Chapter 165: Gemma Changed a Lot
Marcus was furious and threw a punch.
Brian reacted quickly and dodged.
Gemma was shocked. “Brian, are you okay?”
Marcus was even more triggered.
“What do you mean? You’re only worried about him?”
He hadn’t even touched Brian.
Yet she was already so concerned.
But in the past, she had only ever worried about him.
When he was blind, even if she bumped into a table corner she had padded for his safety, she would feel heartbroken for a long time.
How had she changed so suddenly!
It was a change he couldn’t accept!
“What’s going on here?”
Hearing the commotion, security rushed over.
Marcus was forced to leave.
Before leaving, he threw out a final remark.
“Gemma, you’ll regret this!”
Brian exchanged a few words with the security and then came back.
“It’s fine, Gemma. They thought we were about to start a brawl. The rules here are strict, so they’re just being cautious.”
Gemma nodded and headed to the lounge to wait for the trial to start.
Brian followed her.
Several times, he seemed about to say something, opening his mouth but ultimately staying silent.
Gemma felt exhausted just watching him.
“Brian, if you have something to say, just say it.”
Brian gave an awkward smile.
“I mean.. don’t believe what Marcus said.”
“In our circle, even though we’re all rich kids, we all value being ourselves.”
“Actually, a few years ago, there was a straightforward woman in our circle, and everyone liked her.”
“On the other hand, those who constantly attended etiquette classes and obsessed over manners were seen as annoying.”
Gemma couldn’t help but laugh.
“You think I’d be upset by his words?”
In the past, she would have been heartbroken.
But now, his words were like background noise to her, completely meaningless.
Marcus’s influence over her was fading.
It was almost negligible now.
This was a good thing.
She had truly moved on.
Brian was overjoyed. “That’s great, that’s great.”
Gemma hadn’t expected that, aside from Brian, Cassius and Shawn would also be in the audience.
On the other side, Derick was also present.
She felt a bit “overwhelmed by the attention.”
After all, she was just a small figure.
Yet she had attracted so many big names.
It was truly unexpected.
And most importantly, Derick was there.

Chapter 165: Gemma Changed a Lot
That old man was up to no good.
He had been plotting revenge against her before.
There was no way he had suddenly turned over a new leaf.
Who knew what kind of scheme he was brewing now?
Her lawyer gently patted her arm.
She quickly stood up with everyone else, waiting for the judge to read the relevant legal provisions.
Marcus was the plaintiff, and his lawyer spoke first.
“This mediation process was highly irregular. My client didn’t even clearly hear what the other party said over the phone and casually responded, which was then used as evidence.”
“We request the court to dismiss the previous mediation agreement and reopen the divorce case.”
“Additionally, the plaintiff does not wish to divorce.”
After the statement, it was Gemma’s lawyer’s turn to speak.
True to his reputation as a top–tier lawyer, he had prepared an extensive logical chain during the mediation, with ample evidence.
He submitted it directly in court.
Gemma didn’t even need to lift a finger–the case was practically over.
But Gemma kept glancing toward the audience seats.
Cassius remained expressionless.
As if the trial had nothing to do with him.
Shawn, on the other hand, was making exaggerated faces.
Like an opera performer.
These two had completely opposite personalities but were great friends.
Probably the so–called “complementary” type.
She couldn’t help but think that Cassius had endured being seen as a cursed loner by his entire family for so long.
It must have been because of the warmth of his friends.
Shawn might seem carefree, but he was a ray of light in Cassius’s cold, dark years.
Cassius was pitiful, but also incredibly lucky.
The corners of her lips curled up.
Earlier, she had worried that Cassius might feel sad after visiting Evangeline.
But now she could rest easy.
After all, some topics weren’t suitable for a doctor–patient relationship but could be shared with a close friend.
Her lawyer had finished presenting the case.
The entire chain of evidence was airtight.
No matter what questions the other side raised, they could be perfectly addressed.
By the end, the opposing side had no arguments left.
They even lowered their voices.
“Mr. Wilson, let it go. She’s only asking for twenty million.”
“If this really escalates and she demands half your assets, she might just get it.”
“Their lawyer is too good. I don’t stand a chance,”
Marcus stared at Gemma.
From the start of the trial until now, Gemma hadn’t even glanced at him.
It was as if he didn’t exist.
He could only watch Gemma’s profile.
He knew Gemma was looking at the audience seats.
Where Brian was sitting
He didn’t dare look.
Otherwise, he might lose control of his emotions.
“Your Honort
He suddenly stood up.

Chapter 165: Gemma Changed a Lot
“No matter what the other side says, I will not agree to a divorce.”
“Our marital relationship is strong. My eyes!”
“As previously submitted, my eyes were healed by her. She gave me a second life. How could there be a third person between us?”
“I love my wife. I will never let her go!”
“Order in the court!”
The judge banged the gavel.
The lawyer quickly pulled him back.
His emotional outburst had only put them in a worse position.
The judge might now consider him unfit to maintain a family.
“Calm down, or else custody of the child might also be awarded to her.”
Those words seemed to hit Marcus’s weak spot.
He immediately fell silent.
Soon, the court ruled in favor of the mediation agreement.
In other words, once the ruling was finalized, the divorce would be official!
Gemma was so happy she almost jumped for joy.
She had finally rid herself of Marcus, that scumbag.
But little did she know.
There’s no limit to how scummy a scumbag can be.
“We will file another lawsuit. This time, it’s about child custody.”
The lawyer, following Marcus, quietly informed Gemma.
Gemma was stunned.
“Marcus, back then, Ali didn’t want to stay with me, and you preferred Ms. Johnson to take care of him.”
“Now you’re bringing up custody again. What’s your game?”
Marcus’s eyes were wild, his gaze intense.
“Don’t you understand what I’m doing?”
“Gemma, I never said it was over. How dare you just walk away?”
Gemma was utterly baffled by his nonsensical remarks.
“Excuse me, but you were the one who walked away first, fooling around with Ms. Johnson in the car and causing an accident! Who was it that couldn’t stay on their own track and had to veer onto someone else’s?”
“When their track turned, you couldn’t brake in time, and now you’re reminiscing about how good your old track was. How can you be so fickle, so disgusting and despicable?”
