Chapter 107: The Scheming Mr. Cassius Started to Set Up Gemma
Candy finished her bath, all fluffy and soft, rolling around the room.
She had just learned to walk, but wasn’t used to it yet–taking a few steps, she’d roll over.
So silly and cute,
Her antics softened the tense and bloody atmosphere of the living room.
Brooke had a group of men dragged out and then said in a low voice.
“The Artemis files weren’t lost, they were stolen.”
Many people wanted not just domestic secrets, but treasures passed down through thousands of years.
This isn’t just theft, it’s treason!
“Mr. William wouldn’t have the guts to do this, maybe there’s some misunderstanding,”
Brooke’s voice faltered as he spoke.
Mr. Hamilton had been at the Reed family’s place, working on some simple pharmaceutical preparations, which was a pretty easy task. When he left, it seemed he wanted to speak to Gemma for a moment.
But after receiving the call about the loss of the Artemis files, he panicked, nearly having a heart attack.
That alone proved how important the “Artemis files” were.
Mr. William, Cassius’s half–brother, had always been spoiled. But because Cassius’s stepmother was a short–sighted woman, Mr. William was scheme
but not smart enough.
And yet, Cassius’s father favored his youngest son.
No matter how foolish William was, the blame always fell on Cassius.
If not for Elizabeth’s protection, Cassius might not have even survived those years.
Now, if William had taken the “Artemis files,” if they weren’t lost, things could still be contained. But if they were gone…
Brooke lowered his head.
He was just an assistant, but he couldn’t help but feel sorry for his boss.
It was too much!
Cassius raised his head expressionlessly, his cold black eyes deep and unfathomable, like the abyss of the sea.
Brooke’s heart was trembling…
“Keep an eye on all channels–land, sea, and air. Artemis must not leave the country!”
“Yes!”
Brooke immediately began making arrangements.
At that moment.
Cassius’s phone vibrated, a new message coming in.
When he saw it, Brooke felt the air in the vast room grow thinner.
Even the walls seemed to freeze, inch by inch.
What was going on?
It felt like his life was at risk here.
His heart was racing.
Candy stopped rolling, shrinking her neck and hugging herself with her little paws.
Even Noah, who usually ignored everything to focus on the nine rings Gemma had given him, seemed to sense something and ran out of the room.
Brooke’s mind raced, quickly catching onto the “instigator.”
“Mr. Cassius, could it be that something happened with Ms. Kelestine?”
Gemma always had bodyguards with her, so if something dangerous happened, he would know right away.
But since he hadn’t received any news, it might be something his bodyguards couldn’t handle.
Maybe she was being targeted, or perhaps she was facing blame from her superiors.
Having been by Mr. Cassius’s side for years, he knew him well.
Mr. Cassius cared too much about Noah.
And Noah relied on Gemma so much.
It was almost like..

Gemma held a “get–out–of–jail–free card.”
As long as she wasn’t breaking the law, as long as Mr. Cassius was alive, she was invincible.
Therefore.
If anyone could make Cassius’s heart race, it would only be Gemma.
Brooke thought for a moment, then decided that if anyone dared to make things difficult for Ms. Kelestine, he would personally make that person wish they were never born.
Cassius looked up.
His cold eyes were glinting like they were filled with shards of ice.
“She won’t be coming back tonight.”
Brooke sighed in relief.
She’s just not coming back.
That’s normal.
This isn’t even Ms. Kelestine’s home after all.
But soon, he realized something was wrong.
Not.
COMING BACK!?
Who would put the little monster to bed? Who would soothe the big monster?
Does this mean he’d have to go back to those late–night overtime days?
His pupils trembled, and he felt like his world was crumbling.
Noah, upon hearing the news, froze, like a statue, his body crumbling to pieces when touched.
Gemma wasn’t coming back.
How would he survive this long night?
He was so small.
Was he really going to face vampires and witches alone at night?
So scary.
Without Gemma, he couldn’t sleep!
He felt so sad, so heartbroken.
His eyes, once bright like stars, quickly filled with tears.
He wanted to cry but held it in.
He looked so pitiful.
“Uncle Cassius, if Gemma’s not coming back, can we go find her?”
Cassius’s eyes were as cold as if they were frozen in eternal ice, sending chills through the room.
Being in the same space made Brooke feel a chill down his spine.
His voice was indifferent, “No.”
Noah’s last hope shattered, and he cried louder.
For three minutes.
Cassius didn’t respond.
Noah’s crying grew louder.
Cassius picked up his phone, opened the voice message.
After a moment of silence, he spoke slowly.
“Okay. Be careful.”
His voice was calm, as if the person on the other end didn’t matter to him at all.
The message was sent.
He casually placed his phone aside.
Noah sniffled, silently crying, his sobs even more heartbreaking.
Cassius seemed not to notice.
His cold voice fell like ice.
“Brooke.”

“Yes!”
“Continue the report.”
He had already finished.
Well, whatever.
The boss asked for the report, and he reported it. Easy!
“As for Mr. William, we can control his movements, track him, or check the people he’s worked with.”
Gemma had just saved a patient.
When she came out of the operating room, she felt an urgent need to check her phone.
The first message that popped up was Cassius’s voice message.
She found it strange.
He was usually so brief with his words–just “okay,” “yes,” or “no.”
But now, he sent a voice message…
Something must be wrong!
She quickly found a quiet place and opened the message.
The first thing she heard was Noah crying.
The little guy seemed to be really upset, crying so sadly that his voice was hoarse.
Her heart felt like it was being twisted.
She almost couldn’t bear it.
Then, Cassius’s cold, indifferent voice came through the phone.
Gemma, “…”
How could he be so calm when the child was crying like that!
Did he think she wouldn’t hear it, so he was pretending to be calm?
She grew even more worried.
Without thinking twice, she immediately dialed him.
Cassius’s phone buzzed several times.
Her heart felt like it was going to shatter as she waited.
Finally, he picked up.
The environment was quiet.
The child’s crying had stopped.
But if you listened closely, you could hear faint, stifled sobs.
Noah was definitely in trouble!
“I didn’t mean to interrupt you. I’m just worried about Noah. Is he crying? How’s he doing?”
“It’s fine. I’ll take care of him.”
Despite her best efforts to hide her worry, it still slipped through. She couldn’t help but show her concern.
