Chapter 13
Stephen was always at Rachel’s command at home and stood quietly. His small eyes frequently darted toward Lenore, curiosity mixed with uncertainty. Meanwhile, Sharon held back Darren, stopping him from saying something rude.
Lenore ignored Rachel completely and shot an impatient look at Troy. “Are you done?”
Rachel frowned, clearly taken aback. I’m talking to you. Are you deaf?”
Lenore glanced sideways at her, a cold smile creeping on her lips “Oh, I thought I was just hearing a stray dog barking.” “You–Rachel’s eyes widened in anger as she realized she was being insulted. She raised her hand to slap Lenore.
But before Rachel’s hand could connect, Lenore caught it with her slender fingers. The icy grip sent shivers through Rachel, unnerving her as Lenore’s calm yet chilling gaze met hers.
Rachel winced and let out a small cry of surprise. Stephen hurried over, furrowing his brow at Lenore. “She’s your aunt. What are you doing?”
Stephen knew Troy had a daughter from a small town, but seeing her act out against her aunt was shocking
Troy’s face darkened like a storm cloud. “Lenore, let go of Rachel right now.” He reached out, trying to pry her fingers away
But Lenore had reached her limit. Just before Troy could touch Her, she yanked Rachel’s hand free. Her presence was commanding, and her voice was icy. “You never treated me like your daughter. You never cared, so why should you start
You-
“Troy,” Lenore cut him off, not interested in playing games anymore. Her smile held no warmth as she continued, “If you want the inheritance, don’t mess with me!”
With that, she turned to leave but noticed three figures nearby. One was strikingly beautiful, another handsome and refined, and the last one was a muscular guy who seemed to be a follower. They had been watching for a while
Wayne couldn’t resist. He waved at her, “Hey, Lenore!” His tone was playful.
Silas walked over gracefully, with an air of elegance. He flashed a charming smile, his deep voice smooth as silk. “Ms. Smedley, what a coincidence.”
He was stunning, with a demeanor that felt ethereal–more captivating than any model or celebrity on TV.
Rachel, still rubbing her wrist, frowned at Troy. “Who are these people?” It wasn’t as if Troy had any clue.
Esther watched, jealousy flickering in her eyes. “I heard Lenore hung out with questionable people back in that small town.”
Suddenly, she exclaimed, “Dad said he had nothing to do with her getting into Greenvine High. Could it be that someone helped her… from outside?”
Esther clamped a hand over her mouth, her face pale with shock She didn’t need to say more; everyone understood the unspoken implication.
Sharon glanced at Esther and frowned, “Maybe they are just her friends.”

“Come on, she just moved here from a small town. How could she have friends like those?” Troy said, his expression furious.
If anyone finds out that someone keeps my daughter and thus she entered Greenvine, not only Esther’s future but also our family’s reputation in Jinslenburg will be ruined, he wondered.
He marched over, seething. “Lenore!” He reached for her arm, ready to scold her. “It’s one thing to mess around back in that town, but this is Jinslenburg. You need to go home and drop out of Greenvine right now.”
But before he could touch her, a hand gripped his wrist, and an imposing figure stepped forward. Troy looked up piercing eyes, feeling like he couldn’t breathe under their icy stare.

Lenore glanced at the intimidating man beside her and then shop a fierce look at Troy, her eyes glinting with defiance. This is the last time. If you want that inheritance, stay away from me
If it weren’t for Yves, she wouldn’t have the patience to deal with the Smedley family at all.
