Demitri has stayed hidden away all day. I look at him, wondering when he will finally speak. I stay quiet, watching the time pass.

“Some is an understatement cub. Gold Cadence is on the edge of the city. It’s a casino, legitimate, and high–end. On a night we bring in millions. As people come to it from other cities.” I continue to drive and she stays quiet for a while.
“So you’re killing the person?” She looks at me waiting.
“Look cub, if we don’t, the next person will take triple what he had. Then the next one triple that, before we know it we won’t own the city anymore. It has to be done, even if you don’t agree.” She needs to realise they can’t get away with this shit.

“I wasn’t asking because I don’t agree. I just wanted to know what I am. walking into.”
Turning I stare at her shocked.
“I agreed to stay, knowing what you do. I saw you guys breaking the guy’s fingers remember? I’m happy to stand by you regardless.”
I nod as I stop the car.
“It’s good you’re here. I might need you to distract Demitri while we
sort it.”
“Shouldn’t he help?” She looks at me confused.
“Normally yes, but he’s detected and reliving things so right now he shouldn’t be dealing with things like this cub. Let’s get in and ready to leave.” Getting out we walk in, Daisy goes to her room to get ready.
“He shouldn’t be coming.” Calix pulls me to the side.
“We have no choice, he comes Cal, don’t push him out. We will get Daisy to distract him while we’re there. Hopefully, it works.” I can hope.
“Right get ready then.” Walking off I stop at Daisy’s door. Knocking I wait, and a moment later she answers. Standing she smiles at me with the towel wrapped around her body.
“Elegant, ballroom, type of dress cub. As I said, it is high–end, so look expensive.” I smile and walk off, leaving her to get ready. After getting showered and dressed I sit on the bed. Considering a way to get Daisy to distract Demitri without it looking like we set it up. I don’t want him upset or hurt thinking we don’t trust him, but right now we need answers, and Demitri in his mind, answers won’t even matter.

Standing I walk out, stopping when I see Daisy, she looks amazing, truly amazing. Standing we wait for Calix and Demitri.
“Any ideas on what you plan to do tomorrow? It’s your day off.” I wonder if she has thought of anything.
“I was thinking about shopping. I need clothes for dancing, and when it comes to learning to fight. Nothing I have right now is suitable.” She smiles at me and I nod.
“Troy, tomorrow you and Ryan take her. We’re busy, so Ryan stays in the car. You follow her at a distance.” I look at him and he nods.
“No problem boss.” He stays standing by the door. I watch as Calix comes through, and soon after Demitri. Walking out I stop them.
“Two cars, just in case. Cal you go with D. Wait for us to get there though before you go in please.” I look at him and he nods. Walking to the car we get in, and Daisy stays quiet, not speaking. I can’t help but wonder if it is because she is considering the fact she leaves without us tomorrow or the fact she knows we’re about to kill a guy.
Stopping I look at her.
“Are you okay, if not just say Daisy and you can stay outside with a few of the guys.” I would rather not leave her with our men, but if she can’t face it then I will.
She smiles at me and gets out of the car walking to where Calix and Demitri are waiting, so I guess that answers my question. I watch as Daisy wraps her arm around Demitri’s and smiles up at him.
I hope he doesn’t fall.
