Chapter 93: Rejecting the thigrateful Son–Time to Shine Alone
“Your greed makes the past a burden, a reason for me to resent you!*
Then he’d walked out, ignoring their crying baby in the cradle,
And, of course, ignoring her, pale and crumpled on the floor,
“That day…” Marcus’s lips trembled slightly.
That day, he’d gone drinking with Cedric and brought Mabel along.
Leaving behind the suffocating house had felt like freedom.
But who could’ve guessed?
The knife he’d left in her heart that day would now twist in his own.
“I was just a joke. You’re still holding onto that?”
He paused, as if trying to lighten the mood.
“You’ve really learned to hold a grudge in just one day apart.”
Gemma stayed silent.
No wonder people online always said, “Don’t force yourself into circles where you don’t belong.”
Good thing she divorced him.
She wasn’t that helpless, submissive woman anymore.
“A grudge? Sure, if that’s what you want to call it. You’ve done so many disgusting things, and I forgave you. Now you think it’s all water under the bridge.
Too bad for you, what’s past for you isn’t past for me!”
Her heart ached for her old self.
She’d been so naive, throwing everything away for the lie that “love conquers all.”
And all she got in return was “It was just a joke.”
The bitterness surged like a tidal wave, making her eyes sting
“My lawyer’s here. Mr. Wilson, please stop wasting my time.”
Marcus froze
He couldn’t believe those words had come from her
His eyes shifted from shock to confusion, then finally to panic.
He mudged Alijah forward.
Alijah wailed, “Mom, are you just going to leave me?”
He stepped closer, as if wanting a hug.
But when Gemma looked at him, there was no trace of the motherly love she’d once shown.
“If protecting you means apologizing to your grandmother, then no. I can’t afford it.”
Alijah froze, her frosty gaze stopping him in his tracks
Marcus seemed to realize something.
“I’ll talk to Mom. It’s not your fault.”
Gemma nodded. “Exactly. It’s not my fault. Which is why I’ve already filed charges against her for illegal detention and
assault”
Marcus finally grasped the gravity of the situation
“You filed charges against Mom?”
Gemma, who’d always been like a docile lamb in front of Margaret, dared to sue her!
“And as for people like you who waste a doctor’s time without an appointment, I’ve already called security. If you don’t leave, I’ll have to call the police.”

Marcus rubbed his temples, his frustration rising uncontrollably.
Maybe the air conditioning was too strong.
He felt like lie couldn’t breathe
“I told you yesterday–I want to discuss Ali’s custody with you.
And today, all you’ve done is dodge the topic.”
His tone turned icy, cutting straight to the point..
Gemma shot back.
“Didn’t the court ruling make it clear enough! Mr. Wilson, if you can’t read, enroll in a literacy class. If you don’t understand the law, go get a crash course from your legal team.”
Marcus’s logic crumbled under his growing fury.
“I’ll appeal the ruling, but for now, Ali can’t stay with just me.
He’s your son too, you take care of him during the appeal.”
Gemma was stunned by his shamelessness.
He wanted custody.
But now he wanted to dump the responsibility on her?
He was literally impossible!
“Alijah, do you really want to stay with me?”
She decided to cut to the heart of the matter.
If the boy chose her now and was willing to change, she’d give him a chance.
Her tone softened, despite her anger.
But Alijah hesitated.
Sure, the lifestyle differences were a factor.
But mostly, Mom was just too strict.
No candy. No fries or junk food.
Meals required perfect manners. He had to stay humble and punctual.
And if he made another kid cry, he’d have to apologize, no excusest
Her rules suffocated him.
“Mom, can’t you just come home in the evenings? Cook for

tell me stories, and help with my homework?”

Getma was stunned.
Marcus smirked.
“Do you really think he can always protect you?
Give it three days, and you’ll see who’s really in charge!
But by then, my offer today will be off the table.“.
Gemma let out a laugh of disbelief.
“Mr. Wilson, you can’t even sleep alone, still entangled with your first love. Does everyone else have to be like you?”
Marcus’s face darkened. “Mabel and L..”
He looked up, but her disgusted expression hit him like a knife.
The words caught in his throat.
“Why aren’t you saying anything. Mr. Wilson? You think I’d never find out?”
When their relationship started to change, she thought it was just because of his workload.
Until his cologne began to mix with other women’s perfumes.
Until he brought Mabel into their home.
“To me, the day you cheated emotionally, you were already sentenced to death. And when your body followed suit, you erased any chance of parole.”
“Mr. Wilson, you’re..”
Her voice was icy as she bit out every word.
“Disgusting!”
Marcus’s heart clenched, as if someone had gripped it and wouldn’t let go.
Breathing became difficult, and his chest felt ready to explode.
He thought he had hidden everything perfectly.
Even dreamed of keeping one woman at home and another in the shadows,
But she knew.
She knew it all.
He couldn’t remember how he left the hospital.
At the entrance, he passed Gemma’s lawyer, who seemed to want to speak with him.
But Marcus ignored him, clutching Alijah and disappearing into the crowd.
Alijah was sent to the Wilson family estate to stay with Margaret.
Marcus returned to their marital home alone.
The place no longer held traces of Gemma
She had lived there for six years.
But it only took a month for her to erase herself completely,
Turns out, when someone wants to leave, it’s really that simple.
He wasn’t sure why, but his heart felt unbearably heavy,
He walked to the bedroom.
Opened the drawer of her vanity table again and looked through her belongings
All the jewelry he had bought her–gold, diamonds, pearls–was still there.
It dawned on him…
He rubbed his temples.
Chapter 90. Marcus Discovered True Love and Desperately Wanted Her Back
She had never cared about those things.
He should have been happy.
If she wasn’t materialistic, it meant she truly loved him.
But that only made the pain worse.
The Gemma who had loved him so deeply had left without hesitation.
It felt like someone had ripped a bone straight out of his body.
“Max, are you okay?” Cedric asked.
He had come to discuss tomorrow’s ambush of the Read family.
But froze when he saw Marcus downing a bottle of whiskey.
“Are you insane?”
Cedric rushed over, grabbing the bottle.
Marcus wasn’t drunk. He looked at Cedric like a drowning man clinging to a lifeboat. “Cedric, tell me if a woman leaves. and suddenly everything feels wrong, you’re miserable, and your chest hurts, what does that mean?”
Cedric was baffled.
What was he talking about?
He knew he should have canceled the meeting when he broke his lucky glass this morning!
Marcus shook him. “Answer mel”
Sighing, Cedric relented. “It means you’re in love with her, obviously.”
Marcus instinctively denied it
“That’s impossible.”
Cedric rolled his eyes. “If you didn’t care, her leaving wouldn’t bother you. If life felt chaotic, you’d just hire a new nanny or housekeeper.
But this isn’t about the house. It’s about your heart.
A woman who can affect a man like that is someone he loves.”
Marcus fell silent.
Cedric thought he’d passed out and gave him a rudge..
But Marcus slowly stood, leaning against the wall, and walked to the window.
The cold wind cleared his head.
So he loved Gemma?
No wonder he hadn’t taken Mabel up on her countless hints.
No wonder he kept finding excuses to see Gemma after the divorce.
No wonder her calling him “disgusting” didn’t make him angry–it made him painful.
“Max, are you okay? Should I call a doctor” Cedric asked nervously.
Marcus suddenly laughed, turning around.
“I’m fine. I just figured something out.”
Loving his wife wasn’t shameful.
Sure, he’d hurt her before. But it didn’t matter–he’d win her back.
If sweet words didn’t work, he’d use tougher methods.
