Chapter 217
Millie glanced up while massaging her shoulder. Selma and Gloria appeared in the doorway, visibly rushed, their eyes filled with concern.

“Mills, what happened? We came as soon as we saw the news,” Selma said, worry evident as she carefully examined Millie from head to toe.
Millie looked at them and thought about her family, who had rushed over right after the incident. Compared to Cara, she truly felt blessed. Millie opened her arms and was about to get out of bed. ” Grandma, I’m fine.”
Selma gently touched Millie’s face and said, “I saw on the news that you were held hostage. I was so frightened, my dear!”
Gloria was also relieved to see that she was fine.
“Sorry for making you worry,” Millie apologized with a pitiful expression.
The two gazed at each other and burst into laughter. “Come on, this is serious! And here you are, acting so pitiful!”
“Well, isn’t it because you guys always pamper, love, and spoil me?” Millie replied, gently hugging Selma.
Selma stroked Millie’s hair, feeling a deep love for her. However, the thought of Millie no longer being part of the Greer family saddened her.
“Yesterday, Win mentioned that you were planning to file for divorce this morning,” Selma said softly. Yet, she hadn’t received any updates from the courthouse regarding their visit.
Millie paused. She replied, feeling embarrassed, “Grandma, I lost my ID card. We’ll go in a few days.”
Selma was excited upon hearing that Millie had lost her ID card. She couldn’t help but grin. “Oh, it’s lost!”
Catching Millie’s gaze, she quickly concealed her excitement and remarked seriously, “You’re so careless!” Millie was powerless. “Grandma, go ahead if you want to laugh.”
She knew exactly what Selma was thinking. Selma didn’t want her to divorce Winston and was pleased when it was postponed. Selma felt embarrassed upon hearing this.
Gloria chimed in, “Mills, look! Both you and Win have tried to file for divorce multiple times without success. Don’t you think this is a sign?”
“Isn’t it because Grandma is interfering?” Millie said bluntly, her eyes fixed on Selma.
During the first attempt at divorce, Selma had unexpectedly appeared at the villa. It couldn’t have been a coincidence. Eli must have informed her.
In the second attempt, even though Arthur was sick and hospitalized, the courthouse staff was slacking off. Millie was certain Selma had caused that delay.
This was the third attempt. She had lost her ID card, and it was indeed an accident.
Selma cleared her throat awkwardly. It turned out that Mills was aware of everything. She initially thought that she had executed her plans flawlessly.

Gloria suddenly sat and asked with a smile, “Mills, would you like to have some pierogies? I’ll make them for you.”
Millie thought about it and realized it had been quite a while since she had last enjoyed Gloria’s pierogies. “Sure,” she agreed.
“I’ll bring them over tonight,” Gloria replied seriously.
Millie smiled. “Thank you, Mom.”
“It’s nothing. We’re family,” she said and then turned toward Selma. “Mom, let’s head home and make pierogies for Millie.”
“Do we have to leave now? I want to spend more time with Mills.” Selma appeared aggrieved.
“We’ll come again tonight,” Gloria assured her.
After thinking it over, Selma nodded. “Alright then.”
Once they left, Millie felt more relieved. Suddenly, her phone chimed with incoming text messages.
The first message was from Rachel. “Mills, are you okay?”
Marvin also texted her. “Boss, I’ll visit you later.”
The last one was from Simon. “I’m in a meeting. See you later.”
