Chapter 100
“Really?” Emily doubted if Bonnie was being lied to, as her tears welled up again.
Afraid she might start crying endlessly again, Bonnie held her hand and let her feel her leg. “It’s just because we were worried you’d feel pain, so they gave you an anesthetic
Feeling her leg was still there. Emily finally stopped crying and said in a small voler, “I want soine water. Her throat was dry from crying for so
long
Bonnie handed her the warm water she had prepared earlier. Emily drank two glasses in a row before stopping, too scared to look at her own leg She asked Bonnie. Does my leg look really bad now?”
They had only known each other for two days, yet Bonnie had saved her, leaving Bonnie with mixed emotions about Emily. “You didn’t have to cover for me.
Emily tilted her head and blinked her bright eyes, her delicate features were cute and lively. “You know, I’ve been timid since I was little and scare easily.
“My mom never let me go out alone. This time in Senanville. I sneaked out by myself… It was her first time traveling so far alone.
“My mom always told me, you can be scared and afraid, but you must always stand up for what’s right,” Emily said with a playful wink at Bonnie. “So don’t feel bad or think you owe me because I saved you. I did it willingly”
Even though she said that, whenever Ronnie thought about Emily’s legs, it made her feel upset. She pressed her lips together and said. “Ella’s been caught. She admitted she did it on purpose. Lenore wants me to ask you what you think about it.”
Emily was quiet for a moment before asking, “Can I see my legs?” Her legs were bandaged up, but there were photos. Bonnie hesitated but handed.
them to her.
Her legs were all cut up and bloody, which was really scary. Emily tried hard not to cry. “Will I never be able to dance again?” she
asked.
Even though Lenore’s medical skills were amazing, she wasn’t a miracle worker. Bonnie didn’t dare make promises and kept quiet. Emily didn’t ask more questions, but turned to her and asked seriously, “Can I do whatever I want with Ella!”
“Yes” Bonnic nodded firmly.
Emily took another look at the photos of her burned legs, and then handed them to Bonnie. Her clear eyes were calm as she said. “Then I want her to end up just like me!
Bonnie paused, her grip on the photo tightening. Emily didn’t seem to be joking. From their previous interactions, Emily was always shy but very just and kind–hearted,
Yet today, while seeing her leg in that state at the hospital, she didn’t break down at all and even jokingly teased her. Now, her words had a hint of determination.
Bonnie suddenly sensed that Emily was not as simple as she appeared. They locked eyes for a long moment before Bonnie nodded firmly. “Okay”
Lenore was sitting in the hallway, scrolling through her phone. Silas handed her a paper lag. “Here’s some snacks I got from outside. Have some first.” It was right in the evening, and it would be a bit before they could have dinner.
Lenore looked up, meeting Silas’s deep eyes. She reached out and accepted it politely. “Thank you”
Bonnir walked out of the hospital room and relayed Emily’s answer. Silas glanced toward the room door, his demeanor relaxed. “This girl’s background isn’t straightforward.”
Lenore’s eyes half–closed. “I know.” When Emily was brought to the hospital, they tried to check her emergency contacts and family but found nothing, so Bonnie stayed there the entire time Lenore sent a photo to Joseph. “Cet Ella like this”
Stephen rushed to the theater, but the show had already ended. Someone in the crowd mentioned Ella had been taken to the police station, so he hurried over there. Since Joseph had given orders, Mark didn’t let either of them see Ella.
Stephen’s face was gloomy for a while, and then he hurried to the Heartland Chamber of Commerce. But as soon as he arrived, the receptionist told him that Joseph had gone to the police station. Gritting his teeth, Stephen dragged his heavy body back to the station agam
Mark spotted him and raised an eyebrow. “Oh. Mr. Yarwood is here again?”
After running back and forth several times. Stephen was anxious and flushed, drenched in sweat and breathing heavily. Ignoring the sarcasm in Mark’s words, he asked. “Has Mr. Joseph Chapin arrived?”
