Chapter 119
Millie was speechless after getting scolded. Terrence seldom raised his voice toward her in the past, but he consistently lost his temper whenever the matter involved Winston.

Winston frowned and said quietly, “It’s my fault, Terrence. Don’t blame her.”
“Of course, it’s your fault. Do you resent marrying Millie? Terrence glared at Winston, his eyes filled with accusation.
Winston gazed at Millie with conflicted feelings in his mesmerizing eyes.
Millie avoided Winston’s gaze, grasped Terrence’s arm, and discreetly signaled for him to stop reprimanding Winston.
The hospital was bustling with people. Winston was the CEO of Greer Group and a prominent figure in Yerwick. It wasn’t a good look for him to be scolded by Terrence in public.
Terrence was furious. “Are you still protecting him? Have you forgotten the pain he caused you? You don’t even care about your life… “į
Before Terrence could finish his words, Millie interrupted him, “That’s enough, Dad!*
Terrence stopped talking.
Winston glared at the two of them, lost in thought. What would Terrence say next? And why had Millie suddenly become emotional?
Millie turned her head and whispered, “I’m aware of my mistake. Must you continuously remind me of them?”
She knew exactly what Terrence was about to say next. She knew he would only bring up Winston’s kidnapping from four years ago. He would question her about what she gained in return after nearly sacrificing her own life for Winston,
She never wanted to revisit that past. Every time she did, she felt like a fool. How could she have been such a fool to sacrifice her life for a man who didn’t love her?
“Why can’t I mention that? You always seem to sympathize with him whenever I reprimand him.” Terrence attempted to suppress his fury, his voice tinged with frustration.
Millie ignored him and gave Winston a look. She said casually, “Come on, I’ll see you out.”
Winston glanced at Terrence, a complex expression flickering in his eyes.
Terrence stared at Millie and shouted, “Come back soon. Simon is coming to see your grandpa later!”
Millie responded, “Okay.”
With that, Millie walked ahead without looking back. She pressed the elevator button and stopped.
Winston stood next to her with a frown, and his eyes fixed on the elevator. Their figures were reflected in the elevator door, perfectly matching in height and appearance. It was as if they were destined to spend their lives together, but their marriage was in ruins.

As the elevator door opened, they entered one after the other.
No one was inside. Winston gazed at Millle and asked, “What was Terrence trying to say just now?”
“What else can he say?” Millie was annoyed.
“He seems to have something to say,” replied Winston.
Millie turned her head to look at him, her tired eyes staring at him. She said, “He does have something to say, and he’s eager to reprimand you. Are you willing to listen?”
Winston was at a loss for words.
Millie’s eyes were filled with emotion. She harbored countless grievances she longed to share with Winston. But would he be willing to listen?
She wanted to tell Winston about the pain her love for him had caused her family over the years.
She wanted to tell Winston that she had been spoiled since she was a child. Nobody had ever scolded, blamed, or humiliated her. Yet, over the years, Winston had caused her immeasurable suffering.
She also wanted to tell Winston that she felt extremely vulnerable too. When Joanna required his protection, she did too.
However, these words, along with Millie’s grievances, vanished in her sad, doe eyes. She didn’t have the right or the need to say it because Winston never cared about what she had to say.
