Chapter 116

FREDA WHITLOCK

I found myself in front of the pack house, I hurried out of my car. I was breathless, scared and ashamed. But if I was going to do this to make my son happy, if was going to do it to make him feel better about the whole thing that had happened yesterday… If I have to beg Kaiden Stirling to stand in as my son’s father (which he actually was), Then i have to do it.

Lyra had taken him to his school for the school party after I had promised him that Kaiden was going to come to the party. I was going to make him come, at any cost.

I walked into the pack house and headed straight to the alpha’s quarters, where I knew Kaiden was going to be. I took a deep breath and pushed open the door and the guard who seemed to be on duty looked at me warily, probably because of the

determination on my face. I was not going to let him, or anyone stop me. This was for Francisco.

“I need to see the alpha. Don’t tell him who it is, just tell him someone is here that has to see him,” I said and the maid close to him looked at him with amusement. “Go now! please, “I said to the maid and she nodded, hurrying towards the stairs.

I was standing around the bottom of the stairs, waiting for him to come down. I did not expect to see Safiya coming down and I remembered that she lived here. It did not make me bitter. It only annoyed me because I knew she was going to try to make trouble. She definitely was. It was unavoidable.

“What are you doing here?” She asked and I let out a sigh. “Look, Safiya. I’m not trying to make trouble with you. I hate that I have to do this, but I don’t have a choice and I’m not going to let you stop me.” I said with a determination in my voice that made even her freeze.

“What are you even talking about? That does not answer my question,” she said with a voice that sounded almost hateful. I knew she hated me but I was not going to allow her ruin this day, Not today. “I’m here to see my son’s father. My son needs to see him,” I said with a sigh and her face immediately turned red with fury.

I had not intended to anger her further but I had.

“Get out of here, right now. You’ve done enough,” she said and my eyes flew in the direction of the stairs as soon as I heard footsteps. It was Kaiden with the maid coming behind him.

“Oh goddess,” he sighed on sighting me and my sister standing together a few feet away from him. “What is this? What’s going on?” He asked. He looked perfectly healthy and at the same time, he looked sickly and exhausted. It could just be that I was slowly losing my mind, or he was actually a mix of both.

“I need you to come to the party,” I said, going straight to the point. “What?” He questioned, looking at me as if he doubted what he had just heard, as if he was wondering if he had heard right. “Come to the party, please.” I said again, looking away from Safiya who was now glaring back and forth between us.

“What party?” She asked, but she as completely ignored when Kaiden spoke again.”Why? So you can rub it in my face that you’re trying to replace me?” He asked in a voice that betrayed none of his emotions, absolutely nothing of what he was

feeling.

“Huh??” Safiya spoke and yet again she was ignored. “I don’t plan to do that, Kaiden. Please just listen to me,” He pressed his lips together before he spoke. “I’m listening,” he said and I

sighed.

“Francisco knows.” I said and his eyes widened. “Knows what?” He asked, trying to be sure that it was what he was thinking. I rolled my eyes and that was the answer he needed.

“What? How?” He asked and I sighed. “He heard our argument yesterday and he knows. He was excited for the party but after what happened yesterday, he said he’s not going anymore, except it’s with you,” I explained and his eyes widened.

“Can someone explain what the f**k is going on here?” Safiya fumed and once more, she was ignored. “Please Kaiden, you can talk about how upset you are about what happened yesterday later, but now, Francisco needs you,” I said and his eyes lit up. He smiled and hurried towards the dining table. He grabbed a glass of coffee and downed it before heading toward the door. I followed him and shut the door behind me, leaving Safiya stunned.
