Chapter 79
In an instant, Lenore was portrayed as the one trying to stop Esther from becoming Victoria’s disciple. Rachel’s gaze turned sharp. “Lenore, I’m warning you; you’d better behave and not try to create obstacles for Esther.”
Rachel’s really did remind Lenore of Troy, Rachel’s turned around, lifted a foot to rest on the chair, with one arm leaning on her bent knee, and looked at them with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
She said, “Did I really travel all the way to Senanville just to stop Esther from becoming an apprentice?”
A low laugh escaped Rachel’s throat, chilling enough to make Esther’s skin crawl. “Esther, do you even deserve it?” Her words were wild and arrogant, filled with an innate rebelliousness.

Esther’s complexion changed as her nails dug into her palms to keep herself from getting scared. Glancing at the eyes focused on her from around, she choked up.
“Lenore, I know you’ve always resented Dad for leaving you in a small town, but if it weren’t for you causing Mom’s death, none of this would have happened. You can’t just try to ruin me because you’re jealous that I’m better than you; I’m your sister!”
Esther was wearing a white formal dress and light makeup, which gave her a pure and cute look. When she cried, she appeared so pitiful and restrained that it made people feel sorry for her.
“The young girl looks quite pretty, but who would’ve guessed she’d have such a cruel heart? What a waste of a beautiful face!”
“Bullying her sister and being so arrogant. I really can’t understand how people like this exist in the world!”
The audience seated in the middle of the front three rows were either wealthy or influential. They had seen plenty of the wealthy’s scheming, so this didn’t surprise them. Only a few women whispered among themselves.
Ryan had been working abroad for a long time and rarely came back, so he didn’t know much about his uncle Troy’s family. Anything Ryan knew about Lenore was from Esther. He frowned as he watched the situation unfold, “Is there some kind of misunderstanding here?”
“What misunderstanding could there be?” If Ella weren’t going to perform soon, Rachel would have already left. “Having a daughter like her is really embarrassing for the Smedley family.”
“Ryan!” Esther gently pulled on Ryan’s sleeve, biting her lip with tears in her eyes. “I don’t want to say bad things about her, but ever since she came back from the small town, there’s been no peace at home…”
Joseph hadn’t anticipated the connection between Lenore and the Yarwood family. He frowned, ready to speak up for Lenore, when Bonnie walked

Bonnie pressed her lips together and said coldly, “Esther, wasn’t it always you who started trouble with Lenore first?”
A flicker of resentment crossed Esther’s eyes as she shivered and hid behind Ryan. “Bonnie, I’ve never done anything to you, why are you accusing me like this?”
Arguing with Esther was pointless as the performance was about to start. With a serious look, Bonnie said, “Lenore is here in Senanville with me to take part in Victoria’s trainee talent audition, not for you. Don’t get ahead of yourself!”
Joseph had already figured out what was happening and smirked, “Ryan, your friend is quite the character.” After saying this, he didn’t care how Ryan reacted and told Lenore, I’m going to change seats.”
Even though the middle seat was the best choice, sitting next to someone like Esther was unpleasant and distasteful for Joseph.
Seeing them switch seats, Rachel frowned and asked Esther, “Does your dad know she’s in Senanville?”
Tears lingered at the comers of Esther’s eyes. She shook her head and gave a rueful smile. “She has been back for a month, and Dad has called her many times to invite her home for dinner, but she hasn’t come home yet.”
“Humph” Rachel scoffed dismissively, “I have no idea how she even got into the theater.”
Esther gazed in Lenore’s direction, her eyes lingered on Joseph for a couple of seconds before she lowered her head and mumbled, “She is beautiful and always has admirers; back in finslenburg she relied on her looks to get into Greenvine High School, and I guess it’s the same now…”
