Chapter 98: Mr. Wilson, Let Me Deal with Your Ex–Wife
Yvonne’s gaze was ice–cold.
She knew Gemma and Cassius were on good terms-
Thanks to Gemma saving Elizabeth.
Sure, if Gemma were in danger, Cassius would step in.
But when it came to personal matters like relationships, Cassius wouldn’t get involved.
That day, Gemma had humiliated her so badly that if not for Keagan’s protection, she might not have made it out alive!
Now, seeing her enemy face–to–face again….
Yvonne’s rage flared, burning away all reason.
Brian’s face darkened.
“Ms. Cooke, whether we’ve signed a contract or not, or whatever relationship I have with her, none of it concerns this partnership.
What you need is quality medication, and Read Pharmaceuticals can deliver that!
This is a business partnership, not a hierarchical relationship.
Yvonne didn’t get the answer she wanted. Her tone turned sharper.
“Partnerships require mutual trust, and your pharmacist’s background is dubious-
“If you think it’s dubious, you can terminate the contract.”
Brian cut her off, his voice icy.
His demeanor was so cold it felt like the room’s temperature had dropped
He stood firm, unyielding.
Gemma, watching this, couldn’t help but reevaluate Brian.
She had always seen him as gentle and polite, but now, she realized he had a tougher side.
Taking steps forward, Gemma faced the gathered partners.
“Brian asked me here today to test a new fever and pain relief medication
I’m not sure how you all heard about it.
But you’ve shown up to observe anyway
Since you’re here, and you’re partners, it’s fine
After all, this is about medication–it’s normal for you to be concerned about the results.
I’ll be preparing a sample today. If my work meets your expectations, we’ll proceed. If not, Brian can find someone better suited to the task.
Pharmaceuticals are a long–term business. Nobody dares to take risks with patients‘ lives.”
Her argument was logical, her tone calm, yet persuasive
Brian’s eyes flickered with admiration.
He liked Gemma because of the impression she’d left on him during their college days
Seeing her stand up now, righteous and articulate, brought back memories of the old Gemma
An odd wave of longing surged in his chest.
No matter what happened today, he resolved to tell his father one thing: He wanted to get married.
The partners, who had been tense, began to relax.
They realized that they were here to observe, not meddle in Read’s internal affairs,
And if this pharmacist was truly skilled but lacked a contract.

They could poach her, which might even benefit them.
“Ms. Cooke, don’t push so hard.”
“Exactly. If she doesn’t deliver, just replace her. We’re here to see if Read can meet the demand.”
“If Read fails, we’ll terminate the contract. Their internal management isn’t our problem.”
Despite being cornered, Yvonne didn’t explode.
Instead, she smirked.
“Fine, I won’t meddle.
But just to be safe, I’ve invited someone to supervise. Mr. Harvey, Mr. Brian, no objections, right?”
Before anyone from Read could respond, Yvonne’s “guest” arrived.
“Dr. Hamilton!
Gasps rippled through the crowd as they all stood.
Joel Hamilton was one of the most respected figures in pharmaceutical research.
His anti–inflammatory drug had won international acclaim and was a bestseller globally.
In short, he was a living legend.
Dr. Hamilton smiled politely. “I had some free time, and Yvonne asked for my help. No need to be so tense.
Everyone remained standing, respectful and awestruck, as he exuded an aura of authority.
After he sat, the others cautiously followed suit.
At Yvonne’s signal. Dr. Hamilton turned his gaze to Gemma
When he saw her face clearly, he abruptly stood
Surprise flickered in his eyes.
But just as quickly, the surprise faded, replaced by deep sorrow.
“Professor, are you alright?” Yvonne asked, steadying him.
“I’m fine.”
Dr. Hamilton sat back down. “Getting old–my vision’s playing tricks on me.”
Yvonne sighed in relief
Whispers broke out among the crowd:
“With Dr. Hamilton here, if Read fails, their reputation in the pharmaceutical world is done.”
“Absolutely. One word from him, and it’s as good as law.”
“Such a pity for that young woman–she’s pretty, but if Dr. Hamilton disapproves, her career is over.”
Leaning down, Yvonne whispered.
“Professor, you must evaluate this thoroughly. If there’s any issue, please give a detailed critique. I’m not a professional, so I
won’t understand otherwise.”
Dr. Hamilton nodded. “Alright.”
But his eyes lingered on Gemma.
His expression was clouded with confusion.
“Let’s begin,” he said.
Harvey checked his watch, then frowned. He seemed to be waiting for someone who hadn’t arrived.
Gemma changed into sterile attire and entered the lab. But just as she reached the door, Harvey stopped her. “Wait a
moment”
Gemma glanced back, annoyed.
What now!

Brian tugged her sleeve lightly, signaling her to stay calm.
Moments later.
Even Brian’s usual composure cracked.
The person Harvey had been waiting for finally arrived.
Marcus
Dressed in a sharp white shirt and black slacks, Marcus walked in with a commanding presence, flanked by assistants and bodyguards.
He greeted Dr. Hamilton and sat beside him, exchanging pleasantries with the others.
His polite smile and composed demeanor won over the entire room
Except Gemma, whom he didn’t even glance at
“Let’s go.”
Brian punched in the lab’s access code, and the door opened.
They strode in.
As the door closed, Marcus cast a brief glance in Gemma’s direction-
Just enough to see her retreating figure.
The door was finally closed.
Harvey began broadcasting the lab’s surveillance feed for everyone to monitor Gemma’s process.
Then, under the pretext of discussing something, Marcus and Harvey stepped aside.
“Mr. Wilson, don’t worry. They won’t succeed in creating a viable fever and pain relief medication.”
Harvey handed Marcus a small blue vial. “This is ready to go. You can play the hero.”
Marcus pocketed the vial without expression.
“Cedric will send over the orders. The Wilsons look forward to deeper collaboration.”
Brian grinned. “Thank you, Mr. Wilson.
Rest assured, after this, I’ll see to it that Brian is shipped off overseas. He won’t bother you again.”
