Chapter 68: Gemma
Divorce is Rebirth
Marcus sat through the execs reports, his expression was so grim.
The company’s losses? Not the real issue.
What had him fuming was their attempt to gang up on him and push Gemma out.
“Mr. Wilson, I know she’s your wife, but she’s incompetent and dragging the company down!”
The pharmaceutical department’s a mess, and she acts like it’s someone else’s problem!”
“Let’s not forget the Wilson Group doesn’t belong to just you. If you can’t handle being Chairman, we’re ready to elect someone who can!”
Marcus slammed his hand on the table, the sound like a gunshot.
But the exces didn’t flinch.
They just doubled down.
“Now’s not the time to be stubborn, Mr. Wilson!”
“If you keep this up, we’ll have no choice but to bring your father back to clean up the mess!”
The mention of his father hit like a gut punch. When Marcus first took over, he’d just lost his eyesight
It took years of hard work to regain his vision and earn the board’s trust.
If his dad returned now, it’d be the ultimate humiliation–proof he wasn’t fit to lead.
Marcus’s face darkened, his fury rolling in like a storm.
One exec finally relented. “We’re not saying you need to punish her. But she CAN’T stay at Wilsons,
That was their bottom line
Back in his office, Marcus slumped into his chair, frustration hanging over him like a cloud.
Gemma, on the other hand, was the picture of calm.
She sat on the couch flipping through a magazine, her delicate features glowing with quiet serenity.
For a moment, Marcus just stared.
She was so
at peace
Something clicked in his mind.
The guilt and doubts that had been eating at him vanished
If Gemma left the company, she’d have no career left–no hospital, no Wilsons, nowhere to run
She’d finally have to stay home as the perfect wife and mother, just like he’d always wanted
With that comforting thought, he let out a long breath.
Hearing the door, Gemma looked up with a smile and quickly stood to greet him.
“Max, you’re back!”
“Mm.” His reply was curt, heavy with impatience
He wasn’t about to coddle her anymore-
Not after she’d had the nerve to file for divorce.
Letting her work at Wilsons for two days?
That was more than generous.
“We need to talk,” he said, his tone clipped.
Gemma’s eyes lit up
“Of course! But sit down first. You must be tired–I even made you u coffee.”
Marcus didn’t so much as glance at the mug.
Chapter 6: Gemma – Divorce is Rebirth
Gemma felt a pang of disappointment. After all, she’d scrubbed that cup with a toilet brush just for him.
“It’s about your job,” Marcus said, cutting straight to the point.
She looked at him in surprise.
Her dark eyes shimmering with emotion, like pearls in the ocean, beautiful and fragile.
Marcus felt his resolve weaken despite himself.
“You’ve stirred up too much trouble in the pharmaceutical department,” he said, his voice gentler now. “I can’t protect you
anymore.
Gemma bowed her head, hiding her reaction.
“You’re firing me?” she murmured, her voice trembling, “But I already left the hospital. I’ll be stuck at home with nothing.”
Her unexpected calmness caught Marcus off guard. Was she finally learning to be docile!
He placed his hands on her shoulders, his tone softening further.
“Ali’s been missing you. You can spend more time with him. I promise, once things settle, you’ll come back.”
“Really?” Her voice wavered, like she was barely holding it together.
“Really,” he said firmly. Tll let you run the whole pharmaceutical department. Okay?”
“Okay.”
Gemma seemed to be comforted. “You’re so good to me, Marcus.”
“You’re my wife, Gemma. If you just behave, I’ll make sure you’re taken care of.”
Marcus leaned closer.
Feeling that, Gemma wiped away nonexistent tears.
“Max, I won’t waste your time, then. I’m heading back and pack up my things in the office.”
Marcus’s heart softened even more, reluctant to let her leave just like that.
Besides, it had been a long time since they’d made out.
Marcus smiled, stepping closer, his gaze drifting to the couch behind her. Maybe this could be the start of something new.
But Gemma suddenly covered her face.
“I feel so lost, Marcus. Can you take me back to the villa tonight? I don’t even know what to do with myself anymore.”
Marcus’s chest swelled with pride.
He knew it–Gemuna was still hopelessly in love with him.
Without work, she’d be completely dependent on him, too scared to ever rebel again.
Still, he decided to make her wait..
Let her stew in the uncertainty for a few days.
When he finally swooped in, she’d be so grateful she’d never dream of leaving him again.
Even one day she found out Mabel, she wouldn’t ask for a divorce anymore.
Once Gemma left the office, she let out a sigh of relief.
“Ugh, what a creep,” she muttered, shuddering at the memory of his gaze.
As she composed herself, Angela, the President’s secretary, approached with a smug smirk.
“Still here, Madam?”
Gemma raised an eyebrow. “Do you need something. Angela?”
Angela had golden blonde hair, full lips, and bold gold eyeshadow. When she looked at people, there was always a faint trace of disdain in her gaze
Angela’s lips curled into a sneer. “Just reminding you–you’ve got thirty minutes to pack up. If you’re late, security will gladly escort you out”

Gemma frowned. “You’ve always had it out for me. Care to explain why?”
Angela laughed coldly. “Don’t flatter yourself. It’s not personal–it’s professional. Now hurry up, or I’ll call security.” With that, she strutted past Gemma in her 10–centimeter heels.
She couldn’t stand women who relied on their looks to get ahead–a country bumpkin from some remote village. If in weren’t for that face, how could she possibly be Mrs. Wilson? How could she have used the Wilson family’s connections to land a job as a doctor?
And now, quitting the hospital only to stir up trouble at the company? She was nothing more than a parasite.
Women like her deserved nothing but Angela’s scornful glare
Although Gemma was puzzled by this inexplicable hostility, she wouldn’t have any dealings with Wilson’s Group afterward, so she didn’t think much of it and took a taxi to pick up Noah,
Noah was like sunshine. The sight of his bright smile melted away her frustration,
He held her hand, and they got in the car.
“Gemma!” he beamed, grabbing her hand. “I’ve got a surprise for you!”
She raised a skeptical eyebrow. “Surprise or scare? It’s a coin toss with you.”
your re..re… rebirth!”
Noah immediately ratted on his uncle. “Uncle Cassius planned it. He said it’s time for yo
