Chapter 83
Haley only realized what happened after Ellie’s outburst. She ran over, pointing at Lenore and Bonnie while crying. “Miss, our dance costumes are ruined. You have to help us get justice!”
The person in charge. Nancy, was responsible for the backstage at Senanville Grand Theater. Today, she was unexpectedly pulled in as an assistant to arrange these students. Hearing the sobs of the two next to her, Nancy frowned and looked up.
A girl was standing at the changing room doorway, her features strikingly beautiful Dressed in all black, a chilly gleam reflected off the knife in her hand under the light.
There was a coolness in the air and a faint smell of blood around her, emanating a rebellious aura from deep within. Her intimidating presence made her seem anything but ordinary.
Nancy’s frown deepened. “Who are you? The security at Senanville Grand Theater was famously strict, and only someone with a special status could easily access the backstage. Especially today
Lenore opened her eyes lazily, the corners of her eyes slightly red, and said dryly, “I’m a parent here with a test–taker.” This backstage area was filled. with people much older than her–parent? What a joke!
“Nancy, she came in with that Bonnie and started cutting up our clothes with a knife; she’s completely insane!
“We put a lot of effort into making those outfits, and now they’re ruined. We can’t perform without them. You have to help us!”
Lenore’s presence was really intimidating, and the way she acts was so bold. She was either some small–town brute or someone with significant backing Haley and Ellie were more inclined to believe it was the former, especially since her blazer looked quite cheap. They just wouldn’t let Nancy go
Emily frowned from the corner, “You guys cut Bonnie’s clothes first. This girl is just giving you a taste of your own medicine
Ellie turned to look at Emily, gritting her teeth with tears welling up in her eyes, warning her with a glare not to meddle.
But Emily, having already spoken up, stepped out from the corner unafraid. Im not wrong, you were jealous of Bonnie’s pretty clothes, so you tricked her and cut them…
“Do you have any proof?” Haley sneered. There was no camera backstage, and even if scissors were found on them, nobody would believe it without evidence
With less than two minutes before the competition started, Esther glanced at Lenore, her eyes flashing with a vicious determination. She stopped watching the argument and slipped into her dressing room to quietly change clothes,
The others stayed silent. They didn’t know each other well enough to take sides at this point.
We
traveled all this way, and without costumes, how can we dance?” Ellie was still crying.
Nancy was getting a headache from all the noise. She cast a cold glance at Lenore and said, “You don’t have any proof that they cut Bonnie’s clothes. but everyone saw you tear theirs. That’s intentional damage-”
“Damage what!” Just as Nancy was about to accuse Lenore, the backstage door was pushed open again. A cold, arrogant laugh echoed in. It was a
man’s voice
Nancy turned her head to see a young man appear. Her expression changed, and she immediately showed respect. “Mr. Joseph Chapin.”
Joseph ignored Nancy.
Seeing that the room was full of women, he didn’t step inside but stood at the door, casting a cold glance over the room. He asked Nancy again, “Damage what?”
He was handsome and well–dressed, the image of a young gentleman. The watch on his wrist was worth over thirty thousand. Several girls looked at him, eyes lighting up, while Ellie and Haley looked even more helpless.
The familiar voice made Esther slightly open the dressing room door to take a peek outside, her fingers tightening involuntarily. She knew Joseph
Nancy was a little afraid of Joseph, but also relieved, as she explained the earlier incident. Pointing to the girl at the entrance of Room 1, she said, “She barged into the backstage and ruined someone’s clothes, damaging private property. I was just about to call security to catch her!”
