even there. How is this my fault??” She questioned, looking at Safiya like she was the most s**d thing that had ever happened to this world.
I was so ashamed and embarrassed. Maybe she was.
“Your son pushed my daughter,” Safiya insisted. “Your b**d of a son pushed my daughter and got her hurt!” She said, taking a step closer to Freda.
Freda’s brown eyes seemed to flash the color of lava for a second before she took a deep breath to calm herself. “The father of my son is right over there, so I’m just going to ignore that b**d comment,” she said in a calm tone.
Safiya’s face turned red with anger and I was not sure what had caused her anger. Freda’s calm tone or her words. Maybe both.
Freda was far from done. “You have no idea how absolutely ridiculous you look and sound saying this in front of everyone. My son pushed your daughter? How did he get those injuries? How is he unconscious right now? Not everyone is cruel like you, Safiya! Just because you can do something like that doesn’t mean my son can!” Freda ranted. Tears started to come down her eyes again and my heart broke.

Not only did she have to face her son in this state. She also had to endure her sister saying a load of accusatory nonsense against her and her son.
“Safiya, that is enough,” I sighed taking a step towards them. “You don’t get to tell me what to do, abuser!” She yelled at me, causing me to pause in my tracks.
What?
Freda glanced between Safiya and I with confusion and I looked away from her before I could see the hatred she held for me intensify at her sister’s words.
Freda and Safiya were not on good terms but I knew that Freda would not hesitate to support her sister when it came to me.
I decided to back off except this became physical They needed to handle themselves. I had children that were probably legally
hurt.
Safiya squared up to Freda, with her face in Freda’s face. “It’s your fault he’s hurt though, don’t you think? Regardless of what happened, you brought him back here. If you hadn’t, he wouldn’t have been hurt right now. You came back. With him. You
brought this on both of us!” Safiya yelled the last sentence and Freda’s eyes went from angry to sad.
Shit. Shit, I was going to have to intervene whether they wanted
me to or not.
As I took a step towards me, a child rushed in. He seemed to be a year or two older than Harper and Francisco.
“Francisco did it,” he said breathlessly, like he had been running.
Chapter 55-
The teacher who had been watching the drama with wide eyes looked at him.
“What did you say?” She asked. “I was there. I saw Francisco push Harper and she held his hand to stop herself from falling. Two of them fell together,” he said and the whole room went silent… Before Freda exploded.
